  1. Just noticed on a job board that RTA is advertising to hire an application analyst, a senior application analyst, and a Senior Programming Analyst. Maybe they plan to revise some of their passenger-facing systems. https://www.indeed.com/viewjob?jk=88a7d303075bd493
  2. I was at the Rock Hall today, and the sign appears to be very popular. People (including some gray-haired couples) were climbing up on top of the letters for photos, peering through, etc. It was a brisk (40's) but sunny day and a lot of people were lingering outside.
  3. I wouldn't be surprised that the delay involves some re-configuration behind the scenes, where their bag room and ticket counters are in relation to their gates
  4. Wired Magazine - Commuter Gondolas Are Coming to America. Probably. Maybe? ".....No wonder designers who have proposed gondolas as an urban transit solution have met a mix of fanged skepticism and derision. “I have definitely heard from some citizens that the very notion of a gondola is too ridiculous to even be considered,” Christopher Slatt, the chairman of the Arlington County, Virginia’s Transportation Commission, told the Wall Street Journal this summer. “Why give transit critics ammunition by advancing something that may turn out to be a waste of time and effort?” https://www.wired.com/2016/09/commuter-gondolas-coming-america-probably-maybe/
  5. Furniture and/or fixtures were being delivered to the new Starbucks yesterday.
  6. Yes, the Denver media market is very close in size to the Cleveland media market
  7. OK, I'm not the only geezer who remembers it as the Olive Tree. Hell, I remember it as the Olive Tree. My brother and his wife played there numerous times and he hosted a couple slam poetry events there.

We were in Tremont about a week ago, and parked in the new lot to get a picture of the Cleveland sign. You can see the new access road, and retaining terraces, taking shape alongside Abbey Rd. It looks like it will be very nice.
  9. This didn't make the news at all as far as I can tell. Neither did a pretty massive fire I drove by in Euclid last night about the same time. Sleeping media? TV stations usually love fires
  10. You can also see RTA police giving tickets to cars for being in the bus lanes on Clifton during rush hour.
  11. Or at least at the moment it is not good for walkable retail. If (a big if) more of the empty lots are filled in, and the old five to six story buildings from E 21 to the Shoreway, are converted and filled in, then there may be enough pedestrian traffic. But right now, most of the pedestrians are either headed to the Virgil Brown building, or the transitional housing across the street, or the Subway on the other side of the fire station. Otherwise, that tends to be a lonely stretch of road.

I've switched over to 1&1 also. It integrates well with WordPress, which means it is very easy to put together a responsive website.
  13. The city manages the airport, but has nothing to do with baggage handling. Each airline either has their own baggage handlers (who are called ramp service) or they contract with an independent ground services company that handles the airlines who only have a handful of flights at a given airport. Or one airline may hire another to handle their ground services. Check the uniforms of the crews to see who they are working for. I put myself through undergrad school working as a ramp man (many years ago).
  14. All the bus stops along Clifton for the 55 had at least 20 people waiting, and the buses looked already full
  15. How do you even get a two day old TV feed?
  16. The Wade lagoon is almost untouched from what it is now - maybe an extra sidewalk. The only real changes are going to be west of there.
  17. Just saw a TV commercial where they said they lost their lease in Mentor (although I should use all caps to match the style of the commercial)
  18. It would appear to be about 27 grade crossings in Lakewood, counting W 117. (including my street). There was a plan, that didn't come to pass, that would have dead-ended a number of streets to reduce this count. During the 30 years that I lived in Lakewood, they tore out the second track on the NS line, going down to a single track. So there is definitely room for two tracks. The number of freight trains is down drastically compared to the 1980's or early 1990's.
  19. When I see that strip I think of the Seinfeld episode with the Kenny Rogers chicken sign outside Kramer's window.
  20. When I read about the incident, my first thought was "Wonder which councilperson he/she is related to?"
  21. Wasn't Medical Mutual originally supposed to be the tenant in One Cleveland Center (the building that looks like a chisel)? And the outcry over the cost made them back down?
  22. It is a short walk from the ticketing lobby to the end of A or B concourses. It is a very long walk to the beginning of the D concourse - especially from the ticket desks at the north end of the terminal.
  23. BTW, even though there are signs that say "35 MPH" since they've taken down the barrels I'd say the average speed is back to 50. From personal experience, if you try going 40 you'll get passed by everyone, as well as receive a few rude gestures. So absent an enforcement crackdown, the option of keeping it 35 across the bridge may not work.
  24. I wonder if the researcher first tried out this methodology on his/her city, or on a city he/she knew. That way, if there are some anomalies, they would be readily apparent and they could go fiddle with their algorithms or rules. BTW, while not in Fairview Park, Fairview General Hospital is very close and is probably the source of the "high-paying" jobs.
  25. Before construction, I would say the average speed on the Shoreway was 60 mph
