  1. It would be cool as $hit to live above or by the theaters. Can you imagine coming home to that every day!!! Five dollars says those things are gonna sell out faster than 668.

If that picture doesn't scream "INDUSTRY MOTHEF$%$*, WELCOME TO OHIO," I don't know what does

Anyone else have a bad feeling about the Heat this year?
  4. I gotta say, I think I'm done with Megabus for the time being unless I can get tickets for $15-20 per way (which still exist though $40 is the new standard). The overnight rides on Greyhound from Chicago to Cleveland and back were MUCH faster than Megabus, also $40/way, the seats reclinable, and it was nice having an indoor station to sit in. Come winter that amenity will be even more appreciated! The only cons were the bus bathrooms were a bit gross and the stations weren't exactly Venice Beach, but both were expected. Cleveland's was definitely cleaner and quieter as a whole. In fact, I think I'll be taking the red-eye trips from now on - and possibly increasing/extending my trips back and forth - as everyone was very quiet, sleeping, and it was surprisingly comfortable. I cannot stress enough how well I slept on both trips, as I got sleep out of the way on both rides, giving me 3 completely full days in Cleve and I didn't miss any work! Whatever the Greyhounds used to be like, there must have been some substantial improvement in recent years to the stations and buses as I couldn've have been happier. Maybe a day trip would've been different, but the night was more than fine, and I think Megabus may have outpriced itself a little. Glad to hear MB is doing well though; whatever it takes to get people taking buses and trains, I'll take!

I'm not feeling the Sears criticism. I went shopping there last weekend with my mom in Richmond Mall. It wasn't any worse than in years past and there were some good holiday discounts. In fact, she and my sisters have regularly shopped there for a number of years, and they've never complained. At the end of the day, Macys, Dillards, Pennys, and Sears, at least for clothing, are fairly indistinguishable, at least for lay shoppers.

So South Euclid is really that unstable? Part of the reason I was thinking of there is that it's always been this wonderful middle class community, at least up to the late 90s, but then I start hearing mixed things the last 10-11 years. Do these problems extend to Brush?

Thanks. Sad to say I don't know anything about Walton Hills. Will have to google that one.
  13. I believe so. Though what is Puritas-Longmead then? A subneighborhood?
  14. Looks like telecommunications is going to have to evolve even faster. Perhaps some kind of tablet-virtual reality system is the next step.

Sons of Anarchy is damn addicting, plus netflix just put up season 3! It's Always Sunny just put up a great season 7, after a very odd and disappointing season 6. The League is getting to be my favorite show period. Parks is still going strong, plus Archer is pretty solid. Also, I've been marathoning Home Movies and the Oblongs. I don't know how the hell I missed those series when they came out, but they're hilarious.
  17. "Are you sure it's not there. Can we look again." From Christopher Lloyd at XSport Fitness in Old Town, Chicago, two Saturday ago. I was leaving as he and a staff member were looking for his lock in the lost & found. Very funny stuff - I mean c'mon, it's Doc Brown/Judge Doom.

I can understand why older folks would want to move to warmer areas. It would be very hard to be in your 80s and have to deal with sometimes severe snow and ice 4 or 5 months a year. Think about how hard it must be to be in your 80s and just see gloomy weather half the time. You can't leave because the roads are icy and it's painfully cold, so you feel stuck. Plus there's issues like shoveling walks, driving in bad conditions with little visibility, body temperture fluctuations with age, and concerns about getting sick from the cold. Not everyone has a network of people to help them through their later years, and it's about self preservation for a lot of them.

My sisters and their husbands are very open about feeling stuck in Cleveland, which has caused some family hiccups since my parents want to live here until they die and I'm a big Cleveland backer. There's a good chance that when my last nephew goes to college in 3 years, that at least one of my sister's and her family will move to Florida. Her husband runs a .com business and can do it anywhere, and she doesn't really work, so the job situation isn't an obstacle. And now the other sister is talking about doing the same since her husband really wants to practice medicine there and has already turned down some offers. And if they both go, then my parents will probably follow because the goal is for them to all be together. Which puts me in an odd position because I have no interest in Florida whatsoever, yet my business does provide a certain mobility and it's not impossible. So while my parents and I are fairly content when in Ohio (I'm a part-timer), my sisters and their families absolutely feel stuck and they're not quiet about it.
  23. Depends on his career objectives, I guess. There's probably something else going on besides his little PR story.
