Andre had a hell of a grip.
  2. Barring deferments - and BOY is that going to be the future of professional athlete compensations - yes, Browns players would owe 2.5% for home (and away?) games. Visiting players would still be immune (2015 Jock tax decision) .
  3. True, but it's not like Celeste or Voinovich helped turn the tide. Lausche was pretty solid though.
  4. I have to disagree. The reality is Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati are competing for a fixed pie of jobs and population. Columbus transplants often come from other Ohio cities, which is great for Columbus but not the regions who are losing out their educated 20s and 30s population. And that's if they even stay in Ohio. I also don't know if regions 130 miles away will get spinoff businesses, at least to any material amount.
  5. There are a number of articles of why Intel chose Columbus, certainly more than articles detailing why they declined the 39 other bidders: Land readiness, community support, local leadership support, access to water, access to utility infrastructure, access to educated population, lack of brownfields, reputable city/schools, etc. Someone had to get it eventually. It's too bad it wasn't Cleveland, but Intel had their conditions and they seem fair.
  6. I'd say the diference is 2026 and 2028 elections. Pennsylvania getting a huge win with US Steel under the MAGA administration won't be forgotten by their voters. And Goncavles' behavior was definitely performative for a certain audience.
  7. A bit early for doom and gloom with Cleveland Cliffs. Assuming Vance and DeWine are done celebrating the recent anti-trans law, I imagine they will get involved on some level. Then again, if Trump tells his bitches to stand down for a big win in a swing state, then I suppose they'll go back to celebrating the anti-trans victory and keep out of it.
  8. Is retail 16 miles south of Cleveland really hurting downtown? Unless they're cannibalizing existing businesses, it seems to be a different market i.e. Macedonia, Richfield, North Royalton, Hinckley, etc.
  9. Consolidating relatively high crime and impoverished NE Ohio cities into their own state doesn't seem wise. Franklin County and to a degree Hamilton County hold their weight with the former having a tremendous amount of economic momentum. It wouldn't be healthy losing our sister cities. And, unless they themselves are trans, I'm pretty sure the fine citizens of Akron, Canton, Youngstown, etc, don't give two s**ts about trans right for the most part, certainly not as a deciding factor to live in the region. Jobs, economic opportunities, cost-of-living/legacy costs, crime/perceptions, and weather have quite a bit more importance. Why else are so many pro-choice people moving to the Carolinas, Georgia, Texas, Florida, Arizona, etc.
  10. Am I misreading that? The actual restaurant is still closing in Shaker Square, right? Night town was one of those Greater Cleveland staples we all grew up with and hoped would stay forever. Like Tommy's, Slyman's, Corky's, Habor Inn, Mama Santa's, Sokolowski's, dozens of others. I'm bummed it's closed for real this time.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/big12/2025/01/10/deion-sanders-shedeur-sanders-nfl-draft-intervene/77598691007/ Deion Sanders says there are a couple NFL teams he won't allow son Shedeur to play for Gee, I wonder who one of those teams are.
  12. So Jimmy pays to demolish a stadium he doesn't own and wants taxpayers to fund a stadium they won't own. What a world.

Guess the downtown hotels and bars won't be making s**t that weekend.
  14. Other countries now have to make dramatic changes with the corrupted US government. We aren't Japan's true ally anymore, not in the same way as pre-MAGA, and our former allies can't trust Russia's proxy to honor these agreements. Japan is better off staying away for their own sakes.
  15. It's a pretty development but isn't quite clicking, especially when it's cold. Not quite a mall, it's a food hall with very limited shopping, luxury apartments, and rapid access, but I wouldn't call it a draw yet. Van Aken needs year-long attractions- art galleries, indoor mini golf, bowling, whirlyball, an arthouse theater, a high end gym, a comedy or improv theater, advertised events, and some kind of anchor tenant. Visible security for warmer months too. Get ahead of inevitable... issues.

Not a fan of that nonsense either.

I deactivated Facebook during Trump's first reign but really should have during Obama's terms. I don't know anything about algorithms, just that there was a lot of racist and ugly anti-liberal comments whenever people posted articles, and it got worse by the month. Whatever the f "DEI virtue-signaling" is, it was certainly benign compared to the rage and chaos on the other side. And now it's 2025, and the maniacs are in charge with normal people paying the consequences. Social media and its echo chambers of hate are a big part of that. Dangerous days ahead.

That's not nice. However, E Rocc, sorry man, but conservative brainrot has completely ruined social media. All their endless ugliness and proud ignorance just kills those sites. I never liked Twitter but absolutely loved Facebook in 2003 when I went to Northwestern. It was such an improvement of MySpace and Friendster, AOL IM too, and full of good vibes and intentions. A very idyllic time with social media being a positive or at least a fun distraction. These days, Facebook is so filled with spam, AI bots, and never-ending MAGA proselytization rage. There's no point in being on, save for keeping in touch with family/friends. The rest is just complete garbage full of fake accounts and rotten people.
  19. It certainly is for auto and electronics. Our trade deficit with them isn't helping matters either.

Honestly, folks, what are you doing on Facebook and Twitter at all? They are both cesspools on every conceivable level, even before the brainrotted took over, and add no value any longer. It's over. It's BEEN over.
  21. State should respond with a revenue-sharing agreement so that Ohioans can benefit from the investment. Otherwise, DeWine should stop taking that criminal's calls.
  22. I feel the nuts and bolts of why this law is bad has been discussed in multiple boards. Let's just say it's too vague and contravenes federal law.

Probably Cam Ward. I can't imagine they'll take Deon's son and all his baggage.

There has to be parking nearby. No way Costco and its already limited margins can exist primarily for nearby residents unless the business model drastically changes. Or maybe it's playing the loss leader game i.e. Heinens, Times Square, Michigan Avenue (in better days).
  25. I could have sworn there was a Tower Records at Tower City.
