  1. My question really is where were they all living before downtown and near west side neighborhoods became popular residential areas. They - think 20 and early 30 somethings - had to live somewhere. Those somewheres will have to take a hit with these influxes
  2. With this surge in downtown residencies but stagnant/decreasing population metro size - and the young professional work force has to be lower now than 10, 20, 30 years ago -I'm wondering where these workers' counterparts lived back in those eras. Where would new Jones Day and National City associates live before downtown's residential resurgence? I'm guessing Cleve Hts and Lakewood mostly - should those areas be nervous now that there's a smaller influx of young professionals?
  3. Good lord that's a packed schedule!

When Michael J Fox and the party crasher villain were driving/fighting in the police car in The Hard Way. The car flips over something in slo mo and the characters are yelling 'drop the gun', 'drop the car!', 'drop the gun!!!" And so on. The movie and that scene especially are just gems. The hotel scene in Borat The news team fight in Anchorman The collapsing stairs scene in The Money Pitt Every frame of The Burbs
  5. I have no idea what I just read

Judging by your time and 60+ bus/hr estimates, I'd guess you live at..... hmmmm.... clark/division? Clark/dickens here and i mean literally on it
  7. Anyone else have a lump in their stomach over the recent Super Walmart confirmation. This one bothers me a lot more than it probably should. From being the first local country club to allow jews to being an absolute treasure to residents (the jewel of the city!!!) to this mess...is just incrediby upsetting and an example of how our country just gets more shit-ty with each passing year.
  8. I don't know. Tower City certainly had its share of top tier stores in a time when the downtown and overall city had significantly more income and well-paying jobs.... and it was a dismal failure, at least for that kind of client base. Sure there are more downtown residents today of relatively high income, but the city as a whole has significantly less economic power, with a much smaller daytime business population who could afford such high end goods. There is nothing wrong with confronting economic reality. This isn't a defeatist attitude, just an observation
  9. A woefully idiotic approach to a changed society by a completely out-of-touch former economic juggernaut. It reminds me of that rap video that some conservative produced to attract himself to the black vote. Get the f-ck out of here! Many of the article's comments and discussion are completely correct - frankly I have nothing new to add to the discussion that isn't already brought up.
  10. The panhandler problem has merit, but the free parking complaints are beyond ludicrous. In what universe do lot and garage owners volunteer their land. Plus there's always street parking.

People were sunbathing at North and Oak beach on Sunday, including me and some of my then out of town guests. I think it was 83 degrees in Chicago that weekend. It felt like 90.
  12. Can someone summarize the report?
  13. Go to DMK on sheffield/wellington and order a shamrock shake there. It'll change your life. Half off on sundays after 9pm
  14. The wifi never works on the greyhound, it's the only real flaw of the system. Some security outside the Cleveland stop would be nice too. I'm sick of those people from the nearby shelters bothering me, even though they're harmless. 7:30am is just too early for that $hit
  15. I keep forgetting which suburbs are good and bad on this site. I guess I see where Medina falls.
  16. Guys, every cities' public transport system is crazy today. You should see how unbelievable the L is in Chicago, and the buses are as bad. It's a wild day no matter where u r

It's more like Federal Government Bad, State Government Good platitudes by Republicans, but still...good for Kasich here. If not for the rail lines bull$hit, I'd probably be a supporter at this point.
  19. Frankly, I'm a bit skeptical still.
  20. I'll tell you after I finish up this falafel

I have a 20-25 minute commute to work via the bus at 6:30. I leave work at 6 (5 on Saturdays) and take a 5-10 minute train ride to the gym by me, then walk half a mile home unless i'm going out. Get a lot of kindling done that way
  24. That Phoenix had the single best iced coffees in Cleveland. maybe the midwest
  25. Ctaplanner.com Google maps Transit tracks app CTABUS text messages Every city and town should have some version of those.
