Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway: Battery Park
If any business people are reading this thread...I would drop a lot of $$ if I could get beer/wine/ lunch meat/decent bread at the Powerhouse. Something the size of the W.9th Constantino's or even half the size would do well there. Attach it to a cafe/small restaurant and I'm a happy camper.

Ate at La Boca a couple nights ago and liked it.....I s'pose it is subjective, but I wouldn't consider that too far to walk at all. Reddstone is a bit far for a single park. The Parkview is our "everyday" place to eat in the neighborhood. Corner bar atmosphere but with food that's better than a corner bar. Plus the bar staff are some of the friendliest folks in town. :) It's been a couple of years since I have been inside Don's, despite driving past it every day. Someone said they had a great Happy Hour with free mussels or something....any truth to that?

Cleveland: Moving to Detroit Shoreway, opinions?
Ksonic99 ---check PMs. But for the public forum, the Casa Belvedere basics are...... We're a 20 unit condominium deveopment set at the corner of W.69th and Father Caruso. We were among the first of the "gentrification" projects in the neighborhood with the first people coming in 1996. (I've been there since '98). Upsides include great Lakefront views, easy access to the park and a very quick commute downtown. The neighborhood is still in transition though. Leave your garage door open and your bicycle is gonna dissappear. But I haven't had any fear of "real" crime in the recent years. I think we finally have critical mass here in the area abutting the railroad to deter any serious criminal element. Edgewater park is a great facility, but there have been a few complaints among neighbors (female) who were accosted/threatened (no serious violence) while jogging in the last couple of years. The 65th tunnel is clean and safe now though and dergon_gf uses it to get to Edgewater marina all the time. Biking into downtown is definately an option .....right down Detroit, over the bridge and onto Superior. We take the scooter all the time. The whole business/bar/restaurant development is a very recent (and welcomed) phenomenon and I am doing my part in supporting the businesses. edit: also please move in then we can try to change the name to something better. I'd prefer "Edgewater Bluffs" or "Lakeview Heights" or something hoity toity like that ;)

I live Casa Belvedere on Fr Caruso. Been here since '98. Tons better now than it was then and I think it is nowhere but up from here! Pm me and I can give you all the info you want and more. All the phases were built by separate builders. My phase (2) seems to have the most trouble, but I still am happy overall. Be sure to have them check plumbing and HVAC ssues. Were you part of a younger couple touring the place with a real estate agent last week? If so, I was the guy you talked to while I was on my deck.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway: Battery Park
Walked through Battery Park the other night. Looks like the trellaced units are inhabited ....someone was having a nice party. The "dog poo coefficient" on the norht strip of land at the railroad tractors is alos dramatically rising, implying increasing occupancy :)

Marous has that factory land just South of Father Caruso between 70&73rd? Cool. Any plans for it?

Cleveland: Whiskey Island Coast Guard Station Redevelopment
Just completed setting up my dockage for year #8 at WIM. Near the top of my wish list for each of those years has been to see some functional restoration of the CG station. Anyone heard anything on this recently? (I'm willing to accept pure rumor and evenconfabulation :) )

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway: Battery Park
fwiw, dergon_gf commented that she really likes the cedar slatting on those units. and ....damn! i can't believe you beat me to posting pix of the lit up smokestack :)
-
Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway: Battery Park
yes ---the smokestack......although I prefer to refer to it as a tower....i expect the next renovation will be to install crenellated battlements atop, perhaps with arrow slits :)

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway: Battery Park
Tower of the powerhouse has big red (to be illuminated in the future) letter spelling out BATTERY PARK now :)

Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
One of my neighbors had said he had seen a set of plans (yeah, I know ---3rd hand info, but it's all I gots ;) ) that showed a slightly easterly rerouted W. 73rd that used a portion of the land currently held as a parking lot by the factory that sits between 70th and 73rd South of Father Caruso. The grading would begin a few hundred feet South of the railroad tracks on this new 73rd and cut down to the Shoreway. Supposedly Father Caruso would then be bisected, being a dead end at 70th and at 73rd (where the current Norht entrance into Battery Park lies). This seems odd though, since a lot of construction effort has already gone into beautifying the North entrance at 73rd and Fr. Caruso.

Cleveland: Where to get a good men's haircut?
Regal Beagle lost their liquor license :( Actually, apparantly they never had a full license and were working off a "tasting license", but got reprimanded by the city.
