Mount Healthy, Ohio
The Methodist Church is unforgivably ugly, but the rest of the town looks pretty good. Thanks Ink, you know I always like to see the churches ...

Seems Cincinnati is getting bad review\comments on http://www.city-data.com
I like to check out the citydata forum every once in a while. There is a lot of 17 year old hometown boosterism, but there is an amazing variety of people who post there. And for some reason, Jeffrey does not know how to spell his name over there ...

Cleveland - Where to live for $150,000?
I endured many hours of shopping at Fries and Schuele's with my mom and aunt, for the privilege of lunch at a restaurant on W. 25th St., and a cookie from a stand at West Side Market. I am a third generation Ohio City person, and my biased opinion is look to O.C. !

Natural Disaster Tax?
Sorry if I sounded cranky yesterday, but where I lived in Southern California was in one of the millions of houses in the basinlands, whose residents should not have to pay for the risky behavior of people who choose to live in areas where fire is part of the natural cycle. My major point was no place is totally safe, but some areas are naturally riskier. Have that million dollar view of the Pacific, if you can afford it. But don't require governmental action to collect funds to bail out your stupidity! Great thread, btw

Dayton brain drain
Pushing the comparisons, I would see Rochester<---->Cincinnati Buffalo <---> Cleveland

Springboro to Sprawl
Actually written about Daly City, California, an aging suburb of San Francisco

Natural Disaster Tax?
I seem to remember a tornado doing some pretty nasty damage to Xenia, in 1974. Any government help then, or during the great floods that devastated Dayton? Any federal help in assisting with nasty urban riots in Cleveland in 1968, and more recently in Cincinnati? Let people who live in risky areas pay through higher insurance rates!

Dayton brain drain
As an outsider who finds Dayton oddly attractive, and whose roots are firmly in the regions of both cities (Dad from Scranton PA, Mom from Cleveland, I grew up in Mid Michigan) I give Dayton the advantage in two areas: 1. Syracuse is one of the few places to which Dayton can claim to have the superior climate 2. Dayton is not in a state dominated by one super city Otherwise, Cincydad, I think your assessment is correct.

The Destruction of Warren Street (& a bit of Brown) (D8N)
Erma Bombeck Street? Seems like a suburban stretch would be more appropriate.

Homicide totals
I know you were not dissing per say but Toledo being tied to Detroit is something that we all have to live with no matter how bad Detroit gets. Toledo works very hard to overcome that shadow. However, Toledo may be called Michigan's 2nd largest city because Toledo sits on the border (which I think we should have toll booths all along the line). I think it would make more sense if the Border Battle of Wolverines versus Buckeyes should be played in Toledo every year instead of at A2 or C-bus because Toledo is truely a battleground area in between Ohio and Michigan and it would be fun for all those to travel here for the true football game of the year behind the Super Bowl. You don't see more Buckeyes and Wolverines fan in one area than Toledo's. The true football game of the year behind the Super Bowl? Come on now, have you ever travelled to any other states? I have lived in 12 states besides Michigan and Ohio (born in Ohio, grew up in Michigan), and I've never met anyone outside of the Midwest who gave a flip about the UM/OSU game.

Say Hello to 1835 Cleveland!
Be sure to read the explanation to Merchant's Map here: http://www.csuohio.edu/CUT/ECH_merchant.htm Ohio City is of special interest to me, because it is where my mother's family's American story began. I was also born in Ohio City, at what was then Lutheran Hospital. My aunt was Night Supervisor at LH for years. Thanks for the link.

Cleveland. It stands alone.

The Changing Face of Cleveland: Getting a Lift in Arts Districts
From what I understand, TN is a postal abbreviation only, and is stylistically incorrect in other formats. That's because they follow AP Wire Style. We at the print factories are issued the AP Wire Style guidebook (or simply called "The Style Book") where all our questions to how cities, official titles, products, agencies or anything else are to be presented in a consistent manner. Some things in them don't make sense, but most do. Either way, that's how we must write or it will be changed by editors to conform to style. The fact that Cleveland stands alone in the AP style book is my point exactly.

The Changing Face of Cleveland: Getting a Lift in Arts Districts
Cleveland. Just plain Cleveland. Not Cleveland, Tenn. or Cleveland, Miss. Just Cleveland. Even Time Magazine lets Cleveland stand alone without attaching "Ohio" to it. I was born in Cleveland: I never say "Cleveland, Ohio", and I never say just "Ohio". Cleveland. Oh yeah ...

Where do you live?
I own a home outside Fayetteville, Arkansas in the beautiful Ozarks. I live in a parsonage in the Arkansas River Valley, within breathing distance of I-40.
