  1. Good lord Santana!!!
  2. $10,000 per day unless there is a 30 day notice to the FAA
  3. https://www.cleveland.com/metro/2019/08/should-burke-lakefront-airport-close-coalition-keeps-important-question-alive-steven-litt.html It seems like we get these regurgitated articles every 4 months with the same back and forth. That said, 34,000 flights in 2018 compared to 100,000 in 2000? I wonder how long people would notice it was closed if they just x'd the runways and called it a day.
  4. Meanwhile, FIRST PLACE FIRST PLACE FIRST PLACE!!!!!! Not that Cleveland.com gives a flying f-ck. Whoopie doo Dee Haslem gave a pointless interview and the Browns won a preseason game. La dee da stop the presses.
  5. Congrats for fixing a problem you invented

Well... the jury is still out on your last point. The rest of which I agree.
  7. Those are issues, but the real problems stem from China's IP theft and extortion. Those are in the half a trillion a year range. Some "ally". And god knows what the mandatory technology transfers or joint ventures come out to.

Help, I can't stop marathoning Another Life. It's both shockingly awful and addictive at the same time. Gossip Girl meets Alien meets Annihilation meets Star Trek TNG/Voyager meets Community meets... Roger Corman and Ed Wood movies? The writing and acting aside, has there ever been a less qualified crew outside of parodies in the history of tv and movies? And yet I keep clicking on the next episode arrow. 4 to go tonight. Should finish by sunrise.
  9. The Michael Brantley line hurts a little. That was an enormous loss.
  10. We don't need another distractive headcase; Puig can go punch a wall somewhere else.

I wonder if that's internet forums in general. Look at the majority of reddit posters. Y chromosomes all over, especially from the more hateful posters.
  12. A little early for cynicism folks
  13. KIPNIS!!!
  14. Similar to the economic arguments against banning slavery, prohibiting child labor, and enacting minimum wage laws. Raising wages = economic catastrophe has always been a boogeyman argued within the conservative race-to-the-bottom mentality. It's so draining and wrong.
  15. Lol, hey, I'm convinced.
  16. Non-living wage jobs = the government subsidizing the employees who qualify for Medicaid, SSI and other assistance. So whoopie doo, society is subsidizing the employer who is so generously paying $14,000 a year after taxes to an employee. You've got to tie in minimum wage jobs to cost of living adjustments regionally, or it's a meaningless number. As for your criminals example, the reality is a lot will return to crime since these minimum or near minimum wage jobs pay so little and there are a complete lack of opportunities for employment growth once you have a record. And criminal recidivism is a HELL of a lot more costly then society mandating a few extra dollars to get to living wage conditions (though how $15/hr an hour is a living wage is beyond me). The way everything is set up now just isn't working..
  17. Let them. One less vacant lot in a city infected with them
  18. I know this isn't directly relevant to the Burke conversation, but Meigs is absolutely not re-opening any time soon, regardless of what a failed mayoral candidate (Willie Wilson, I believe) had promised. Granted, Northerly Island has been mildly disappointing (the erosion problem is worrisome in particular), but the business community has not been clamoring or threatening to convert Northerly Island to an airport. It is decisively a 90 acre park with concerts, walking paths, a tiny beach, and the occasional special exhibit like the Hamilton one currently.
  19. Packages get stolen from good areas all the time, so imagine what happens in grittier or by grittier spots. These lockers are a godsend when you don't have a doorman.
  20. Indians having quite the nice run lately. ...I still can't figure out those two Baltimore games. 26-0???
  21. Talk about a challenging job. Good luck to her.
  22. The backers stated it would start seeing profits after 5 years (hah!), though there has been some retroactive nonsense how it was never actually supposed to make money directly. At 50 percent empty (once HIMSS) leaves, a ridiculous lack of paying tenants, and no real concrete vision (Kennedy, Jones, etc, seem to have abandoned this albatross), I can't see how it's in any way a success. There are some silver linings here and there such as now we have an updated convention center and sexy hotel, but ultimately what a clusterf-uck. At least for the moment.
  23. Guess I'm having crow for lunch today. I really thought this would be Warehouse District 2.0: Electric Boogaloo. Good to see another crane in the sky in the near future.
  24. Scooters are a nightmare in dense environments, but I can see it being fun in more sprawly places.
  25. Hah! I was thinking that almost verbatim
