  1. That was a hell of a description by the PD with one glaring obvious omission. Why even bother describing the bad guy at all if they're too cowardly to mention that one other thing? As though the suspect's shirt is relevant but his race is not? I don't understand America.
  2. Buddy, virtually none of our leaders - political, religious, financial, community - are worthy of an ounce of respect these days. And besides, what's your point? These people are not anything like the many parasites and leeches who already live here; they, these immigrants and refugees, deserve a chance at happiness and to contribute to Cleveland's economy while bettering their families' lives.
  3. A little background: Gatson had been living with her ex-boyfriend until he learned about the affair, and then kicked her out. She had also been very deep into suicidal tendencies and depression, and apparently used that darkness to manipulate the ex. It's also very likely Franklin stole her phone. And Kestner is UTTERLY and COMPLETELY full of $hit. His resignation is a must.
  4. Was there sufficient parking for non-locals?

Dude, that can be any sport. You ever see a kid sitting in the outfield during a baseball game, just chilling? I used to be that kid, and I wasn't the only one. And basketball is really a one or two man sport anyhow; that leaves a lot of bored supporting players out there just jogging back and forth. Your softball comment did make chuckle. Frankly, I have no clue where you came up with that factoid about catchers and right fielders, but hey, you learn something new every day.
  6. It is not easy finding that article on cleveland.com. It is buried in the crime section, not even a hint of it on the front page
  7. The manufacturing and development facilities are on Northfield Rd in Bedford. I don't believe there are any satellite offices
  8. Another 1000+ good jobs gone (by next year) http://www.cleveland.com/healthfit/index.ssf/2013/10/bedford-based_ben_venue_to_shu.html#incart_river_default Bedford-based Ben Venue to shut down operations permanently; 1,100 employees affected Not good :-(
  9. Good riddance. There's too much questionable, if not rough, activity at that parking lot after midnight.
  10. I saw your post as trying score pro-RTA brownie points, which in themselves are a response to some recent bad PR for safety-related delays, by bringing up yesterday's tragedy (and presumably Chicago's lack of safety mechanisms). I didn't care for the comparison when it's looking like this was intentional and not really a mechanical matter. If I misread your point, that's a lapse on my end.
  11. Chicago radio was reporting that yesterday, at least there were/are concerns of it.
  12. I wouldn't make light of a possible terrorist attack for RTA brownie points, Jet.
  13. Aw, a nice little shout out by Tom Hanks today on reddit's AMA (Ask Me Anything): FlyingSioux93: "Tom, thanks for doing this AMA. In your long successful career, which role would you say has impacted you the most on a personal level? permalink" Tom_Hanks_Tom Hanks: "The first job I had in Cleveland with the Great Lakes Theater Festival. Without that first job you are not a professional..."
  14. Expect Vanessa Bayer (Orange 2000) to be the dominant player on SNL this season!
  15. Is game 163, the wildcard runoff, considered the playoffs technically? Or is that regular season?
  16. Hello 90 wins. We've missed you
  17. Second inning and we're up 7-0 already. Awesome.
  18. It doesn't feel like a victory. I've got that knot in my stomach from when they lose. Thanks CP
  19. That better seal the deal for him. Imagine him pitching in the playoffs. Oy. Texas and Tampa win again as well???? Crazy weekend upcoming.
  20. This is a pretty moving article. And the very brief comments about Dr. Sherman (ask anyone in Cleveland's medical community for their opinion of his "character") and the older brother Joshua (whom I've only met a few times and don't have much of an impression either way) do somewhat stand out. http://www.clevelandjewishnews.com/news/local/article_d16f0154-2613-11e3-8a89-0019bb2963f4.html ‘I just couldn’t stop screaming'
  21. Great game today....but yesterday was true magic. Oh yeah, I've got the 1990's chills:
  22. What the F!!!!!!!!
  23. Well......that was a productive post
  24. What you call abandoned, others might call chased out (like my grandparents from Buckeye), especially as they saw what was happening to schools, neighborhood culture and crime levels. Regardless, the show Feagler & Friends was light and never cynical towards Cleveland. His writing was more varied.
  25. http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2013/09/dick_feagler_journalism_legend.html Dick Feagler, journalism legend, retires from WVIZ He was among the best. Old school. Honest. A true journalist (as opposed to the bozos today). Plus Feagler and Friends was a great show, especially when he moderated the discussions rather than one-on-on interviews (my god did they replay that Kucinich episode over and over). And his book "Feagler's Cleveland" is incredible. I read it without blinking at Tommy's earlier this year; I'm sure Mac's Back's books still has a few copies left.
