Panhandling/Scamming stories
The generic panhandlers in Chicago range from benign to quite loathsome, and my god they are literally on every corner in the Loop/much of River North. The gutterpunks are pretty pathetic and a different kind of obnoxious too. The CD kids (generally scam artists and pick pockets), candy kids, and Greenpeace $hitstains are not quite as bad, but they're far more audacious with blocking the sidewalks. Not a fan of the candy kids and their fake charities either. The worst ones, aside from the threatening/stalking types, are those who bring little kids. My god are they despicable.

Ohio & National Intercity Bus Discussion
There was quite the scene by the Cleveland Greyhound Sunday at 11:15pm. Outside the station a coked out, frat boy, Dawg Pound type was pounding on the front of a car, screaming for the driver to come out and fight. 20 minutes later he storms inside the station and goes ballistic. I couldn't tell if he was messing with anyone in particular or just calling us all f-gs. Either way, hell of a charmer. The girl on the intercom summoned security (with a noticeably panicked voice), and at least 3 big guys charged the fool. I couldn't see what happened next since I was boarding, but the station was buzzing. Good stuff. The only downside was the German beerhouse closed at 7 that night even though midnight on Sundays is the norm. I just can't believe that place is across the street! Perfect for my monthly Greyhound pilgrimages.

The Indians could potentially be... "pragmatically" in first place after Sunday's game, presuming we later win the Kansas game that restarts in the 10th or 11th inning. And with a 3 run lead, I think it's a lock. Of course that presumes we sweep Detroit this weekend. And it also presumes Boston plays like Boston (against KC) for once.

Let's just hope Mrs. Rice wasn't by her husband when he got the news. Or anywhere near him tonight or the indefinite future. Meanwhile Ray McDonald, Greg Hardy, and Terrell Suggs are all playing with nary a criticism from that idiot Goodwell.

MLB: General News & Discussion
I wonder if Wainwright gets in any trouble for "grooving" the pitches to Jeter. The game isn't batting practice or exhibition anymore; Wainwright's giving freebies to Jeter could have affected home-field advantage for the World Series. Sure it's a stretch to say Wainwright acted unethically, but it has made for some interesting work conversation.

With this news (plus the RNC announcement) I'm guessing Frank's approval numbers have gone up quite a few points this week.

^It seems relevant to the topic, seeing as how Lebron was clearly making a point with the multiple NE Ohio references.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
There sure were a lot of Northeast Ohio mentions (which the majority of the planet has probably never heard of) rather than Cleveland. Not so subtle there, LJB. But who gives a $hit. It's been quite a week for Northeast Ohio AND Cleveland!

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
And that O'Brien article is just a little worse than last classic here: http://www.cleveland.com/readers/index.ssf/2014/07/the_complex_issue_of_identifyi.html The complex issue of identifying suspects by race: Ted Diadiun Ted clearly has no idea what he's writing about or where he's going with the article, and there's a complete lack of structure and coherence with these ramblings. My god, he's all over the place and never remotely answers the question. The guy was given an impossible assignment, so I don't really blame him completely...but god what an awful piece this was. It should never have been published.
