Um no, I don't think they work on the weekends.

A flag pole is not part of the architectural design of the building therefore it shouldn't count when talking about the building's total height into the air. This is complete garbage; QCS is taller. No ifs, ands, buts about it! Why would they make the claim if the flagpole even mattered? I wish someone would cut that damn thing down anyway a "six story" flagpole? My goodness, seriously? Maybe I should call Mr. Gyo Obata and ask him to put a six story flagpole on top of QCS, that should alleviate your concerns.

It seems like a mystery but it's actually quite simple. See the crane is initially put together using other tall cranes like those that lift into the air off a truck. Then once it's gets high enough the crane is "self rising" meaning that once the crane attaches itself to the side of the building it's erecting, the tower crew will jack up the crawler crane section at the base or whereever it is to the bottom of the boom. The cage fits on the outisde of the pre-existing crane section-imagine a sock on your foot. They then insert permanent pieces through an opening into the cage, bolt it down to the last piece, then raise the crane for the next peice. In case none of this makes sense watch the video below: I'm sure you can imagine a reversal of this process for the lowering of the crane.

They are finally putting on the facade at the bottom of QCS! So now she won't look like a "fat beauty queen with no socks." LOL

Does that mean it's now taller than the webcam? Or does the flagpole not count? It is almost taller than the sitesight cam, you can't really see the crane in the pic. The curtainwall has got a long way to go, and so does the steel. I'd say they got another month or so before the steel reaches the core's height. That building is no where near Carew Tower's height right now. The Tiara is what will make it "tall".

I believe they are topping off the core now. It should be complete! WOOT!

Any chance you got any more pics of different angles?

That would be awesome! If only it were true! Nothing wrong with a little friendly competition. Maybe WS and Eagle will go back to the drawing board and build another tower where their other garage is just to the east of QCS. Yeah it would be awesome because to me QCS is just a fat office tower with on big crown on it. Why shouldn't Carew tower have one of their own! That would make it what 664ft lol?

What? This is a joke right? Also, looks like the core just hit the 40th level. Next week should be the end of the road for the core!!! from my perspective, I would say the core is at around 37 right now. Are you counting floors or guessing from looking at it? It's definately at the 40th. Because the steel is at the 36th on the north side. Plus on the front they have big numbers to tell you which floor they're on and I counted 40 to the core yesterday.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's a "mooring"?

Has it not passed the Scripps center or PNC Tower yet? The core is at the 39th level right? Or will it only be the tallest when they add that stupid tiara thingy! I really wish the tower was at least 600 feet before they add that thing on it.

Is it me or do they have christmas lights in QSCII?

Clearly it's just a picture. A Nice perspective BTW!!! 8-)

That is a good point. You're right there is a big hill maybe 50-100ft lower.

Is it just me or does Carew tower still look like it will be taller than QCS? I think that tiara adds exaggerated height and not true height to this building. Yes it will reach further in the air but the office floors are much lower and Carew tower will still be King of that dept.

I was hoping it would have a hotel and casino.

That is not the new site I think he meant the new site where the camera is situated. Which it is. The camera has been moved has it not? It's behind the chemed center I think.

Wow are you kidding? Can you take a picture of that? Man this thing is going to be topped out by Christmas...only 4 more core levels and six jumps before the core reaches full height! Wow...I'm glad the webcam is back up. Looks like the garage is almost done.

Well I guess the guys at Mid-Tower cranes are idiots then, because he told me that. Well thanks for that info!

Quick question: If the crane is supposed to be anchored to the building every 80Ft. How in the world are they going to anchor the crane when it's suppose to go up to 750ft in the air? I think the Tiara is 164 ft? So how are they going to do the that?

Awesome Pics, I love that Night picture the best. You can see that QCS is taller than the Scripps center now! So the core should be about 476ft.

wcpo did a story today on QCS, they said the concrete core was at the 36th floor and that it will be completed in January 2011. They had video on the main page but that will likely change so I won't include a link. I don't have a direct link to the story because for some reason it's not posted. Just thought I'd pass the info along!
