  1. I hope you guys have the same passion for chastising, if not boycotting, the Browns, who are closely associated with Jim Brown, who has been abusing women for decades. Hell, he even tried to murder at least one. He's done a hell of a lot worse things than the ex-owner of Town Hall, yet Cleveland - and the complicit Browns organization and fanbase - still grovel at his feet.
  2. And when were Gilbert's most recent tweets on that space again? 2013? 2014? Call me cynical

    They do ties in football??

    I am ready for Fall!!!!
  5. Wish they could have one of those WeWork coworking places in Pinecrest. Those things are goldmines for the community, for commercial real estate developers, for entrepreneurs, for morale, etc. The city and region have enough restaurants.
  6. Graham Veysey should run. One of the nicest and trustworthy people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing, and he's doing a ton for Ohio City too.
  7. Lol, now that is one strange list.
  8. Perhaps downtown was seedier/grittier on some level, but the city had, what, 200,000 more people and a downtown daytime labor force of 200,000? 300,000? That must have been something. Plus a dozen Fortune 500s at the beginning of the decade and 15-20 mills still in operation. The Flats heyday. Voinivich. Bernie Kozar. Inner ring suburbs as strong as ever save for East Cleveland (did Warrensville Hts collapse by then?). Not sure things are better today. Prettier undoubtedly, but man the city must've still been a major player then.

I know very little about football and casually watch if I'm at a Cleveland pub. Put me down for 2-14.

It feels like every off-season people speculate the Browns will win 5-7 games.
  11. So Meyer is suspended and Jim Brown is STILL being celebrated? What a world.
  12. more like the "abandoned Cleveland" section. I don't think another JCC donation is going to make things right this time, Ratners.
  13. Could be an engineering issue, could be addressing concerns with the winds and lake effect conditions, plus the lake gets awfully hard to see 8-10 hours of the day depending on the month. Also, highway canyon-style buildings have interesting views with lots of constant lights and activities. Of course I would prefer balconies with water views.
  14. Jones Day used to do that too, at least with firm receptions. At least in 2002.
  15. I've always thought the NOLA outlet mall serves as a nice counterbalance to the French Quarter, which is a very short walk away. Plus it's right by the streetcar that takes you to Magazine Street, Garden District, Tulane/Loyola, and other tourist attractions. But outlet malls need parking. No way can hotelled tourists support them alone.

Do you guys ever stop to think how amazing Who Framed Roger Rabbit was. All those historic, IP-issued characters in a dark noir kids-and-adults film (about highway expansions, no less), with an amazing script, top notch performances, and flawless special effects. No CGI either. As an adult, I really have come to appreciate the movie in so many more ways.
  17. Doubtful, unless there is a massive population influx. Neigborhoods today that are arguably flourishing, like the ones west, never became no man's land wastelands like so much of Midtown. Tremont had a rough time in the 70s and 80s, but it was still a real neighborhood with homes, commercial activity, and a healthy mix of middle and working class near the low income households. Also, racially, yeah, it was still somewhat diverse, and that balance had a huge impact in slowing a total collapse. Midtown... a much sadder fall without such stabilizing forces. Gays, hipsters, foreigners, artists, millenials, boomerangs, commercial developers - yeah, they're just not interested. Too many other affordable options out there

Any girl who is upset you aren't online isn't worth your time or paranoid. Just have a killer LinkedIn profile.

Deactivate your account guys. It feels so good to avoid that toxic mess
  20. Good lord the High Line is so f'ing cool. You couldn't ask for a better repurposing of an elevated rail line.
  21. Though less a phenomenon, the "It's So Cold in the D" song is somewhat analogous, and it didn't seem to have any impact on Detroit's investments and current momentum. People need to be less sensitive and reactive with comedy videos, especially satirical/ironic ones.
  22. It's kind of funny how certain videos strike a chord unexpectedly. They really were lightening in a bottle, another Chocolate Rain, Numa Numa Kid, Charlie Bit Me, Leroy Jenkins, that couldn't be replicated if you tried. Totally harmless fun that people took far too seriously.
  23. I dunno, employers are just adamant about not raising wages under any circumstance. God forbid they pay what the market dictates.
  24. All about that arcade and theater before the first renovation. Good times there in the 90s.
