  1. I like Bibb, but let's not act like his showing up to another region's photo op is particularly noteworthy.
  2. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/34553680/chicago-bears-say-singular-focus-suburban-arlington-park-site-new-stadium Chicago Bears say 'singular focus' is on suburban Arlington Park site for new stadium McCaskey said the Bears will "seek no public funding for direct stadium structure construction" but would need assistance in order to complete the rest of the multibillion-dollar project. The necessary infrastructure, like roads and sewers, is what the Bears will need taxpayer help with or "will not be able to move forward" with the project, according to McCaskey. How convenient the Bears couldn't ballpark what this "necessary infrastructure" would cost and actually entails. And as for "the new stadium would make up less than half of the development, which would include restaurants, retail and office space, housing, a hotel, fitness center, new parks, ponds and open areas," who pray tell would be funding these amenities. They don't sound like "direct stadium structure construction" to me. Jimmy and Dee are following this nonsense closely.

I never got into places like Ed Debevic's or d*ck's Last Resort, which Karen's Diner is imitating. I just don't see the point.

Echoes is BEYOND ludicrous. Entertaining bad. Edit: Episode 7 is sh*t.
  5. I say the Bears and Browns can stay in their respective cities playing in new, city and county subsidized, "modernized and competitive" stadiums that only the higher income suburbanites can afford generally -- as long as the cities/counties receive some kind of ownership. And a cut of the merchandise and tv rights. Modify the Green Bay Packers plan to be more investor friendly. Do that, and Dee, Jimmy, the sexual predator, and all their enablers and apologists can enjoy a free multi-billion dollar stadium paid for by those who generally can't even afford to see games. I accept that investment. If not, f-uck off and move to Arlington Heights and London.
  6. I think if if all three teams left, there would be surprisingly little outcry. At first, sure there would be articles and people ranting on the forums, but it would quiet. The Cavs' popularity stemmed solely from the Lebron years, the Browns never really returned, and this semi-expansion team is uniquely toxic, and the Indians/Guardians fanbase has always been marginal, save for that wonderful stretch. Teams need to win championships; ours generally don't. Cleveland would probably be an OSU town afterwards.
  7. Just offering some ideas as to why attendance has been dreadful since the Sizemore/Haffner years. Frankly attendance has never been that impressive save for the golden period 25 years ago. https://www.baseball-almanac.com/teams/cleiatte.shtml CLEVELAND GUARDIANS ATTENDANCE DATA
  8. Undoubtedly there are a number of reasons discussed on these forums in previous years and they still apply: Lack of promotions, general disinterest in baseball, virtually no stars, dynamic pricing and overall expense of a game, lack of championships, perception we're a farm league for other teams, many diehard fans of the 90s and early 2000s since relocated, corporate community's ambivalence, a shrinking city and stagnated region, new stadium honeymoon period long gone, etc.

Shadow and Bone was very good. Where is season 2????

    Don't tempt Jimmy and Dee.
  11. Day games today and Sunday but late games Friday and Saturday. The west coast schedules always throw me off. Should be an interesting series. Ramirez, Kwan and Geminez have been a killers row lately.
  12. Damn, look at the unobstructed view in the end. Absolutely stunning.
  13. It would be wonderful if that's the case, but why do you think there will be a turnaround in 2022?
  14. Small steps, but Cleveland, in conjunction with the state and federal government, really needs a formalized Law of Return. The city has such uniquely, deeply rooted Eastern European ties that it should be considered a second home to them, and that Bibb/DeWine/Biden develop the means for this Aliyah. Never in a million years, but it would be nice.

Adapting comic books can be tricky; for instance Preacher started off incredible, then turned to sh*t. The Boys started off fine, then season 3 was the best thing I've seen all year. Sandman was supposed to be unfilmable, unadaptable. And if you're a Rhodes scholar and somehow understand the source material, then they'd agree it would be impossible to adapt without enormous changes. But this Sandman series (I've watched 6 of the 11 episodes) is incredible. There are significant changes of course, mostly cosmetic updates to make the cast more diverse, but the show still captures that magic of the series. The more memorable comics - the Death and Hob Galding episode, the battle in hell, the restaurant - are excellent and keep some of the original dialogue: "I was always told it is bad manners to keep one's friends waiting." Love it! Hell, I think the show IMPROVED Doctor Destiny's backstory; that actor deserves a round of applause, he's clearly acting on another level. Plus Death does a fine job, and I'd love to see an adaptation of The High Cost of Living. Perhaps a standalone mini-movie? Only real complaint: Patton Oswalt. Jesus. It's very distracting hearing his voice, the dialogue isn't that great, and the character seems like forced levity. I can't believe the producers or showrunners listening to his episodes and thought, yeah, this fits.

And now that Jimmy and Dee got this silly sexual predator issue out of the way, they must begin campaigning for a publicly financed multi-billion dollar "competitive" stadium. They, really, we, must improve the experiences for the ticket holders in Westlake and Moreland Hills, who have suffered mediocre accommodations since '99. Fortunately the city and county are flush with cash. Shouldn't be a problem at all. And it all evens out with all those directly adjacent restaurants and businesses benefiting from our 9 home games and 1 pre-season. It's not like we have winters where generally ticket holders, especially those with families, would rather drive home after a game.

Well those conferences were quite the sh*tshows. We will certainly be hearing about those failures for a while. And then there's this gem: “I’ve always been able to stand on my innocence, and always said I never assaulted or disrespected anyone,” Watson said, “but at the same point I have to continue to push forward with my life and career. This freak's face should be posted at every legitimate massage parlor: "Predators Not Welcome." Game 12, the offensive line should find their moral compass.
  18. Texas v Minnesota tomorrow. This will be a very interesting weekend. Break ahead? Slide back? Stagnate?
  19. This is some 8th inning.
  20. Should be a good series, and let's see who Minnesota is play-- How the EXPLETIVE SQUARED is LA so bad this year?
  21. Welcome back 13,000, it's been some time. (pause) Now f' off and bring your friend 16,213 to the party.
  22. (clears throat) Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Whoever said it's lonely on the top didn't play in the AL Central. It feels GREAT.
  23. Worth staying up past my bedtime! Good to be back in first.
  24. It's a reddit post, not a nuanced journalist article, so I don't understand why so many objections. And it seems like the poster was aware of the homeless problems prior, though reading about it abstractly is certainly different than encountering encampments and visible homeless in Venice, Delray, or wherever he went. For instance I knew Tenderloin was rough when visiting San Francisco, but my god is it an absolute madhouse in real life, especially when the sun goes down. Youtube videos and countless articles don't do it justice. American are somewhat numb/accepting to these environments, so it's good to have different perspectives. This sh*t just doesn't exist in western countries as they do here, so of course, and fairly, there will be negative reactions. But again, just a reddit post.
  25. He was just making some observations. Seemed fairly balanced.
