  1. Cross-posting this on a few threads Cleveland Connects is hosting a panel discussion on transportation issues on Monday, Nov 24. It's free but you need to register http://www.ideastream.org/clevelandconnects/getting-around In this installment of Cleveland Connects, we examine Northeast Ohio’s transportation infrastructure and how it should be shaped to create more livable communities and to promote more sustainable economic growth. Cars will always be part of the mix, and the planned Opportunity Corridor should improve cross-town traffic patterns, but young people today also want to ride their bikes to work or rely more on public transportation. What is the right mix of transportation options? Should the Rapid be expanded? Is it simply a matter of building more bike lanes? Coming up with the right answers will be critical to the region’s ability to grow and prosper and to capitalize on national attention during the 2016 Republican National Convention.

I've had some good experiences at Bruce's on Detroit at Bunts in Lakewood
  3. Sounds like the approximate location of that since-closed restaurant that used to serve things like deep-fried Twinkees or deep-fryed PBJs

  5. Yes, on the Lakewood portion three new traffic signs have gone up on every block. I imagine when the construction is done they will be going up on the Cleveland portion: the buses only in curb lane sign the sign that says cars can now get in the right hand lane to turn and a Right turn only except buses sign These are often fairly short blocks, too, which adds to the clutter
  6. Collection has dealerships on Brookpark Road in Brook Park - that is the strip joint reference.
  7. My theory is that drivers are already merging right to avoid the closed lane that is coming up in about two blocks
  8. After all, this is the campus with the "Phallic Fountain"
  9. Maybe it depends on what part of the name you are looking at. It appears that most of the people here looked at the name, and focused on "Street" and immediately thought of "Bourbon Street". The word I focused on was "Bourbon" and immediately thought of "Yes, please"
  10. He's not wasting time - he's squeezing some advertising revenue out of a temporary banner hung in a high-visibility location that is going to be seen during the big party held in that surface lot in conjunction with the Cavs opener.

It looks like Esri has entered the Psychographics field - Nielsen has similar categories for Zip Codes called PRIZM (one of them is "Guns & Pickups" and another is "Young Digerati") and Axciom has something similar called Personix codes.
  13. I've assumed that west of Lakewood it just stays on what was the #55 route. But I never ride it west, only the Lakewood-to-Downtown portion.

  21. They've started on the bus shelters - and the ones on the far western part of Clifton are taking shape. The design includes peaked roofs and brickwork. I was driving so I didn't have the chance to snap a picture.
  22. I had never heard of the book or author, but a co-worker described it to me as "Twilight, but with Cancer"

  24. When I first started working downtown in the early 80's, I believe there was a Burrows (Borroughs?) store in the corner space in that building. Of course, that chain (and even that type of store) is long gone.
