  1. 2018 so far: DOW: up .82% to 24,922.68 NASDAQ: up 2.35% to 7,065.53 S&P 500: up 1.5% to 2,713.83
  2. Good point; I misremembered that. Apple was also in the early 700s when it split.
  3. Let me preface this by saying what an utter ABOMINATION this whole development is. That said, Slyman's wasn't too bad. It goes without saying it doesn't hold a candle to the original, but what ever does. It's pretty good for what it is, and with parking by Jacks getting more and more stressful, I could see going back.
  4. Like the dumb leading the damned. Or is it vice versa. So when are Amazon and Google splitting 7-1? It seems like $1000 is that sweet spot.

You're right. And if Dorsey said something like that, I think Dorsey would be leaving soon after. Dorsey's "real players", then "oops, I meant to say good players" comments probably didn't help team unity and morale. You can't be in the NFL unless you're at a nearly superhuman level of player in the first place. They're all phenoms, just at varying degrees, and the issues with the team have not been player quality. It's always been top down, structural.
  6. New York got exceptionally expensive in the last 20 years and outpriced a lot of gangbangers/murderers/enablers. And they have a police force/port authority of 34,000 uniformed (with an additional 50+ thousand desk jockeys), which is practically a small army. Most importantly, New York also gained an additional million people, mostly of middle to upper income means, not the types to shoot up cars or rival gangbangers. And their educated Asian/Indian immigrant population exploded, which is always key to stabilizing neighborhoods. Add it all up, and NYC crime rates, in particular homicides, are down dramatically. Cleveland's story is quite different.

Plus it's nice to see other rust belt cities with similar struggles succeed in any venture. Jacksonville can take a powder next week.

I'm with you on Buffalo! As for my disdain with the parade, well, I guess it just seems petty, needy, attention-seeking, etc. Kind of makes everyone there look like a sore loser desperately trying to give a middle finger to the organization by any means necessary, other than changing their television channels and not buying merchandise. It turns off Browns players, turns off prospective Browns players, and I think people will be laughing at those Cleveland fans, and Cleveland in general, rather than with them when ESPN, yahoo sports, etc, show clips. It would be a pathetic epilogue to a pathetic season. And the same idiots attending the parade will be the ones still buying 2018 tickets, watching the Browns on television, purchasing merchandise, tailgating in those parking lots, arguing on Cleveland.com and reddit and ESPN forums, treating the draft day like the f'ing Superbowl, etc. They never learn.

I feel for the guy. The parade/protest is lame, pathetic, and all this anti-Jackson criticism is ridiculous. The Browns have been a historically terrible team for all but two or three years since their return, and the difference between going 0-16 and 3-13 is marginal. They were shit before him, and they'll be shit when he gets tossed; the issue is the culture as a whole, not the individual. Just a lot of misplaced anger and outrage. Might as well play the Cleveland tourism videos on the stadium big screen during the event.

    Hello McClane
  11. Realistically, there are no solutions because you can't save those who won't save themselves, liberals would never permit banishing or criminalizing homelessness, and conservatives would never permit funding enough halfway homes, rehab centers, and adult care institutions. Best we can all do is volunteer at shelters and soup kitchens, give food, blankets, or bottled water, and encourage or incentivize medical professionals to travel remotely to give cursory examinations to those willing to accept.
  12. People move there because there are a ton of jobs and young people. Cost of living is pretty impressive too. And... well... the demographics there are conducive of a strong and desirable city with low crime relative to other major urban areas. 140'ish homicides in a city of over 860,000 is not awful.
  13. I'm definitely grabbing a drink there sometime in the near future. Thanks for the photos.

Well then how about mammoth fines to those loudmouth cab drivers who are on f'ing partylines or blaring music the whole ride. Let's start with a $500 fine for all documented evidence.

To vote for an incompetent like Trump, and especially to support him currently, is indicative of being ignorant, brainless, hell, treasonous. As for some ironically supporting Obama beforehand, well, I guess those morons gravitated to Trump's malice, immaturity and proud stupidity over time. That or they realllllllllly were bothered by the oh so shocking server scandal.

Thoughts: ignorant people would support and vote Trump regardless of Jimmy, Russo, and Janeway's husband. Hatred for Obama, liberals and a destroyed working class economy are why Trump is bored at 1600, not because those losers got caught.
  17. The ones I know are staunch Republican-conservative.

It's actually about 600,000, metro a little over 2 million

Milwaukee has 600,000 people, six Fortune 500s, quite a few vibrant and safe neighborhoods, a fantastic, accessible waterfront, and is only 90 miles from Chicagoland. I don't know much about Ikea, and am frankly fascinated that its absence warrants so much conversation, but can see how Milwaukee is a more attractive market.

Well I won't argue that it's sad our homicide rates are appalling by Western World standards, but a 14 percent drop in NYC from a year ago, in a city that used to have over 1000 annual homicides with much smaller populations, is still something to applaud.
  22. Seems like a fair price. I mean look at that location.

New York is on track to have fewer than 300 murders this year in a city of well over 8.5 million people. Unbelievable. http://www.mcall.com/news/nationworld/pennsylvania/mc-nws-new-york-killings-record-low-2017-story.html "Killings hit record low in New York City, despite terror attacks" Meanwhile Chicago currently has 662 murders in a city of 2.7 million people. Equally unbelievable.
  24. Looks like the old Bond store on E9/Euclid
  25. More than half of the country invests in the stock market. That's a lot of 401k's and Roth Iras that people are self-funding; it isn't just the institutional investors anymore. These gains are having real impacts on people's lives.
