US Economy: News & Discussion
Goodness: DOW: 24,792.20 (up to 25.45% year-to-date) S&P: 2,690.16 (up 20.16% year-to-date) NASDAQ: 6,994.76 (up 29.94% year-to-date) Say what you will about whether or not the markets are significant indicators of the economy and to what degree (which depends on how you define the economy, I suppose), but rest assured if everything were down those percentages instead of up, there would be a lot of chaos in the job markets. And probably these boards as well.

Millennials
Millennials being blamed for EVERYTHING. http://www.chicagotribune.com/dining/restaurants/ct-swedish-bakery-in-andersonville-closing-after-88-years-20170202-story.html Swedish Bakery in Andersonville closing after 88 years “Plus it’s hard to attract millennials who are looking for a food experience. We’re pretty humdrum. We’re just a bakery.” What an lame and tone-deaf jab. Is ignorance now a signal of pride for older generations?

I really don't want to dislike it... but damnit, it's just not that pleasant.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
"Officials credit the line with spurring more than $6 billion in growth nearby. Ridership has risen about 60 percent." Say what? I know RTA pads their statistics with those transfers, but still...60 percent? And don't get me started on their bullshit about $6 billion in investments.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
I need to review the tapes, but I think it's possible this team sucks. ...sometimes reddit posters come up with gems!

Cleveland: Slavic Village: Development and News
Also, frankly, the demographics never flipped to the severity of most east side neighborhoods; that alone gives it a significant leg up.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
At least in the US, the origin of drug laws as well as the "War on Drugs" definitely have significant xenophobic and racial overtones. Outside of Trump supporters - and frankly their opinions are on par with Holocaust Revisionists - most rational people would agree with that on some level. That said, a society that permits the legal purchase of all drugs effectively is complicit if not enabling mass suicide. Forget just cocaine and heroin, people would be able to purchase formerly prescriptive narcotics like Vicodin, Oxycontin, Propofol, Metahdone, Dilaudid etc, that utterly change one's physiology, and we would have mass casualties and enormous collateral damage making today's outbreaks the "good old days".

Might as well legalize murder and rape while you're at.

NYC: Hudson Yards
^^I'm surprised that's your reaction. I think it looks gorgeous, a complete rebirth of Western Manhattan with unlimited potential. Old meets new with the trains disappearing under those behemoths. Look up Lakeshore East in Chicago. Pretty similar to Hudson Yards and an absolute treasure for the city.

Go with Golden Monkey. Makes everything better in life, even Dee's expansion team.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
He sure negotiated a terrible deal with the NFL, and the taxpayers have been paying for it ever since. Otherwise he's pretty accomplished.

Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
^^LA, Seattle, San Fran, Omaha, Buffalo, Detroit and Chicago have condo shortages in their downtowns as well. My impression was Portland had a tight market too.

Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
Plenty more properties in Tremont, Ohio City, Central, Slavic Village and St Clair/Superior, all of which are adjacent to downtown. Also, the condo market is tight everywhere - it's not just a downtown Cleveland thing.

Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
There are 9 available downtown properties on Redfin. Has your roommate looked at them?

Cleveland: Historic Photos
There is a pretty good book about Short Vincent in its glory years (say 30s-60s). The original East 4th but with more mobsters. Great jazz scene too there.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Well, that's sure a cheerful way to start the Thursday. Turn the whole f'ing thing into a homeless shelter; at least it'll do some good then.

Cleveland Mayoral Race 2017
You're right; the dirt bike saga is a blunder, a way of compromising with drug dealers and gang bangers - but with the opposite of emboldening them. As if they would use the track anyway... But the worst thing Frank has done is to hire Lance Mason. First, that animal got only 9 months for trying to kill his wife - boy, that's some judicial system we have here. And second, okay, the scumbag is out of prison. In what universe does it make sense to hire him for any public position, and one that works directly with female small business owners. Boy I wonder how they will feel about interacting with this animal. Is he going to be monitored by a third party at all times for when he snaps again? What kind of insurer would even cover this lunatic? Is the city currently developing a future settlement fund for his inevitable victim(s)? This is the WORST and DUMBEST thing Frank has done, and Zack should skip a few happy hours and jump all over it if he wants some political gain.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
Just turn the f'ing thing into an outlet mall already, call it the Fashion Outlets of Cleveland. Provide 3 or 4 hours free parking with proof of x dollars purchased, cross-promote it with Hopkins so people can shop while they wait to redline it for a flight. Probably not going to happen, but a man can dream damnit!
