  1. I think at the least the Indians should consider having two full time closers, especially with our bullpen being so deep. Put Pestano in when we're up by a run or two; Perez in when we're up by 3 or more. I just don't have much confidence in the guy, and in a playoff game, I can't see him closing the close ones up.
  2. "The Port would pay $3.1 million for the building, which is owned by Front-9th Street Properties LLC and valued at $1.9 million by the Cuyahoga County Auditor's office." Is this building/downtown real estate really so hot in demand they'll pay almost twice as much as it's valuation? Starting to think of the Ameritrust catastrophe on a lower scale here.
  3. What do we do with Chris Perez? I
  4. Brooklyn lager is my drink of choice. Will definitely try it when I'm there next week
  5. So I took my mom, pop and buddy out for lunch downtown last Thursday. Mom hasn't been down there since the bicentennial celebration, dad doesn't go all that often outside of the playhouse and library on occasion, though my buddy is a little more well-versed with the area. First things first, parking by Harry Buffalo was only $1.50 for two hours, which was an absolute pleasant surprise. We parked there and walked to E4, which mom hasn't been to since it's darker days 30 years ago. She had obviously heard of the area and was aware of its restaurants and street life, but still, it was something "out of New York," which I guess is is a compliment. We walked up and down the street, went into Dredgers (apparently the bottom floor will open up once they put in an elevator; right now it's not complying handicap laws so it's only open for occasional events and parties at present), got some cafe from Erie, and settled at the outdoor patio at the 4th Street Bar & Grill. Lunch was very good (3 of us got chicken, mom got a huge burger), and we enjoyed the outdoor atmosphere with attractive joggers, young professionals walking through and by the street, and of course incredible not-too-hot or cold weather. Absolute perfect weather really. The street really was congested with people, and in a good way too. After eating, we walked by the Arcade (the real reason were down there, since mom wanted to see what it's like today), and I can say that it ... is... unequivocally ... the jewel of Cleveland. I estimate it's about 75% full with a variety of stores (nothing really stands out in mind right now though one of the restaurants serves food from 11-3 at night, which would be fun to try), but the building itself, its interior, is second to none. It's incredibly well-maintained, probably because the Hyatt takes up the top few floors and you gotta appease the tenants, but still, it really has that old Cleveland meets new Cleveland synthesis. Just beautiful. Freaking inspiring. Let's see. We then walked to the Mall to see if we could get a glimpse of the MM/CC construction. Nope, though we saw hundreds of people of people standing around. Hey, maybe someone is coming to talk? Nope - evacuees from the Federal building. Oh well, moving on... Since we only had two hours on the meter, we walked back, though we talk the semi-longer route through Public Square. The square itself was actually less gross than usual, seemed less littered, variety of people around, plus the water in the fountains was operational, which is always nice. Walking along Euclid, we looked at some of the new restaurants and walked inside the Cleveland Welcome Center to pick up some brochures for a convention my pop is hosting next year. Walked through E4 and made it back to the car with minutes to spare. A f'ing great few hours in Cleveland. Made a believer of my mom in the city, absolutely. Really a great day overall.

Thanks guys. Regarding the MacBook air 11 and 13 inches, is there a substantial difference between the two beyond the screen size? I'm looking at the apple website....and I realize how computer illiterate I really am

Hey, has anyone used both the Macbook air 11 inch vs 13 inch? Other than screen size, is the performance substantially different on the bigger machine? Is the 13 inch worth the extra few hundred dollars? I'm also considering the Macbook Pro 13 inches. Any thoughts? It's only a few hundred dollars more than than the Macbook air 11 inches, and seems to have more features... Also, is the apple warranty worth getting? Or do these computers have good shelf lives, especially if you take care of it?
  8. Was it clear the two victims went to the park to buy drugs?I recall one of the scumbags' scumbag uncle whining about that (I guess to mitigate his nephew's role in some nonsensical way), but I don't recall reading about that in some official capacity. I'm sure that's what happened regardless, just unsure it was absolutely established.
  9. Eh, I can't blame the PD for this one. It was a horrible trauma for the victims, their families and friends, and the city, not to mention the only reason Cleveland's doing anything in that area presently. The murder/attempted murder is definitely relevant enough to the article to warrant being mentioned
  10. Maybe it was really a segment on irony
  11. I'm not the biggest fan of Josh on a personal level, but Bruce (his dad) is a great guy and is very genuine. He's always been good to me on a professional and personal level.
  12. Middle aged crisis convention?
  13. Losing Metropolitan was a slap to the face. I never went to Metro so I can't judge it outside of some negative reviews floating around these forums here and there. But Bar Louie....that has got to be a downgrade, I mean it's barely a step up from Applebees. Not that there's anything really wrong with it per se - some people like name brand restaurants/pubs/bars - it's just not unique to downtown Cleveland by any means, the food and drinks are not remarkable, and it...just doesn't do anything for me. Maybe if they can refocus on it being a martini bar rather than pub-style restaurant, I'd be a little happier.
  14. Whoops. I knew I misheard the name
  15. Jilians' successor, Next (I think that's what it's called), opens soon. I play volleyball with a few people who are going to work there.
  16. In all fairness the PD is doing a remarkably, but perhaps not surprisingly, bad job with promoting and updating the project. If not for this site or actually working/living by there, I don't know how people would hear about the construction.
  17. Glad to hear the B&N is still gonna be coming!
  18. That is pretty $hitty on their part.
  19. Can't say I'm a fan of either but those frosties hit the spot!
  20. I've always been surprised that area has so few quality restaurants. Good to see the guy is filling it up.
  21. ^^Argh, I shouldn't step in, but I will. The problem, Hts121, and probably MTS, even though I usually just skim over his rubbish, if not skip it all together, is whenever the concept of race, or a subculture of a race, is discussed, then there are always people who overgeneralize the other person's comments, and the discussion completely shifts. Cleveander17 and I are NOT talking about every black person, and no one is saying that we need to have segregation signs. We are not talking about stripping away the rights and privileges of well-behaved children, whatever their racial background, and you guys, well, at least you Hts121 since you have a pretty good head on your shoulders, have got to stop making these purposeful alterations to our statements. That is not at all what we're saying, it's immature and pointless to keep changing the discussion as such. In a nutshell, the problem is two-fold: first, that there are a large groups of black teen/young adults running amuck at these events. And second, that it is difficult to even begin the discussion without having someone start making far-reaching arguments that really have little to do with the discussion at hand. It's like you're changing the argument from "How do prevent another incident from occurring by these teens" to "How dare you generalize all blacks as criminals"; it's counter-productive and nothing changes.
  22. The American dream is dead? You better believe it. In a sense, the American dream comes down to one thing: your offspring will do better than you. Your sacrifices will result in their having opportunities you never had. This is now, for all intents and purposes, a joke. The next generation, barring some massive technological revolution that can provide middle class jobs for 10s of millions of Americans, is pretty much screwed for a plethora of reasons. Parents are seeing their children struggle in ways that runs contrary to this American dream. These struggles are pretty much a way of life. Generation Y is to some degree a lost generation, and just imagine what happens to the subsequent ones. Realistically, what do you think is going happen? What are 350 million people going to be doing with their lives - not what will they want to do with their lives, but what exactly will happen? It's not pretty. Our country is being assaulted at every level imaginable, and there is no reason, no indication, outside of blind faith, that we will somehow get back on the right path. Certainly not in this, the next, and near future generations.
  23. ^^^That is SO COOL! Beauty in ugliness.
