Cleveland Density
Why is that? Cleveland has like 77 square miles of land, Cuyahoga County has 458 square miles of land. Thats almost 6 times bigger not a little less than 4 I was going from the numbers in the circle - assuming those are the proportions being graphed.

Cleveland Density
Is that first graphic supposed to be drawn to scale? If so, then there's a math error. The area of the Cuyahoga circle should be a little less than four times the area of the Cleveland circle.

Cuyahoga County Executive
I voted for Lanci - but debated internally between him and Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald goes to my church, so there's a certain tribal instinct there, and I like what he's done in Lakewood. But his party has been robbing the county blind for years, so I ended up going with the outsider, someone who's built up businesses. If Dolan won, you just know we would lose our best bureaucrats to all the other counties....

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
I believe a lot of the clean-up of those NYC parks started when a certain no-nonsense, law-and-order mayor took office there.

Cleveland to Canada Ferry
Just as a point of reference for driving, in general I can leave Cleveland at 6:00 am, and be in Toronto around 11:30 am. Figure 45 minutes less for Hamilton, another 45 minutes less than that for Buffalo. (with normally only one pit stop) Sometimes there's a long wait at customs, but that may be true no matter where you cross the border.

Where to live in Clevland, Single, 30 something Male, no kids. Looking for nice
E 4th is also one block from the (LeBron-less) Q, and two blocks from Progressive Field, if you happen to be a sports fan.

555ctsv - Reverse commuting to Mentor might not be too bad along the East Shoreway (I-90), but I don't have direct experience with that. It is on the snowy side of town, but Mentor won't have quite as much snow as areas inland about 5 or 10 miles (which is called the "Snow Belt") Euclid is a suburb in transition from blue-collar ethnic Catholic to African-American. It isn't the most happening part of town. If you look around University Circle, you will probably be only adding five or ten minutes to your commute each way (you can still get up to the Shoreway quickly), but there's a lot more young people and things to do.

Thinking about moving to Cleveland
It sort of depends on how much of a "pioneer" you want to be - are you looking to buy a fixer-up in an emerging neighborhood, something established, a condo, etc ?

moving to cleveland, family man , wife, and kid.
Just hit my 25th anniversary as a Lakewoodite. In general, going west and going north gets you better neighborhoods. Extreme northwest is Clifton Park, that and the streets that border the lake north of Clifton will have the most expensive homes. Birdtown is in the extreme southeast, and that will have the least expensive homes, and probably the most crime. But there is a certain randomness to the north-south streets - you will have one street with larger homes and larger yards, and the next street west will be mostly cottages, and the one west of that will be doubles that are mostly rentals. Instead of neighborhoods, groups tend to coalesce around their residential north-south street, with the block parties and other activities. So one will say that they live on Grace, or Elbur, or Manor Park, or Lakeland or Arthur, rather than a neighborhood.

Suggestions for a night out in Cleveland's Little Italy?
Where ever you end up eating in Little Italy, you may want to skip the dessert/coffee there so that you have room for an additional stop at Presti's - (or Corbo's.)

OK, here are the numbers for New York. The newest survey I have for New York is 2008, so you can probably knock the numbers down by 1 or 2 percent each, for the effect of the recession. But for the New York DMA (which is five times the size of the Cleveland DMA) Flown once in past 12 months: 14% More than once: 30% Did not fly: 56% and I've summed up the "more than once" out of several categories. The percent who flew 10 or more times was actually 2.9%. This was the Scarborough 2008 Release 1 - a survey of 12,761 respondents in the New York DMA. This survey's methodology is accredited by the Media Ratings Council - a consortium of media companies, advertising agencies, and consumer packaged goods companies. One other thing - all these measurements are for the 18+ population - they don't cover kids.

OK, from the Scarborough USA survey (which is about a half year older than the local Cleveland survey, so it may not have the full effects of the recession) 15% flew once 24% more than once 61% didn't fly Scarborough USA covers the whole country, and has 221,356 survey respondents. The Cleveland survey has a little over 2200 respondents. The Cleveland survey has a margin of error of between 2 and 3%. And to answer another question - the DMA is the 17 county TV market - NE Ohio except for Trumbull and Mahoning Counties.

Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
The corner sidewalk work stretches quite a way west on the Cleveland portion of Clifton Blvd. I'd guess I saw at least six different intersections waiting for the concrete trucks or being worked on this morning.
