Not worth it. Keep that sicko away.

Bad enough Browns fans STILL glorify Jim Brown. We don't need another violent scumbag representing the team.
  3. I don't know... keeping those eyesores to appease Frank's fools seems like a stretch. Perhaps Mayor Bibb just hasn't gotten around to it, and that other things have merited attention. Or perhaps he wants the bollards as a capital improvement project so there can be photo ops, geriatrics with shovels, diverse children happily cheering nearby, all of which are capped with an inaccessible and poorly worded cleveland.com article. Kind of an easy win there.
  4. Mayor Wu in Boston is certainly trying to make that a reality and has been expanding free fares for a number of heavily used bus lines. Now I have no idea of how MBTA funding works, but, frankly, if she thinks it's beneficial and not too costly to the city and region, then I believe her. Why can't RTA experiment with free fares for a little while, especially now that some commuters may be more apt to use public transportation due to oil and gas being so expensive?
  5. We'd be better off burning the money and keeping some homeless warm for a bit. An absolutely unnecessary scam. Public Square seemed to survive before this sh*t was a thought. As for NOLA, I could see them more a target due to the massive tourist populations and refineries. Perhaps it makes sense there.

    Maybe they're on reruns.
  7. Just ship those ugly things to Frank and family's homes. Meaningless security theater, which, in this case, was due to Frank's hurt feelings that Public Square had to remain open for traffic. Forget this bollard bollocks. Muslim terrorists, Trump insurrectionists, or Portland antifa aren't going to bother the residents at May Company or the Park building.

Encanto was very charming. Great music, animation style, layered characters, etc. There was a lot of nuance too. Well done Disney!

Gilded Age completely redeems Cynthia Dixon from the epic nightmare that shall never be named. Great show too.
  10. Flats was still an Irish shanty town around this time. Fascinating footage.
  11. Always good to read a booster article now and again.
  12. Ah Dohar Meats, how I miss you. Granted West Side Market is more similar to Reading Terminal than Pike Place, but boy wouldn't it be nice if it mirrored the latter. It could be a hell of a draw.
  13. "Bibb shared some examples about how the city could grow revenues long-term. For example, the city could work with large corporations to offer incentives to get their work-from-home employees to return to their offices downtown, shifting income tax revenues back toward the city, as opposed to the suburbs." https://www.cleveland.com/news/2022/02/cleveland-mayor-justin-bibbs-budget-plan-with-expenses-outpacing-income-raises-eyebrows-on-city-council.html?outputType=amp Cleveland, or rather the Cleveland region, should embrace WFH and offer employers incentives to commit to it. That's such an important part of attaining and retaining talent since Cleveland can't really compete with coast cities on salary and benefits. This idea, and granted it's nothing concrete, is a backwards approach, as offering landlords property tax exemptions, free dry cleaning, subsidized RTA or reduced parking rates, etc, to drag employees back to the office is unwise longterm. Now, if Bibb's talking about the city/region working with companies to offer free full daycare, college tuition reimbursement, multi-year retention bonuses, 3 or 4-day work weeks, dramatically more PTO, or even equity in exchange for return to work, then that would be something! I'd be curious to hear the specifics of what Bibb is thinking.
  14. And the poaching continues.

"'I told the story earlier about being at a town hall, the bar and restaurant down the street, where I told folks, "I'm going to date Morgan Harper. She's like AOC only smarter." After hearing that answer I actually think she's like AOC only dumber,.." Got a feeling the Ratners will be sending another open letter (hey, it's only been ten years since the last). If Bruce had any balls, he'd openly disown his scumbag son too.
  16. Well, that was f-ucked. The whole Valieva situation. Female ice skaters and gymnasts have long been sacrificed due to the world's fetishizing the elegance and majesty of their performances. That sh*t has to change with age limits going forward. No more of this child abuse. Bach, Eteri, the CAS, IOC, hell, even Lipinski and Weir failed these girls. And Russian athletes, whatever they call themselves, need to sit out another 20 years for this ugliness. What a sh*tshow.

Goodbye Peacemaker. I didn't love the first season, but didn't hate it either. A solid B- with an A+ opening credits. Been marathoning X-Files while skipping over the sh*t episodes. Boy there were some bad ones out there. Next up: Severance, Inventing Anna, finishing Luther, rewatching Another Life. then season 2... hmmm... sooner or later I'll commit to the Wire.
  18. Columbus is increasing 0.84% annually. So... is that 7 or 8 years compounded and extrapolated? As for WFH and COVID, I don't think those will be detriments of any significance.

Seems like more and more people are using Curb these days. It's certainly been cheaper in my experience.
  20. Were there any sports besides curling on Tuesday? My god it was on for hours and hours and hours, and I still don't understand the rules.
  21. Come on Bibb, that's a weak excuse and makes the city look minor league. Guaranteed this wouldn't be an issue in NOLA or LA. https://www.cleveland.com/news/2022/02/public-safety-timing-constraints-behind-clevelands-denial-of-extended-hours-for-bars-restaurants-during-nba-all-star-weekend-mayor-says.html
  22. Guaranteed that imbecile has particular images and videos on his phone and computer. We all know those venomous types.

Superstore is a perfect COVID show. Light, charming, an easy watch. It has that Good Place, Brooklyn 99, Parks and Recreation, etc, positive vibe. The pilots of American Auto and Abbott Elementary were serviceable. I'll give them another shot at some point. Luther is fine, at least through three episodes. But it hasn't really captured me. 17 episodes to go, I guess. Peacemaker is fun at times, and perhaps has the greatest opening credits ever, but it can be a bit of a chore to watch. I suspect the show thinks it's much more clever and witty than it really is. Still a huge fan of the proper Suicide Squad movie from which it spun off. Carnivale is a little like Luther. It's fine, but after 8 episodes my interest is waning. The best part of the show is Clancy Brown's voice. The last Sunny season was enjoyable, felt fresh, and Charlie hit it out of the park with an out-of-character dramatic performance in the finale. Between that and Mac's Dance, the show still works moooooooostly. Nightmare Alley is a great movie. Highly recommend.
  24. I too am curious if Boomerang Brian is Bibb's lover or mother. What a completely rational and well thought post.

No wage caps for CEOs and executives, celebrities, baseball players, investors, white collar professionals, blue, etc. No one is stopping them from making their nut. Just as long as you're not a nurse. https://www.baynews9.com/fl/tampa/news/2022/02/04/travel-nurses-worried-congress-could-cap-pay Travel nurses worried Congress could cap pay The horror: some nurses have an alternative to make a little more money rather than suffer abuse from a single employer provider and (often) feral families and patients. We can't allow that. Nope. And instead of looking to allocate money from other sources if lacking federal reimbursements is the alleged culprit, the push is to limit middle class incomes even more. Just when you think this country can't get more retarded, it manages to find a way. Capitalism for ME not for THEE.
