Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
Sewer trench has been filled in from 69th to 73rd. Now trench is dug open from 73rd westward to behind BP powerhouse. They pulled out the 3rd set of rails (someone told me what the name for that little accessory track is ... probably in this thread but I forget :drunk: ) . Anyway. That third set of tracks is yanked out. I've got some nice pics but I have to wait until mrs_dergon yanks them off of her camera and sends them to me. :)

The sewer trench out on Father Caruso looks to be almost competely filled back in. It's gone from frozen solid to sloppy mud but they've been it at it pretty hard all through the winter. For the time being I think that's the end of the pile driving ... thank god. http://www.fox19.com/story/24734742/west-side-power-outage Neighbors complaining about frequent power outages they're attributing to the project.

Did anyone attend? I would love to hear the scuttlebutt.

Extending Caruso through would be nice. Curious what the other surrounding neighbors will think about all this added traffic. Should look at putting that Shoreway connection back in the plans at W. 54th, at least for the East bound lane Yeah. They should. As an owner who fronts to Fr. Caruso I'd rather not have a ton of East-West along the street. But I suppose there wouldn't be too much incentive for traffic to come West to enter 73rd and double back to downtown. It's gonna pack up on Herman/Tillman though. I tell you one person who's got to be smiling .... Norm at the Parkview!

This pic taken a few days ago during the "polar vortex". Standing on what was Fr. Caruso at 70th looking S-W. The sewer tunnel is cut to the south here through the old factory property. I found the pic interesting with the unceremonious lopping of the Italian flagged phone pole. Kind of summarizes the changes in the neighborhood.

Trench is being dug out in front of 69th while the pile driving has pushed westward toward 70th.

Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
We had the inspection team come through before they started the project to document what cracks were and weren't there. Then we figure it all out after. As for the noise -- as an anecdote, we sailed our boat to Lorain on thursday. We walked out from the house to EYC and it was very loud. It wa still loud as we pulled away from the dock. It was loud all the way to Pier W. We were almost to Huntington Beach before I could no longer hear it!

The pile driving is as close to my front door as is it is going to get. It's like a mini-earthquake all day long (at least from 8am-4pm). Looking forward to them moving on westward and out of my direct field of view.

Great to see some modern rental come to the nieghborhood. If this project is successful and gets quickly to full occupancy, I wonder if they revisit the apartment portion of the Battery Park project proper. Or is one set of apartments enough. Good news either way. :)

For those of you who haven't seen the construction work moving along for the W 73rd tunnel. Father Caruso is now torn up all the way from 67th to 74th. The old railroad offshoot tracks that used to head towards 73rd are all piled up. 2 weeks down, 2+ years to go :)

That ship has already sailed. To my understanding, Dan Moore was careful to set up Wendy Park so as to be invulnerable to a repeat attack to come for the land.

Two pics taken today. The first looking North at Fr. Caruso at 69th from the South. The second is taken along the railroad tracks looking West from 69th. They've pulled up Father Caruso and built what looks to me like a temporary patch of road North of where the old street was (kind of partly using what would have been the North lan of Fr.Caruso and part of the grassy along the RR tracks).

Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
From the feedback through the grapevine it was a few residents of those yellow houses on the east side of 70th who oppose a road coming in at a "T" opposite their places. I can't see what the big deal is but ..... that's what I hear. It's definately rough there for sure. There's the third track just south of the main two which is about 18" lower. That is occasionally used for maintenence and spraying the weeds along the edge and the occasionally delivery to the warehouses at 78th.

Word around the neighborhood is that the 7202 Fr. Caruso building is officially on the demo list. True? Also apparantly there is now a bit of a disagreement on how Battery Park will connect to get Eastbound out of the neighborhood. Apparantly continuing Fr. Frascati Est to hit W. 70th is the lead option, but the residents on 70th want an elevated bridge on Fr. Caruso to go up and over the tunnel and continue to use Fr. Caruso as the main E/W passage. Any info? And finally ... here's the view this morning. Sewer being trenched out I think.

7am today ... construction begins. (They're cutting out the curb along the northernmost part of W69th at Fr. Caruso.) Interestingly, the orange closure sign leaves blank the number of days. I'm thinking of going out there and painting in an ∞ onto it. :)

I'm not great with the schematics. Does image #6 show a connection of W.73rd to Fr. Caruso East bound? (it looks like it is almost in parallel with the northerly turn of what I presume is the sewer) Or am I misreading that?

Cleveland / Lakewood: The Edge Developments
Received a FB update from whoever runs social media for Papa Nick's Pizza (yes, I "liked" Papa Nicks on FB) Anyway, they claimed certainty that the church was coming down as part of this demolition and that such was openly stated at a recent "stakeholder's meeting". Going to drive by this morning and take a look.
