  1. I'm in there on occasion. Not sure about how they interface with the neighborhood... except to say that they have very prominent signage welcoming people of all races, creeds, etc ... So for that I give them a thumbs up
  2. Rumors floating around the neighborhood that tenants are close to signing on both the Vida Urbana spot and might already be a done deal to come in to the Graffiti (I'm old enough that I still call it Snickers) spot. (Cha/ YOLO still fallow)
  3. Arcadian Space in Gordon Square Has Been Claimed by Blue Habanero Mexican
  4. Walking in the neighborhood and saw a sign for a new business opening: Stay! Doggie Daycare & Boarding Services Our new website is coming soon! 1265 W 65 Street Cleveland, OH 44102 216-346-7872 With so many dogs in the neighborhood over the last year a dog day care is a great addition. (It's going in to one of the factory spaces just north of the Cleveland Cyclewerks on 65th, north of Herman, south of Breakwater)
  5. More access issues. It sure can be hard to enjoy the waterfront in this city lol. I don't see this changing anytime soon - at least not for events - until there's more north-south points of access, more on-street parking and of course better transit. Not for at least another generation. We had our chance with the full vision of the Shoreway Blvd. project ... what we got instead was a half-measure that doesn't do much at all for the issues you cite. :(
  6. Edgewater live returns just in time for a single-lane West Shoreway
  7. So I was walking around on 73rd this weekend checking out the construction. It looks like they are burying the wires along about a 100 ft stretch of the West side of W 73rd street opposite Gateway Ct. (South of Frascati). I'm guessing that is to allow the new street between 70th and 73rd.
  8. With all of the North-East winds over the last week those of us in Battery Park/ Father Caruso have been getting a nice whiff of the treatment plant lately. (Glad the prevailing winds are westerly :) )
  9. Activity in the Powerhouse building at BP today. Someone in unloading a bunch of cabinets into the old Cha Pizza & Spirits space. Makes me think maybe an office is taking it over?
  10. Vita Urbana was doomed from day 1 The place had the vibe of a morning coffee-shop lobby market in the ground level a Marriott in some resort. The offerings in the min-mart almost seemed like they came out of a randomizer.... like a huge amount of the cooler dedicated to different flavors of sauerkraut but no eggs. I've said it before in this thread.... the places north of Detroit/ in BP (as opposed to the new places up on Detroit) that seem to be either poorly managed, poorly planned, conceptually flawed or all of the above. I can't put a finger on why. As a resident I very much hope for some success in the future.
  11. http://batteryparkcleveland.com/available-townhomes/ Sales billboard for The Lakeside at Battery Park now up. (The parcel between 70th and 73rd at Fr. Caruso) "Starting at $499,000" ..... wow. Makes me glad I got in 100 feet away in 1998 :)
  12. Do you know if the building is structurally sound? I would very much like to see it refurbed as opposed to torn down.
  13. Small little bit of development but ... they're laying stakes for building on the lot on the SW corner of W67th and Fr. Caruso. (a year or two ago the prior old home and garage was demolished. I think the lot was sold to an individual who was going to build a home for personal use)
  14. The places on Detroit tend to be doing it right. I like XYZ. I like Banter. I like Local West for a sandwich. I love Spice and Luxe. Some along the lines of an XYZ redux (but bigger) would be what I would picture working in the Powerhouse.
  15. None of the places North of Detroit have really struck me. They all had/have a niche vibe. Reddstone was hipsters serving their hipster friends. Vita Urbana doesn't know what it wants to be. Terrestrial is craft beer nerds serving their craft beer nerd friends (and will struggle without a quick Cha pie now). Toast service has been consistently awful. Stone Mad OK for a pint but food ... eh. Cha always seemed to struggle on service and 70% of the clientele were friends and family of the servers. Graffiti is the best of the bunch I suppose but it's no Snickers. Someone needs to do something .... different. Cha is a big space. And there is very little fast casual in the neighborhood. Not that anyone wants a Winking Lizard in BP, but all the way from downtown to mid Lakewood there is nothing in the "sports bar" / "i would like 3 bud lights and a dozen hot wings" category. Only down side is that if you go with a place that relies on turning lots of tables is that parking will rapidly become an issue.
  16. Cha is pulling out of the Battery Park Powerhouse building. From their FB page:
  17. Because it is something of great interest I will break my personal prohibition against viewing/posting cellphone video that is shot vertically ;) Here is a link to some fresh video from the finishing touches at the Edgewater beach house
  18. I can't find a rendering. But the image in this little .pdf shows an l-shaped building with the units East-facing onto 75th. http://batteryparkcleveland.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Lakeview-common.pdf
  19. Just took a walk on Edgewater beach. It looks like the new pavilion has its own mini-set of "sunset steps" alla Lakewood park. They look like they arc down to the beach facing westward. Will try to get a pic next time.
  20. Especially with the new tunnel direct connect bridge to the new restaurant/concessions building right at the bottom of W. 76th the combination of park viit + BP business could quickly overwhelm available parking. I'm no expert but I do walk that little bit of the neighborhood every day. Terrestrial doesn't even have signage up yet and it's noticeably more crowded for car parking.
  21. I have a prediction: With Terrestrial Brewing opening, parking is going to reach a crisis level in Battery Park. Even on Tuesday night the combination of the "friends and family" soft open combined with Cha left zero parking spaces available within a couple of blocks. If it takes off at all and becomes a hot spot the local residents are going to get cranky real fast.
  22. Good. I'm not going crazy then. :) _________ Terrestrial Brewing Co. to open Friday in Cleveland's Battery Park: First Look (photos, video) We're thinking of hitting the grand open on Friday the 28th :)
  23. The satellite is obviously a bit old (during the construction of the 73rd underpass and before the Demo of the factory). But you can see the little alley just North of Mobil Martin. That's where the punch through to 70th should be ....imho
  24. Not sure, but hoping so. It would help with overall access to Edgewater Park. Detroit Ave could also use a traffic light at W 73. I thought that I saw a Matt Zone FB post saying that would happen in mid-2018. Can't find it though ... so don't hold me to it 100% Good to know. If we are serious about improving all access to the lakefront we've got to keep making it easier to get to (and from) Edgewater Park...we're not there yet. The trick is to find a way to do it that minimizes the impact on the residents. I'm sure they don't want the neighborhood to be clogged with beach traffic. There's got to be a happy medium. Any ideas Dergon? Well, the punch through from 70th -73rd somewhere north of Detroit has to happen now since Father Caruso got cut off disconnecting BP from the rest of the bluffs. I figure just north of the Mobil Martin EMS building is the easiest spot. (There's a mini-alley there now that I walk through all the time). Personally I would have preferred the full-on Shoreway Blvd. plan with multiple stop lights along the way connecting all the way from 73rd to the bridge... but that ship has sailed. I'm not really an idea guy ... wish I was :)
