Actually DS, I was in fact commenting that you were, and continue to be, incorrect. Not that any of this really maters or is worth all these multiple postings... There are still three more arches to be installed. Two of which are the same height with the other being the center arch. You can clearly see this from either the west or east side of the building. Not to belabor the point, but I think we're both correct. As of now there seems to be: 6 of 8 Major Rings installed. 6 of 9 Minor Rings installed. Each Arch that we are talking about consists of 2 Major Rings with 3 minor rings in between each Arch. Together they constitute one whole section of the tiara itself because the pattern repeats itself; therefore they can be considered a grouping. Also each SECTION seems to protrude just a little signifying a separation between the others, thus the other distinction. There seems to be only three such patterns like these and one smaller arch which begin the tiara which I don't count. But if you really wanted to be technical than it would be four overall main arches made up of 9 smaller arches with spokes spaced out between those. Sorry guys I just had to clear this up, it would bug me all day. LOL

What are you talking about? From what I can see in the webcam, it's only one more level to go. What am I missing? :wtf:  I agree there are three levels in the tiara..two have been put up and we have one more. You knew what we were talking about Cygnus.

Relax, they have one more arch to go which will likely close the gaps as well as the "skirtting" that will go around the base of the tiara. It will be fine haha! When I said nearly complete I meant like greater than 51% (but not 90-100%)

I would say that it is considering that the tiara is nearly complete. Remember that QCS is supposed to be 91' taller than Carew Tower so I'm pretty sure we're at least 60-70' taller by now.

I can take the circle off...it was for illustration purposes only... :|

I've noticed that, too. At certain angles, you can barely see the tiara. Other times it appears more prominent. I don't like that. I'm wondering if maybe what they are doing right now is simply constructing the tiara, and then will later paint it so that it stands out...? Or perhaps there are more "spokes" to install within each arch...? (I'm sorry, I really don't know the technical term when referring to them as "spokes".) Regarding the chillers, I tend to believe they will be concealed once the final middle arch is constructed. If you look at this photo - http://ww1.prweb.com/prfiles/2008/04/16/233391/QueenCitySquare.jpg - there appears to be some skirting around the base of the tiara that has yet to be constructed. Yeah but you don't seem to understand that the chiller is also tall...which means it will peak in the second half of the arches. Which are not covered in the cladding or skirting, or what ever you want to call it. It will be visible, just not by much I presume. Yes, the Tiara will have more "spokes" in it so hopefully you will be able to see it in various angles. You can see that the chiller is clearly visible in the morning when the light is hitting it perfectly, but it sort of fades into the background late in the evening. But it is still visible, and peaks just barely over the cladding.

I think the concrete core will be covered, but I'm unsure how well they'll be able to conceal the Chiller. I've been looking at this for awhile now picturing how they will do it and my best guest is some of that chiller will be exposed. It's too far off center to be completely covered by the cladding. On another note: Man that thing is looking like a beast now lol, it looks tall now with the back half of the second arch completed wooot!!! I do love the curtainwall choice. It's so beautiful in the morning, midday, and evening it all looks different. I have different shots of it throughout the day!

How tall is that crane anyway? 730' ?
-
Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
I believe the curtain wall is like 99% complete. The rest will be installed when they take down the cranes I presume. The second ring of the tiara is also nearly complete with new pieces arriving today.

When you did that 700 footer it looked better. Plus I think an 800 footer behind QCS would look nice as well as another 700-900 footer over in Fountsquare West...what a skyline that would be...can you do one of those Civvik?

I have some pictures from today (Over 200, need to sort through them). Will post them later. I went all over downtown, well not all over but you'll see.- Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
Yeah I was going to post something about that. I see they've got a new shipment of tiara pieces as well. It's about damn time.- Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
I wonder what this forum would look like back in 1930s when CT was being constructed. I can imagine what the conversation would be about. "Oh man that thing sure looks skinny!" Who knew that 81 years later the building's status as Cincy's tallest would be replaced by a fatter building. I know there wasn't internet back then, but I think it would be funny to read posts back from 1930.- Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
They're waiting on the pieces from the manufacturer. It's not like they're not putting it up because they're lazy, there's just nothing to put up! - Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
