Brand doesn't really matter, that's why there is the 802.11 standard. http://compnetworking.about.com/cs/wireless80211/a/aa80211standard.htm As long as your devices are one of the three 802.11b/802.11g/802.11n, then they will talk to the router. If the router is 802.11n and the device is 802.11n, then you'll get the fastest connection. The others will connect too, but only go as fast as there standard allows.
  2. Sometimes unique architecture can make you say, “Wow!.... That’s bad!” A general box building doesn’t seem too bad. There are no risk of creating Dead Rays building. http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/theskyline/2010/10/another-death-ray-glare-building.html I don't think the building looks boring: And unique building usually come with those "engineering challanges" that cost time and money and end up wasting both.
  3. Well, yes, it is a square building, but the roof top access and the 10-11 floor balcony are very unique. Roof top:
  4. Surveillance video of that would be great! It would go straight the World's Dumbest Criminals.
  5. The time lapse is cool. I'm glad they put that together. Here is the link for all you like me who find looking for stuff on facebook a pain in the arse anymore. http://www.facebook.com/#!/FlatsEastBank
  6. Correct. You guys are talking about the elevator shaft right? Yes.
  7. ^ hmmm... no. 3 or 4 more. And only 4 if you count the penthouse as a floor. The notch on the northwest corner is between floors 10 and 11. The 3 garage floors are below ground level on the southeast side.
  8. Good shot of them getting ready to jump the crane up right now on the webcam: http://www.flatseast.com/webcam.htm Looks like they'll do it today.

Maybe the Eastbound side could be left up for a few more years to allow pedistrian and bicycle traffic to get from Tremont to downtown.
  10. The center concrete seems to have stalled out a floor 16. Do they ned to "jump the crain" up to continue to pour or are they waiting for something else? The iron work is catching up fast.
  11. Red Solo Cup is an instant classic!! WARNING! : This song will get stuck in your head. For better or worse!

Looking at google maps... Duluth has it's lake front in that area setup for tourism. The barrier island has sandy beaches / grassy parks and a long walking/biking trail. All the freight loading happens to the west of it and doesn't interfere with your view and use of the lake. It's also the most western point of the great lakes, so you could sail from the Atlantic to there. The lift bridge is in the tourist area and people can drive/bike/walk across it. Cleveland's only lift bridge near the lake front is a train bridge, so no user interaction with it. Wendy park is near the bridge, but the park is damn near hidden from anyone that doesn't know how to get there. Most of the other lift bridges in Cleveland no longer function. The only ones that I can think of that still operate and are puplic accessible are the Carter and Columbus street bridges. Both of these bridges are back in the industrial areas of the flats and not easy to find either. Duluth is surrounded by huge national forests. People may come from all around to tour the forests and see the animals. After a week of that, you look for the big city around and head into town to get back to civilization. When you get there you may go out to eat and ask, “What else is there to do here?” Your server may tell you, “Lots of people go and watch the lift bridge…”
  14. ^^^ The parking garage appears to be entered and exited from the north side, so it wouldn't show up in that shot. There may be auto entrance near the Northwest corner for the Hotel too, which would be obscured by the tree in that drawing. Hopefully all the truck deliveries will be on the north side and away from the pedestrian areas.
  15. ^ Accroding to this shot, the hotel appears to just peak over the bridge. Looks like it's visible, but just. The hotel appears to go up to level 5 in the office:
  16. How often will the windows in the new building be covered in dust kicked up from industrial traffic inside the loop? Maybe it will won't rise very far and just settle on the lower levels and all the outside dinning areas + parked cars. Stock in Windex might be a good investment...
  17. We use Rocky River Animal Hospital for both are dogs and cats. 2573 Wooster Road Cleveland, OH 44116-2914 (440) 331-7711 ‎
  18. Nothing new in this video, but it does show some more steel around the building's base and the crane moving. :-o Channel 3 : On Location: Flats East Bank http://www.wkyc.com/news/story.aspx?storyid=203456 It's something...
  19. ok, but is the crane helping to move anything on the ground yet?
  20. Agreed. Any pathway along the river will not lead to anything to the north and might just stop dead at the tracks. I don't know what will be to the south for now. People will need to walk it just to say they did. There isn't any real transportation use as it stands. May it will see a lot of joggers.

Agreed. How can you not have the second bridge already planned out with the first? Probably Gov't waste at it's best. Maybe the second bridge can get a pedestrian access added now.

KJP: Understood. It make me sad to think that our world has got to the point were simple things can't be done since everyone is only looking at what's in it for me.

I understand, but don't think RR tracks need have a bridge over them. A level gated pedestrian crossing should be less expensive than I bridge. I would even argue that it doesn't even need to be gated. I grew up in the country where most RR crossings are simply marked and people cross at there own risk. (Cleans the gene pool faster) I'm sure there are lots of reasons why it can't be done, but I thought a ped-xing bridge attached to the side of the existing RR bridge would be the most cost effective way to get it done. Then you could cross the river from east to west on the south side of the RR bridge and either cross the RR tracks at level to go north to Wendy Park or just head south to Flats West Bank. Boreas - Thanks, I've been a member for nearly two year, I just haven't had much to say.

^ Yes, but it's still a 2 mile walk to cross a 500 ft wide river. I'm just saying that east-west is route I'd use.
  25. Like what I see there! I got excited about the Whiskey Island bridge, until I saw that it runs north-south, not east-west. No way for peds to walk from Flats East Bank to the island without traveling 1/2 mile farther than it takes by car! d'oh!
