  1. I'm stuck in the traffic too. However, things get better once you get on the Shoreway. I think the problem right now is that the Lake Road entrance ramp is closed, so all the cars on Lake and West Blvd have to funnel onto Clifton, and it is not clearing by the time the light changes. That causes the Clifton traffic to back up. Now that they have changed the project and are not installing intersections and traffic lights on the Shoreway, once construction is over the impact of the project is to probably only going to add about 5 minutes to my commute (due to 35 mph speed). Won't know for sure until it is over.

  4. I worked there in the early 80's and it was the Union Commerce Building then. Union Commerce Bank was later bought by Huntington Bank.
  5. Well, there were at least two guys there wearing suits and ties, because I was the other one. Never realized that Blossom Music Center was the Gateway Arch tilted to the side.
  6. We took the Rapid to the Feast on Saturday, and the new station was jammed when we got off around 4:00 pm. The platform waiting for a westbound train was jammed, and there was a long line of people at the machine buying tickets.
  7. The Presidential Apartments in Rocky River hold similar events for residents - coffee and doughnuts, pizza lunches, outings on their own shuttle bus. The clientele there is mostly, but not all, seniors.
  8. With a building this size, would they be able to do it bit by bit? Fill up the top 5 floors or so with apartments, floors 2-5 with some Class B office space, and then start working on the middle?

There have been times where I had to take the Metro from my home in DC to Union Station to catch the Marc to get to the BWI rail station then take the shuttle to the BWI terminal, go through security, board the plane, fly to Hopkins, wait for my bag, then take the Rapid back downtown....and all in all it took longer than the six hours it would have taken to drive. I don't know if it is still the case, but I know a few years ago the MARC didn't run on Sunday. I ended up having to take a bus from BWI to the Greenbelt station. I think that's when I started doing more driving.
  12. On the CLE-DC fly versus drive, it also depends on the airport. If for budget reasons you have to fly in to BWI, then I prefer to drive the whole way, especially if I have to rent a car at BWI.

  15. Also, I think that the people who ran the restaurant were just renting the space, and somebody else owned the building.

  17. From the Shoreway east or west I don't this has any impact, nor from out on the lake or the shot everyone uses down by the Center Street swing bridge. About the only places this would have an overwhelming impact on the skyline would be coming up 77 or from Progressive Field.

  19. Yes, but if it happened in the days before social media, it would have been known only to a handful of people that the guy personally saw that day.

  24. Considering the horrendous shape of the road on the Cleveland side before construction, this morning's trip downtown was the smoothest in well over a year. Would have been even better if the red light at Clifton and Baltic hadn't been out, causing a big backup.
