    Devil in Ohio is PREPOSTEROUS.
  2. Twins eliminated last night. Ohtani for the win, of course. 203 K, 2.47 era now. And an RBI single too. I don't know... maybe I'm having second thoughts of Judge for MVP.
  3. Should be a fun weekend. First time playing Texas all season, and they are the drizzling sh*ts.
  4. Ohtani is a once in a multi-generation player and, theoretically, should win the MVP every year if he can somewhat maintain his offense and pitching pace. We've never seen a player like him in our lifetimes - who do you compare him to, Babe Ruth? - but perhaps he'll start a new era of two-way players. However, it's got to be Judge this year. 60 home runs in the post-PED (yeah right) MLB, leads the league in almost EVERY offensive stat (Ramirez on top for doubles!), Yankees on pace for 99 wins, plus the media attention/good feels. Definitely Judge.
  5. Kwan is definitely up there for Rookie of the Year.... but Rodriguez has got to be favorite. Quite a few good rookies this season.
  6. There really needs to be an audit of all the previous garbage studies. Something smells very fishy, and it's not the lake.
  7. Can't they just dust off any number of the prior failed studies?
  8. I'd say Case and Little Italy are a bit more responsible than UH and the Clinic for some limited luxury housing developments of the last 15-20 years, basically since Peter Lewis chewed out the school. Meanwhile Hough, Glenville, Fairfax, Buckeye haven't exactly had an easy run despite their proximity to those thousands of jobs. Just go outside the hospitals. There isn't any commercial activity or walkable communities. And I don't think this necessarily unique to Cleveland.
  9. Let's be frank. I highly doubt people at Parker Hannifin would want to work in either area, and that includes the younger professionals who have more an affinity for living and working in cities.
  10. I guess there's University Circle the neighborhood and University Circle the region. Seems like the Clinic is part of the latter.
  11. You think? It just seems like these hospitals don't ever result in significant ancillary jobs and surrounding neighborhood stability/desirability. Fifty years or the Clinic/University Hospital's expansion, fifty years of the area basically degrading. I just don't think medicine acts as any kind of economic engine.
  12. I did have some fun times at J. Alexanders and Champs back in the day. Still a few good happy hour deals at Burntwood Tavern.
  13. Are half our games against the Twins this year?
  14. Rosario! Hells bells, getting close to a no hitter too.
  15. 45 years later, and Sears still stands out completely. I can only imagine how overwhelming it must have been when built, when there were much fewer mid and high rises. St. Regis/Wanda Vista is a disappointment depending on the angle. The last-minute blow-through floors make the building look permanently unfinished.

About as goofy as those beep beep beep noises on Euclid
  17. Rates will certainly continue to rise, but it could be banks just need those refinance fees. Cash and institutional buyers are bypassing the conventional mortgage process, which isn't helping Wells Fargo. Combine that with a lot of people simply unable to afford homes, and I can see some desperation in their quieting lending departments. If banks are not making loans or refinancing, they're not really making money.

They didn't get sick days? That's absolutely sickening. Hey, I see what I did there!
  19. Am I going nuts or is there a crane IN the actual stadium? What is that yellow structure?

I do like the helmet. The elf is just lame, but I suppose I'm not the target crowd.

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/34556355/major-league-baseball-passes-significant-rules-changes-including-pitch-clock-banning-defensive-shifts Major League Baseball passes significant rules changes including pitch clock, banning defensive shifts So I read the article several times and still don't quite get it. Forget these poorly articulated and somewhat confusing bandaids, just shorten the damn season to 140 or 120 games. Late April to early October. Done. And if they want more fans to show up, MLB needs some radical changes to make the game more hitter friendly. Bogaerts is hitting 319: Congratulations, you're at the top of the AL league. White Sox hitting 262: Congratulations as well, that's the AL team high. I don't think silly pitching clocks are going to make the difference. Ultimately, people want to see hitting even if that means PEDs running rampant like it's a 1988 WWF house show.
  22. This has been an exhausting season. No matter what, we just can't shake Chicago and Minnesota comfortably. Also, how the F U Cream Korn are the Angels this bad this year? 61-80??? Even King Trout's average is off a bit.
  23. He really was in an impossible position, as most teachers are on a daily basis. Crappy kids, crappy parents, crappy administrators, crappy pay, crappy hours, crappy funding, crappy COVID, hated/feared by half the country, terrorized/taken for granted by big chunks of the other half. God help us, what a profession. Other countries must be positively dumbfounded.

Damn I'm so conflicted... at least my parents enjoyed the Sunday game, and they couldn't give a flying poo about sports.
  25. Hey, if that works, I'd love to be corrected.
