Taipei, Taiwan
I head there 2x a year as the company I work for has an office in New Taipei but don't have the photography skills you do. Beautiful shots though, glad you got the building I thought of as the Death Star crashing into the side by the Shilin night market. Feels very accessible for a city of it's size, this set got me excited for the next trip I have to do in July. :)

Non-Ohio Light Rail / Streetcar News
Here in Charlotte, NC city council approved funding to start the expansion of the Lynx. The expansion will be 11 stations, spanning 15 miles north of the city and ending at the UNC-Charlotte campus. This will be great for students as the school is finishing up a 13 story Uptown building right near the proposed light rail expansion. I heard that city council had approved the funding on the news, however couldn't find a link to the story but here is the story which ran on Monday before the vote. http://www.foxcharlotte.com/news/top-stories/New-Lynx-Extension-Could-Make-Your-Commute-Easier-120581269.html

What effect has the economy had on you?
Sorry it's been a few days since you posted but I don't have an idea about the connection although I noticed the same. There aren't too many foreclosures to look at but one is on Euclid Ave that I will be keeping an eye on. Just down here for a visit? I live over by Southpark mall currently and I'm counting down the days till I will be able to move closer to Uptown.

What effect has the economy had on you?
When the recession started in 2007 I was in college. Graduated in May 2008, found a job by August on Rockside Rd in Independence. Realized I didn't want to make it into a career and quit my job in July 2009 to go to graduate school to get my MBA at the University of Akron. Luckily I received a graduate assistantship so my tuition was paid for. Finished my MBA in 12 months (51 weeks to be exact) then packed up and moved to all Urban Ohio's favorite city... Charlotte! Haha. It can be sprawltastic and I do miss Cleveland sometimes but overall I am happy here. Looking at some foreclosures in the Dilworth area which is a neighborhood right outside of the center city. I'd say that the uncertainty from graduating to finding a new job (twice) was hard but it's worked out real well for me.

Taking a job in Aurora
Welcome! I lived in Twinsburg which is right next to Aurora and my vote would be for Tremont. Its a smaller neighborhood but it has quite a few nice bars/pubs and plenty of people around your age. In relation to other fun neighborhoods it is close to downtown and Lakewood. Not the closest to Coventry or Little Italy but its not too far away. As far as your requirements as they apply to Tremont: Cost: Not sure because the site doesn't list price but I would look at Tremont Place Apartments. Very unique building and we have a thread floating around with details on the buildings redevelopment. Here is a site with their contact info http://www.tremontplacelofts.com/ Commute: Same as downtown. You can take the Jennings down to 480 and only take 480 for about a mile or two before taking 77 to 80. IIRC McMaster is right near the border of Aurora and Streetsboro on Rt 43. Streetsboro would be the city I-80 would take you too and from there it is convenient to get to your job. Proximity: See neighborhoods above Safety: Its city living, common sense will keep you safe. I never lived in Tremont but would visit frequently and never once felt threatened. Nature: Big factor in me suggesting Tremont. The Towpath which headed south leads to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. I haven't followed its developments but I know the plan was for the Towpath to head north to the lake but that may be in the works and not finished yet. Best of luck to you. I just left Cleveland and took a job in Charlotte in August. Some things I miss, some I don't but I think you will find Cleveland to be very enjoyable.

Chicago: Developments and News
Looks great! I am in the process of trying to move to one of those rectangles just outside of the center field/left field area. I've heard parking is a nightmare so the deck is hopefully going to improve that.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I frequently read the site but rarely post. Just wanted to wish everyone in Cincy good luck from an observer in Cleveland!

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
Cleveland State University to begin work this week on dorms in $65 million construction project CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Thousands of students who head to Cleveland State University today for the beginning of the fall semester will see more evidence of a commuter school transforming to a residential campus. Work is scheduled to begin this week on a $65 million project that eventually will include five dorms and a 300-car parking garage at East 24th Street, between Euclid and Prospect avenues. Ambitious CSU officials are hoping the project will be done in two years. More at http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2009/08/_cleveland_state_university_to.html

2022 FIFA World Cup
Wow I hope that this actually happens! I got tickets for the July 2 match in Johannesburg and I'd love to travel (by train might I add) to a midwest city to take in a match or two. Lastly, boo cards I am a huge Celtic fan!!

Cleveland: Cleveland State University News & Info
And he was serious? It was actually a joke. He has been scrutinized in Miami papers for introducing Isiah Thomas as Isiah Thompson just a few weeks ago. The staff i know who were there did not think it was a joke. I doubt that most of the staff know about the other incident or for that matter that FIU even hired Isiah Thomas. From the way it was reported in the PD it sounds to me like he tried to make a joke of the previous slip up and he didn't get the reaction he wanted.

Alliance, Ohio
Just spent four wonderful years in Alliance. I think you captured it very well. There are some nicer homes in the city but around downtown is the rougher part of town. I know the president of Mount is looking to expand so hopefully it will restore some of the city. I agree though that State Street is awful, tons of traffic signals and generic stores. I wish they would redevelop downtown. When you were there was anything done to the building on the north east corner of Arch and Main street? I remember a scaffolding as if something was going in there but left before the finished product.

Twinsburg: Twinsburg Fashion Place
Ugh I live in Twinsburg and this blows! I'd rather see this funding go downtown as someone mentioned. That is a pretty bad location as it relates to housing in the area (projects) and that probably means 82 and 91 are going to need expanded which means more unnecessary construction.
