Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
Jesus wept, what kind of sentence is this from the "objective" Cleveland media "Amazon found Cleveland's bid so unappealing that the company did not rank it among the top 20." http://www.cleveland.com/naymik/index.ssf/2018/04/court_saysamazon_hq_siteis_pub.html Not as ugly as the epic Sharon Reed/Lebron debacle, but what a pathetic and bias sentence

Isn't that like saying if a man is forcing himself on a woman, better she not struggle or else he might kill her?

Cashless Restaurants
Jesus, is everything about race with some people? Cash is dirty, coins are heavy, hard to completely monitor. and expensive to produce. And people are apt to spend more when not limited by what they can scrounge in their pockets. Bunch of political pandering booshit as usual.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
End of the day it probably doesn't matter if RTA manages the problems better. Population stagnation and job sprawl are the fundamental reasons why things are so rough, so much more so than RTA management inadequacy.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
The streetcar in Tucson really has it down to a science. Walk in one of 4 double doors, tap your very reasonably priced card on the validator (cash not accepted)... and that's it. It isn't that complex, people pay (or I presume enough pay) via the honor code, and while the car isn't particularly fast, it does the job.

Hospital employees may qualify for a $30,000 forgivable loan, plus the 15 year abatement is locked in. But still, can you imagine spending that kind of money on 71st/Euclid? To each his own I guess.

Milwaukee has been involved in a shockingly ass-backwards ad campaign. The ads are focused specifically, only, on Chicago millenials who use the L, and that you could either be "commuting" home via the train in Chicago or saving a whopping 22 minutes in Milwaukee and drinking with your diverse group of friends in downtown Milwaukee. The ads are all the same: two photos, on the left a frumpy, tired-looking millennial standing or sitting on a half empty L train; and to the right a photo of a 30-year-old playing with his child, an athletic couple white water rafting, or the aforementioned beautiful people (each of a different ethnicity - and the exact same slim body type) having cocktails and cheering their saving 22 minutes. And at the heart of the physical ad, and these are also on the radio, is living in Milwaukee saves you 22 minutes from your commute. Apparently they are trying to make that number stick so the radio ads interchangibly mention that Milwaukee is 22 percent cheaper to live. What a coincidence. Whoever scammed the Milwaukee tourism bureau to funding this dogshit deserves it. Pure Michigan this sure as hell isn't.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
In the end, the Pro-Wahoo crowd really aren't Pro-Wahoo. They're just looking for a reason to be pissed off, blame Obama or libtards for this oh-so-unfair overly politically correct world, and justify ugly behavior. We all know the type.

Cleveland: Retail News
I am surprised it hasn't taken off more already. Every vacany in Tower City and Galleria should be filled with pop-up shops, art galleries and indoor monthly art walks, shared space for startup businesses, all at rent free or near rent free prices. People may be buying online but they also want brick and mortar places for networking, meetups, start-up groupspace, singles mixers, informal classes, etc. Restaurants should have grocery stores. Clothing shops should have yoga classes. Bars should have meetup events. Etc etc. So much potential.

Cleveland: Retail News
Retail stores need to follow the Capital One Cafe, State Farm Next Door, or shared coworking business models. Retail isn't enough to be a draw; they need to explore using their space for additional purposes more social in nature.

Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport
I wonder how utilized the Cleveland lakefront parks are doing currently. Outside of warm months, does Edgewater Park and Whiskey Island/Wendy Park get busy? Voinivich Park had a decent July 4th crowd but it seems underused in general. And is Gordon Park in the east side worth a visit? And what about the big one by Bratenahl? I've never been. Burke should not be an airport but I just don't know if a park is something the region would realistically utilize as a whole. Maybe a military base (our enemies don't just live in warm climates, after all)?

Millennials
Oh that makes sense. It's like the way of life in the Midwest with all its amenities are underappreciated due to consumer ignorance, which artificially lowers the demand, and thus price, of properties.

How do you know if property is undervalued? Seems like the value is what someone will and won't pay for it.

Career Networking / Job Posting Thread
I'd suggest trying to narrow what jobs are ideal. Look at some large and midsize company job openings, see what's a good fit to your background and interests. I'm guessing corporate strategy is a strong contender. Once you know what you want, or at least have a few in mind, I would try to blend your current duties into those fields as much as possible. And I would suggest applying for jobs before your leases are up. If you can get your foot in the door, then jump at it and look into hiring someone to quicken your transition. Too much can change in 18 months - hell, it may take that long just to get any kind of reasonable offer.
