So -- and I understand it's stupid to even pretend these maniacs follow logic -- this dodgy f-ck believes women shouldn't worry about abortion if they're over 50? That's for men to decide instead. Wonderful. Makes total sense. Some day we will need mass MAGA deprogramming for these broken f-cks (with or without occupation), and scum like him is first in line. Why there aren't riots in the street after Dobbs I still don't understand. Moreno, et al, won that battle, but there really should have been a more visceral response.
  2. Outside of it being an interesting conversation, I don't know why you guys bother discussing a Burke move so much. It feels like Internet lore that's been given disproportionate and unwarranted credibility. Jimmy hasn't discussed a Burke move, the city hasn't, and frankly I don't see the financial benefits compared to the costs even if it all worked out. The complexities of Cleveland seizing and repurposing the property could lead to years (decades?) of litigation even before they begin years (decades?) of land modifications to make it usable. That's a lot of effort for questionable benefit. And it isn't like the city and developers do a particularly good job utilizing the river and lake as it is. The Flats are significantly empty. The lots surrounding Browns stadium are mostly empty. Wendy Park and Gordon Park are undertilized. For a variety of reasons the demand for commercial developments don't seem to exist downtown, so why should the city spend billions of dollars and years/decades attempting yet another if-we-build-it-maybe-they'll-come project. Also, separately, the Browns should not be the reason Cleveland repurposes Burke but rather there are credible studies that the land can be monetized in a way that financially benefits the city for decades. Desperation to keep the Browns is not it. And there are a lot of assumptions Jimmy would move there. If he wants a dome, he's simply not getting one in his lifetime at Burke with this decade/decades-long fantasy of converting the land into something usable. He would get to see one in Brookpark or another city, however. Like I said, fun topic but I think it's gotten a lot more traction online more than anything.

Judge and Ohtani are just absolute units this year. Historic performances. God knows the world wants to see them in the World Series, and if Cleveland doesn't advance, then yeah, I'm hopping on the bandwagon for Judge and rooting for LA/NYC (ughh, I feel dirty). Sale AND Skubal are also triple crowning. Has that ever happened? I'm sure it has, but can't think of any instances at the moment. Sorry Witt and especially sorry Clase. Amazing performances, but the MVP and CY Young are locked for both leagues. I say skip the votes and just hand over the trophies after 162. It's been a boring season but my god have things picked up (for Cleveland and the aforementioned studs) the last month or so.
  4. Different time too. The Empire State Building only took a year and a month to build. Absolutely unfathomable today. Cities are basically tombs of different eras.
  5. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/reports-white-sox-developer-invite-140934988.html Reports: White Sox, developer invite lawmakers, other VIPs on riverboat cruise in latest pitch for new stadium funding Absolute madness on so many levels
  6. If stadium developers are sabatoging their deliverables, then cities need to investigate and file claims against the companies, subcontractors, prior administrations, whoever.
  7. End of the day, all that matters is who's paying for it. All the flashy, repetitive, AI'ish presentations in the world don't matter until that bill is settled. Maybe mayors should start having referendums on these matters, gauge if the public is willing to pay for all these luxury suites or "transformative" improvements. "The firm released a capital assessment report in April 2022, recommending $493.7 million in basic repairs to the aging structure such as fixing steel rails and ramps, replacing seats and upgrading electric and plumbing systems." Jesus Christ, how is it that Cleveland Municipal stadium lasted 65 years without killing anyone, yet all of these 25-year-old stadiums need endless, taxpayer subsidies for repairs/maintenance. Whoever is building these money pits in the first place doesn't seem to be doing a particularly good job.
  8. Average US household sizes have dropped from 4 to 3 in the last 50ish years. All the mid-upper 6 figure SFHs won't mitigate that stat, and obviously it affects population growth. Point - I get it hurts when the city keeps losing population and metro area stagnates, but it's not that big a deal ultimately. Now household income levels seems a better depiction of a region's health.

Good god... the Deadwood actors looked like they aged 25 years in just 12 in between season 3 and the 2019 movie. Half of them look like the crypt keeper.

I swear the maniacs are just begging for a formal military occupation and deprogramming/deNazification.

So does the rapist start on Sunday? I just don't see it. That Jacksonville crowd will be brutal. Edit: crap, I forgot the rapist's backup is ALSO a rapist. It never ends with this team.
  13. What kind of question is that? Poster made some good points, provided links, and we've all heard anecdotally that the stadium is structurally s**t. The fact that no one has been injured there, yet, is some barometer of quality.

Well, no one ever accused the NFL of being a moral organization. It really is just a collection of violent men with violent backgrounds throwing a ball and running around, and fans will look past all indiscretions or crimes when they play well. The reddit boards would be overwhelmingly supportive of Watson if he were any good. Same reason Steelers fans excused their rapist quarterback's assaults. Same reason Tyreek Hill, despite ALL of the women and child abuse he's inflicted, has his supporters. Hell, same reason Browns fans STILL idolize Jim Brown, when he should have gotten the needle for all those decades of abusing women.

You know I'm referring to Baker, right?
  18. TBideon replied to ColDayMan's post in a topic in Sports Talk
Why, he had four touchdowns and threw for nearly 300 yards. Oh wait, that was the the Tampa game.

The idiot mayor may be on board, but the city consensus and state sure as s**t are not

Black markets aren't going anywhere for a long time: Corporate cannabis is very expensive compared to street purchased. And I don't think anyone's going to bother with studies only a month after legalization. For fun I suppose you could look at restaurant sales, movie ticket sales, tourism, and bowling shoes rentals Y-Y, and make some assumptions, but that data is probably useless.
  21. Between this and Intel, September has NOT been rockin.
  22. Tap room. Maybe mutiple. It can absolutely be a huge draw for those beyond the neighbors.
  23. Or possibly something related to Jim Donovan.
  24. My money is on some team-up with a non-profit as a way of ingratiating themselves to the Northeast Ohio community. Hopefully not a woman's shelter.
  25. "I believe that had to happen to me to put me on this healing journey of sobriety and introspection,” she wrote." I hate that kind of s-hit. Someone does something stupid or awful, and they act like it's part of the great adventure of life. No, you f'd up and there are consequences. Sometimes it's that simple.
