  1. There is no way the story is this simple. The "everything was just fine and he just locked us out for no reason" story doesn't hold water. I don't claim to know any details, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say it boils down to a couple of rich guys fighting about money.
  2. Nope -- they're gone - just got my 2012 welcome letter from WIM Out with Cropicana, in with the Sunset Grille.
  3. "Overthinking" isn't often something I'm accused of. ;) But OK, you've calmed me ..... for now. :)
  4. the only reason they were there in the first place is becasue Crop was closed while it moved to the W 25th location and they had down time over the summer during the huge bank building renovation. I would think that if they planned 2012 action they'd be saying something more like "Can't wait for 2012!"
  5. Took my first trip of 2012 to Wendy Park this afternoon and got thinking about summer. A dozen+ bikers had ridden down and were playing frizbee in the park. My dock had only minimal winter damage. It got me thinking about summer 2012 ......... so I just looked at Cropicana's website trying to see what's happening. http://www.cropicana.com/ They say thanks for 2011 and direct calls for 2012 to the front desk at Whiskey Island Marina. To me that doesn't sound like they're coming back. I guess I kind of figured it would be a one-off with Cropicana ending with the opening of Crop 2.0. I hope WIM does something good with the space rather than sliding back to the "we have an undersized kitchen that can't keep up with demand so f*ck it" approach that was the old Sunset Grill.
  6. You a funny man. No more than the luxury townhomes just to the east along Father Caruso Drive. In Berea I lived next to same tracks, plus a second busy line that came through, plus SR237, plus Hopkins' south approach to the old north-south runway. After a few days I didn't notice the noise anymore. In fact when I went to house-sit for my parents out in Aurora, I had to turn on a TV with the volume up so I could fall asleep. I've been living roughly 100 feet from the tracks on Father Caruso at 69th for 15 years now. The first night I took the keys to the house it was a gorgeous April evening so I slept with the window open. About an hour later I was hammered out of a sound sleep by the sound of a freight train coming through that sounded, well, ... like a feight train coming through. I closed the window and went to sleep. After that I slept with the windows closed and had no problem. We recently had our North facing windows and doors replaced (they take a lot of weather) and went with triple pane which has cut the noise. Now train noise is only a problem if windows or open or, the most common, if partying on the deck. Oh, and you can't even hear the Shoreway at all. The unobstructed lake, park and marina views by far outweight any down side of noise.
  7. Good for you! Oh... and kind of peri-BP news. Reddstone is closed until March 16 for a remodel. Hopefully it comes back all spruced up (and with better service ;) )
  8. New billboard up on 73rd. Battery Park now pre-selling for Phase III
  9. Slow and steady - Looks like they've paved out the next lot for townhomes on the North side of Fr. Frascati at 73rd.

  12. Well, given that ODOT has pretty much taken an axe to all the funding we have plenty of time (decades) to discuss potential alterations :(
  13. I really hope this comes through. I make numerous trips to North Ontario every year. In the summer this ferry could make the trip a bit more interesting. I wish it was both commercial and tourist though. I think it would be significantly more likely to survive if so.
  14. Looks like they're going with closest to "Plan 3" from the prior meetings. That was , iirc, the "Waterfront Lifestyles" or something. They have a cut-in on the river for kayax/jetski rental as well as a groomed beach. It was Plan 1 that I favored at the meeting but only b/c I didn't know if the whole rental thing would fly.....looks like they're aiming high though :)
  15. That intersection is horrendous. We need some traffic calming measures...quick, someone photoshop some nicer alternative! p.s. one thing that would improve the place is that- in my imagination- Fat Fish Blue is moving into that empty "for lease" storefront at the SE corner. edit: drat - wrong image - I was looking for the schematic from the Shoreway project showing the modifications at W25/28 but can't find it now http://www.dot.state.oh.us/projects/ClevelandUrbanCoreProjects/LakefrontWest/PublicMeetings/Documents/pid77330_2008-12-02%20Subcommittee_FINAL_web.pdf see slide #11-- best I can find from the project drawings
  16. I don't like any of this news. But for me, the "W73rd under the RR with connection to the Shoreway" is the most important piece for development. This is the crucial part for Det-Shor and Gordon Square health and development. Yes I want the lakefront access and the beautification and also would ideally want to see the originally proposed 4 intersection bouleveard, but I guess I'll have wait (perhaps a long long time) for that. :(
  17. Not *exactly* Battery Park but I noticed a nearby townhome at 6915 Fr. Caruso is now up for sale moderately priced. Only down side...you'd have a really bad neighbor.......me. :)
  18. Work crew is today framing out the first story on the newest row of townhmes at 73rd and Fr. Frascati.
  19. Many of the exploders *are* police and fire too. Had one small casing land on the hood of my jeep last night.....a bit of colored dust but no damage.
  20. I was briefly chatting with Dan Moore the other day and he mentioned upcoming plans to put mooring balls in the bay (I think he was referring to the water West of the CG station and North of the volleyball courts, but not positive) to increase transient dockage? Currently there is virtually no availability for transient dockage at the marina. Anyone know any more about? ps -- It would be awesome if they would run a free boat taxi to shore and back that came with the price of the mooring all the Boardwalk Water Taxi in Put-in-Bay. That could really make the place a boating destination as well.
  21. I happened to be down at the marina earlier this afternoon and saw them doing a live radio broadcast. It was kind of a 50% history/info about Whiskey Island session and 50% Barbecue discussion - More positivs press for WIM/Wendy Park http://www.ideastream.org/an/entry/41071
  22. F*ck. :( I find this most displeasing.
  23. We care :) I care, since I'm considering moving there in ~2 years. Me, too! I'm assuming you bought? I'd love to rent there for now to see if I want to make the long-term investment, but didn't think they offered rentals. I don't wanna tell you what to do ...... but I think we've reached critical mass down here. With Det.Shore development around W.65 and BP growing I say .....buy now!
  24. It looks like those white service vans are parked on Fr. Frascati which is the street to be continued eastward to W. 70th. .... so it should be the leftward one opposite the stop sign.
