Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport
Sure the mayor was corrupt, unethical and frankly an all around lousy person, but he also had balls of steel to illegally seize an unnecessary downtown airport. Unfortunately it wasn't Burke. And now Northerly Park opens tomorrow. http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/Northerly-Island-Park-Opens-Friday-Chicago-323896021.html http://chicagoist.com/2015/09/02/new_northerly_island_park_has_a_lon.php#photo-8

If they get professionally audited, then maybe I'd believe it. But right now, not for a second.

Detroit: Developments and News
The Ratners certainly don't give a flying s-hit about Cleveland, that's for sure.

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
I've got to wonder how many of you guys have ever been to, more or less frequented, the Harbor Inn?

Cleveland: Retail News
Blame him for a lot of things, but Crocker isn't remotely drawing away shopping from downtown. Perhaps from other west side suburban malls, but Tower City, the Galleria, and lower Euclid were well into their advanced retail decline when Crocker was getting developed. Downtown wasn't getting those stores in the early 2000s anyway..

Cleveland: Retail News
At the very least, you have to admit the Ratners have an image problem with Tower City. It does feel like they gave up on trying to lease the stores to reputable businesses, and are focusing their attentions on projects anywhere but Cleveland.

Cleveland: North Coast Transportation Center
I think it would be too small at the Tubbs center, though why couldn't they just rebuild it into a full fledged transit center? Or maybe Greyhound buses could relocate behind Tower City at Huron (where Megabus used to pick up/drop off). And have Greyhound work a relationship with Tower City for a passengers only area inside?

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
God, I hope not. The walk from the Greyhound station to Tower City isn't great as it is (E13 to Euclid or Chester to E9 have a very desolate feel at night/early in the morning -- and the panhandlers have been getting more aggressive my last few trips). But it's significantly better than walking from the Amtrak station to TC, which is twice the distance - and W3 isn't the most pleasant walk at those hours either.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
DO NOT SIGN RAY RICE!!!!! It's bad enough the team and city revere Jim Brown.

Cleveland: Retail News
Good riddance! Hopefully all of these moves and updates pay off soon with more upscale retail. Dude, it's a food court. I don't think they're courting any Michelin restaurants for its spot, and they shouldn't. It's a loss for the mall which has seen quite a few due to General Growth's negligence in informing them of skyrocketing taxes and frankly a very shortsighted, if not corrupt, school board that pressured both the county board of revision and eventually the board of tax appeals that they wanted MO MONEY!!!! And here's the result: lots of holes in a once thriving mall.

Cuyahoga County Sin Tax
It was one of Oliver's better pieces. I say to hell with any team that blackmails a city to funding its stadium and associated perks. Minimal ancillary employment and subjective public morale do not come close to the hundreds of millions of dollars thrown away. It's like an anti-stimulus.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Police slowdowns and social media feuds have definitely lit a spark. My hunch is there are a lot more gun strawman purchasers too; those shops and secondary markets have done very well due to the OBAMA DONE TAKE DER GUNS fears that explode after every school shooting and mass shooting - and we sure have a lot of those in recent years. And when the nuts cool down and see BARRACK HUSSSSEINNNN OSAMA hasn't confiscated every gun in every household, Honeybooboo goes to a gun show or Craigslist and makes some of it back. And the gangs in southside Chicago have one less hurdle to take revenge for Little Mustard's recent death, with Indiana and its GUNS ARE JUST BENIGN TOOLS, BACKGROUND CHECK, MENTAL ILLNESS, WHAT'S THAT? mentality just a short drive away.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Been an awful year for homicides and shootings all over. Houston, Baltimore, Chicago, Milwaukee, even NYC and DC for God's sake. Why? Probably a combo of a rise in social media-related feuds, extremely high racial tensions, continuing decline of working class/blue collar neighborhoods as well as inner ring suburbs, continual bleeding of working class/blue collar/middle class jobs, escalating cost of college and beyond, and declining police pro-activity.

Ridesourcing
God forbid officials ever focus on the high prices of taxis, the incessant babbling of driver' telephone conversations, the bullshit broken credit card machines' excuses, the extreme and dangerous driving of many drivers, the filth and smells of many vehicles, the purposefully erroneous, costly routes drivers take, the unwillingness to drive to the suburbs, etc. No, let's focus on Uber and Lyft. Carpool taxes coming up next! These are the same assholes who are moaning about hotel taxes for people who rent out an extra bed or couch sporadically. Stifling innovation and a few extra dollars in the name of public safety and fairness is all they know. America's race to the bottom right here.

Earlier this year Jones New York had announced all stores were closing, with things winding down in the summer. If that's still the case, you got me.

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
^^You know, outside seating in downtown restaurants isn't exactly a rare phenomenon. Somehow every city in the world seems to manage despite having homeless populations, panhandlers and gutterpunks.

I don't recall any beggars bothering people at Cadillac Ranch and haven't heard any anecdotes from Pure Vida regulars, and both have similar patios.
