As bad a human as Vance is, thank god it's not Mandel.
  3. After all these years and all the lies, it's just so hard not to be cynical and see this project as anything but an albatross.
  4. Pennies in the bucket for the billions Jimmy and Dee will be extorting the city for that 9-game "competitive" stadium. Cleveland/Cuyahoga County seems to find money to subsidize the wealthy with unused medical marts, roads to nowhere, and stadiums; just include the $40 mill in the next package (and boy are a few coming up). Tell the airplanes to f off, then hand the land to the Metroparks so they can plant some greenery, install porta poddies here and there, hire trashcans, collectors, and security. For all that I can support a sin tax or however the city country would derive the needed funds -- and then just let people go there. Forget high end mixed use developments, water parks, CSU/Tri-C expansion, outlet malls, Ferrari dealerships, anything with conmen like B.S. (Bob Stark), and other longterm fantasies. Just give it to the public, and let us enjoy it as we would a scaled down Boston Commons, Central Park, Zilker Park, etc. See what happens organically. Maybe add an entrance fee to help with upkeep and security. No way Bibb has the balls or political clout to do what Daley did - and frankly that park is exceptionally underutilized with an enormous amount of erosion problems - but bless that man for the attempt. Also screw him for the parking meters scandal.
  5. I have got to get in this studies racket. For decades those consultants just make up and regurgitate the same sh*t and get paid.

Trevor Bauer suspended 2 full seasons https://www.mlb.com/news/trevor-bauer-suspension Don't tell Jimmy and Dee. One sexual deviant per team is enough. Also holy sh*t, two years. that doesn't include time served! The poor, poor headcase. Meanwhile, Yankees fans are cheering Chapman like he's Tom Hanks, and that animal is making $15 mill/yr. What a world.

https://sports.yahoo.com/trevor-bauer-files-lawsuit-against-020551255.html Trevor Bauer files lawsuit against woman who accused him of sexual assault It's like baseball's version of Jhonny Depp and Amber Heard. All four headcases need to disappear; hell, the accuser in this case basically has.
  8. Same reason we take our shoes off at airports. Nonsense security theater originating from one dummy's fragile ego.

I have to believe there have been similar attempts before, but Episode 7 of Only Murders in the Building was revolutionary.
  10. Nervous Dog is wonderful. My dad literally goes there every morning.

There's just too much smoke and fire with this guy, and we, meaning fans, have allowed celebrities, athletes and politicians to get away with so much damage for too long. Hell, we still do. God knows how many Pittsburgh fans still clamor for Roethlisberger despite him raping at least two women. And the only reason Ray Rice got blackballed was because it was on video; otherwise, he'd still be playing or at least ramping up his career. Cosby, Weinstein, Spacey, Trump...once the accusers reach double digits, it's pretty clear the kind of person you are. And I don't want to see him on and off the field representing the Browns, receiving accolades and cheers, giving talks at charities, starring in commercial and video games, etc. Say what you want for Mayfield, but no one is accusing him of forcing their mouth on his privates.

As long as that deviant plays for the Browns, they won't get a single cheer from me. Let 'em go 17-0 and score 100 in the Superbowl. None of it matters. The team and brand are poison.

I wonder if people still revere that old fossil. Besides Jimmy and Dee, I mean they're pretty clear how they feel about women who are assaulted.
  14. First place!

Not just any massage therapists, but those with questionable documentation, of whom he purposely sought in order that they, based on their vulnerability, would be terrified to come forward. What a charmer. I hope the Browns offensive line have a conversation with each other and recognize their moral responsibilities to the team, the city, and those victimized by sexual predators.
  16. Pepper Pike rabbi arrested, accused of seeking to meet agent posing online as teen, prosecutors say https://www.cleveland.com/court-justice/2022/04/pepper-pike-rabbi-arrested-accused-of-seeking-to-meet-agent-posing-online-as-teen-prosecutors-say.html Fairmount Temple certainly had its issues with head rabbis being cheating horndogs - (Gertman and Gelfan come to mind), but man, this is a whole level of depravity. Excommunicate this bastard.
  17. I can understand Starbucks' concerns... but it still feels strange. The Starbucks was such a tiny shop (75 square feet?) so rent must have been comparable negligible to other stores. I bet they were pulling $2500 a day or so (figure $6/person on average, 35-45 people per hour, 10 hours a day). Just a guess. One problem with Beachwood Place is that it's boring. I get the days of bookstores, record shops and electronic stores are dead, but my god there is no variety there. Food, clothes, jewels, repeat and rinse. No wonder my dad hates going. Not a direct criticism of Beachwood Place; just a frustrated observation on these changing times.

Didn't the Browns say they didn't want to trade him, and they can't eat the $18 mill by releasing him. Factor in his being somewhat injury prone, mayyyyyybe a slight headcase, and that he'll be a free agent in a year anyway... man, what a bizarre situation.
  19. Certainly everyone's situation and experiences are different; I've just been fortunate to not have any issues with it. I really think there's some massive untapped potential with the Little Italy to Ohio City or Lakewood route. An easy day trip in either direction. Edit: Green road shuttle again. Uch.
  20. I went to Beachwood Place a few times this weekend. Granted there are some vacancies, but it didn't seem like there were significantly more than usual. One of the department store's adjacent lower floors is pretty barren - I forgot which - but that's the only thing that really stuck out. Also, Dillard's has done a nice job spacing the racks, and it looks like there's improved lighting. That the Starbucks is still closed defies reason. My dad likes the North bar too. I'm not a hoppy IPA fan, but it was fun going to happy hour there nonetheless. Like old times at McCormicks (yeah I know that one is still empty).
  21. Gotta give credit where it's due. The red line to the airport makes life so much easier when traveling solo, yet it always seems so dead. Absolutely baffling; my hunch is a lot of east siders are not familiar with it Plus the red line literally bridges the divide between east and west sides. Little Italy to Lakewood in 30 minutes. A person can see a lot of fun Cleveland on the cheap without worry about parking.

Nationals might be sold. Half the time I forget they even exist. Seems like Vegas or San Antonio are really itching for another team. Though I'd like to see it in Columbus (if only) or Indianapolis.
  23. It's such hideous, intentionally vague legislation. My god so much of this country truly, at a genetic level, did not want a black president, and are desperately seeking new national scapegoats in retaliation. Well, the deplorables certainly found them, and their traitor-leaders are clever and patient enough to pass such insidious bills. Bin Laden must be laughing in his water grave.

I read that too, but you would think with Nolan's skill, he'd employ some techniques to really show the gravity of the events. Dunkirk was a very good movie - as a movie, but it's so far apart from the reality of the events that it's practically science fiction.
  25. TBideon replied to a post in a topic in Urbanbar
Dunkirk was wonderful, but I'm not sure about Nolan's choice to keep the beach so pristine and tranquil. Where was all the equipment? The hardware? The dead and injured bodies? The 400,000 soldiers? You see a few thousand soldiers patiently waiting in single lines, and that's it! My god, the city looked perfectly in-tact outside of some random black smoke in places. Watch the 5-minute Dunkirk scene in Atonement. Now THAT was closer to the actual horror. Also, Legion Season 2 is BORING.
