Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Margaritaville did look open today for lunch. Just in time for the holiday weekend. We'll see how much this adds to the FEB traffic.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
I'm hearing pile-driving in the area today, but I can't figure out from which direction.

The Superior Avenue route would get a lot of bike traffic and it needs resurfaced badly. I'd love to see how they transition bike traffic from the midway to the side for the Detroit Superior bridge.

Good point. Both of those should bring in people that won't normally venture down there.

I assume you are talking about the blue block in the northeast corner. I haven't seen any activity there or heard of any of the car parkers being told to look for other parking. It was supposed to be part of phase 2, but talk about it has really disappeared.

I image servers crossing in front of me trying to watch the movie. Seems annoying to me.

I am shocked and amazed by both the sign climbers and the fact that I think I see an apartment that appears to be resided in. There is still so much construction, I wouldn't think people would be moving in for at least another month. I've been wrong before, so it's not a shock to me.

Are you moving into the 3rd floor (lowest apartment level)? What direction does your apt face? Toby Keith's, Flip-side, and FWD should be open in two months, but the rest of the ground floor apt building shops still isn't enclosed (at least on the east side), so 2.5 months is a stretch.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
If the 3rd floor is the first floor of the apartments, then they are close to ready from what I see on the east side, but still looks empty.
-
Cleveland: Flats East Bank
I can see half of the apartments from here. None look lived in or close to ready yet. Maybe the one's on the West side of the building are closer to complete. I'd hate to be living with the noise and mess yet, unless the rent was adjusted.

Very similar, except made of what appears to be a hard plastic. What is the purpose? Is it because the roadway is already poured and they are trying to protect it? I think I recall seeing them laying brick there. So it must be to protect the brick during construction. That's the main construction entrance.

Anyone know if they are still serious about Building 11 in the Phase 2 drawings? It's the one north of the EY building that would go in the current parking lot next to the tracks.

FWD and Toby Kieth's are getting closer to complete:

Looks like Toby Keith's Bar is finally under construction too. Bigger image on link below. Hopefully the warmer weather will gets things popping-up faster. https://flic.kr/p/qSH1yL

Final height and overall shape has been achieved. I have updated progression pictures in my album. I have updated my cell phone to the Samsung Note 4, so the detail are better if you look at the full size pictures on the site.

More time lapse-ish pictures of the apartment building construction in the flickr album: https://www.flickr.com/photos/14014567@N08/sets/72157642487692745/ We are reaching roof height now and seeing exterior walls starting to going up. Sorry about the quality of the last month's pictures; the exterior of the window I snap through need cleaned badly. :x

I don't have a problem with shipping containers. What I think is a bad is an open air club competing with all the other sources of noise down there. The lift bridge, a train, or ship horn will drowned out any music unless you really crank it up. Shooters patio is already loud enough to be heard up by the Port building. It's not my money and I'm not buying one of the new apartments in 2015, so I should let it run its course.

Open air night club right next to high-end apartments? There has got to be better uses for that space other than a fair weather weekend bar.

Not sure if there is another thread about that lot or not, but they have been doing "core drilling" in the lot @ W 9th and St. Clair. I'm not sure if that means someone is thinking of building there or not. I just noticed things.

New Road / Commuter Bike (Need help picking one out)
I agree. No Toe clips on my commuter bike. If I clip into a bike that is hard to clip into and out of, I will take more chances and not stop when I should or have trouble starting off when I need to go. If your bike is fitted properly, your toes should naturally fine the right spot on the pedals and you won't push with your arches. I use clips on my road bike, but they are Crank Brothers Egg Beater style designed for mountain bikes. They are easy to get in and out of. If you must clip in, you should try these.

New Road / Commuter Bike (Need help picking one out)
I use an old 90's Bridgestone MB-4 mountain bike that's been converted to a commuter bike with fat city slicks and rack. I've put over 1500 miles commuting on it over the last two summers. It's not light, but it very dependable. The tires/wheels and frame can take rough sides of the street if I don't have room to maneuver. The Cantilever brakes help stop hard. And the Friction Shifters are "infinitely" adjustable.
