  1. I'd rather they just enforce the no littering ordinances, maybe raise the penalties

Idiocracy is a very scary problem
  3. What's your estimate?
  4. More like two decades
  5. Yes yes absolutely yes - though the article isn't nearly hard enough on the team's owner, nor does it discuss the ridiculous bad internal promotion decisions of the last few years. http://espncleveland.wordpress.com/2011/04/05/indians-must-solve-p-r-dilemma/ Indians Must Solve P.R. Dilemma "It’s the never-ending push and pull. Paul Dolan says, “our ability to improve the club is based on attendance.” Fans say, “look up in the outfield and see that 455 (consecutive sellouts) sign, we’ve invested in you, now it’s your turn.”
  6. They also have that salad place in the middle of the mall. Eaton is turning into quite the restaurant destination
  7. I'll watch/listen to Indians games all year no matter the record; however, I will only go to games when the team plays well. It's expensive and the Dolans/Shapiro questionable, perhaps suspicious, tactics are ugly enough for me to stay away, outside of the occasional nice day, cheap ticket day game. Question for you guys. Has a city ever had the three worst teams in the three major sports before? I mean, the Cavs are by far the worst, the Browns probably are too, and the Indians....well....with our pitching, I dunno. Barring multiple miracles, I don't have much faith on our starters.
  8. Is that number of tickets sold or actual attendance? I wonder if it also factors in employees of the team/stadium. Watching the game yesterday, I dunno, that number seems a little high.
  9. Fingers crossed, gents
  10. There was a pretty interesting piece on forbes.com this morning where Steve Forbes actually discussed in some detail why Cleveland keeps getting the brunt of these negative lists. I guess there was enough negative feedback to warrant an editorial. It's a fairly in depth read, and I recomend you guys look for it (hard to post links on my iPhone). In a nutshell he seems to keep drawing comparisons to Cleveland in 2011 and the 1940s Cleveland depicted in A Christmas Story, apparently his, or at least one of his, favorite holiday movies. He seems almost offended that the city has suffered so much in those 70 years, hence the various comparissons between the two eras. It's like a blaming the victim mentality. Strange article but it explains, on at least an irrational level, his problem with the city. Not that he say it explicitly, just read between the lines.

  12. San Fran? Really? Well, I have heard rumblings that Twitter may relocate to the suburbs due to their insane taxes and costs of living, but still.....
  13. Very easily, you just don't.
  14. Why do so many of these positive articles have to begin with something negative about the perception of Cleveland, then the rest of the article talks about the good stuff. It's so cliche.

lol, natininja definitely missed what I was saying
  16. Glad to hear the health line is a sucesss, but have the lights-timing issues been rectified?

Lord knows those 'leaders' have nothing better to do or other problems to focus on
  18. Lots of underage kids were harassing or unnerving legitimate patrons of the restaurants and bars down there. In a nut shell.
  19. I've been to Tremont Scoops quite a bit - the amount of food there you get, not to mention overall quality, was definitely greater and thus worth the excessive costs.

I guess this article can go here http://www.smithsonianmag.com/travel/Clevelands-Signs-of-Renewal.html "Cleveland’s Signs of Renewal Returning to his native Ohio, author Charles Michener marvels at the city’s ability to reinvent itself" Nice article overall
  21. $5 (after tax) for a small mug of rootbeer with a relatively small scoop of ice cream, even if it is homemade, is expensive. I too had it--it wasn't that impressive. And are you two out of your minds (not you mike, the other two posters)? Christ, they had sundaes there for 5, 6, 7 dollars. You know the place is pricey when the website's menu doesn't even list the prices.
  22. i gotta admit, the negative cleveland.com'ers are outdoing themselves on this one.
