Cincinnati: West End: City West
My quick sketch of what the West End could become if I-75 was demolished and converted into an urban boulevard. One can dream, no? 8-)

I would if I lived there. I'm in Indy.

Pictures!? I don't think we have seen an actual full photo update of the redevelopment this summer. :-(

Any updates? I'm rather excited about this project!

I agree. If you look closely it seems like the placement was centered on purpose for perhaps future development. I could easily see additional casino development happening after it has been proven a success. I myself am pleased with the casino design and overall am happy wit the use of such a large property.

Relocating to Downtown Cincinnati - Help!
I would consider Parvis to be a great option. I can only imagine the quality of renovation they'll deliver and the area is going to quickly make a transition. Vine is almost completely renovated up to Liberty, won't take much longer and Vine St. will be dramatically safer in that particular area.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Could anyone estimate a deadline date where we are positive that the streetcar WILL be constructed by 2012? Is there a funding date that we are watching out for?

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
Perhaps Cincy will get lucky and get a residential high rise in the next 2-4 years, a modern one on a diet! The thing that I most welcome this tower for is the amount of glass it is placing into the skyline. I think it is very refreshing against all the muted tones currently in the skyline. Of course it could have been taller so it felt less overweight, but I still think it's a beautiful tower.

Looks like the Kroger on Vine is on the list of possible closings due to its under performance. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20100427/BIZ01/4280341

I wonder if they just meant the heavy overhead canopy that says "SHOES" on the one story next door because 2 buildings down in the picture looks fine. I can see it filling with water and debris and getting too heavy to support itself.

I'm all for free speech, but the Enquirer really needs to disable comments. Nothing intelligent is ever said. EVER! :shoot:

It's unfortunate since it sounds like the building is a complete lost... HOWEVER, how can a place like Smitty's afford to stay open with damage to this degree? I'm interested in hearing the cause of this fire. I myself wouldn't mind the pimp wear to move elsewhere and maybe 3CDC can take over the remainder of that block. *crosses fingers that the building can be saved*

With the tiara's facade, I doubt you'll be able to dramatically notice the white.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
I've always thought this as well... Has points that resemble art-deco but is modern by 2010 standards too. I dont care what anyone says, this building is NOT modern. 1980's mod. yes. 2010. no. what it is is an eyesore of catastrophic proportions. Ok, so maybe a bit extreme. but it is ugly. Sigh. Modern or not, it isn't ugly when it sits next to the concrete boxes that currently surround it. Why do we have to label everything modern or not? It's bulky yes, but it's glass structure and the tiara will amazingly freshen up the skyline. The building isn't even completed yet and we are already talking down to it. Would we rather have the skyline remain dull or have a somewhat 'fresh' appearance? I'm happy with it. Of course it could have been better, but it could have also been much much MUCH worse.

Anyone have any idea when we should expect some renderings? The suspense is killing me.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: School for the Creative & Performing Arts
What's the status of this thing? Do we have any recent photos? Also, since it's rather odd that they left the back very empty, I wonder if they plan on using the space for future expansion... or I HOPE. I'm curious how it looks with all the landscaping facing the park.

I'm wondering the same thing. I remember hearing that the block was going to be mostly apartments.

This development is very exciting for the local economy for sure. It could really help out the surrounding neighborhoods, BUT what worries me the most is since the developers/designers are given so much space to work with, it will look like every suburban casino. There will be no unique urban design, no thought of the cities history, and most likely avoiding the street grids. I hope this isn't the case but damn, the lot is huge and I'd rather see them take half of it and the rest go for mixed-use.
