  1. ^The building with the little tower was the Channel 8 studios, before they moved out to the Shoreway

No, that's from the Nick Mileti era - those were the original Cavs uniforms
  3. They (RTA) won't have to do as much work this way.
  4. The boat launch ramp (and parking for the trailers) is a major access point to the lake for people who can't afford a yacht club/marina membership. And is there going to be demand to build right next to the sewage treatment plant?
  5. The Dude's voice : Well, that's like your, uhh, opinion, man...."
  6. AB screwed up Rolling Rock after they bought it
  7. Some 767's have the range to fly the route ; all 777 and 787's have the range. Whether there would be enough passengers paying a high enough fare to make it profitable is another question.
  8. The Spitzer site is much closer to Lakewood's downtown. There is a high-rise (The Westerly) about three blocks away from the Spitzer site.
  9. I live 3 blocks from the lake. There is a big difference between Cleveland and Toronto - in Toronto the prevailing winds are not off the lake.
  10. This is probably county-based, so a move from Solon to Twinsburg counts as a Cleveland to Akron move
  11. A chance for a "corner" unit with some more windows?

One major exogenous factor that caused Toronto's growth spurt was the threat of Quebec separatism - it caused the migration of many corporate HQs from Montreal to Toronto.

A podcast: Urbanist and author Alain Bertaud of NYU talks about his book Order without Design with EconTalk host Russ Roberts. Bertaud explores the role of zoning and planning alongside the emergent factors that affect the growth of cities. He emphasizes the importance of cities as places for people to work and looks at how preferences and choices shape cities. Bertaud also reflects upon the differing perspectives of urban planners and economists. http://www.econtalk.org/alain-bertaud-on-cities-planning-and-order-without-design/
  14. Is there any kind of lead paint legislation pending in the City of Cleveland?
  15. You expected unbiased journalism?
  16. I live half a mile from the lake - we probably have a week or two before the heavy onslaught. They don't bite - so just keep your mouth closed. If they get in the house they don't go far
  17. We boated to Cedar Point once and stayed at the marina (late 70's- early 80's?). There was a mild breeze from the north that wafted a considerable marijuana odor over all the boats.

If we can't bitch about something that we know only superficially, then what's the point of UrbanOhio?
  19. Well, if you walk past someone taking pictures of a building under construction, chances are they hang out here.
  20. I used to refer to that as the "Junk Food Store", since my regular purchase there was a six pack and a bag of chips
  21. At least three of the galleries in Little Italy now were little grocery stores when I moved there in 1979, and another was a hardware store. The laundromat is still going strong, however.
  22. They use the airport for that, too
  23. Is this the same developer who was also bad-mouthing Dick Pace (in another thread)? Did he say anything nice about any of his other competitors?
  24. I forget the name, but it is a data center
