Cincinnati: University of Cincinnati: Development and News
bigredmachine replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionAnyone know what the construction is along calhoun between the old ymca and clifton ave? I can never get a good look when I drive by. Anything is better than that deadly "sidewalk" that went down the side of that hill. I felt like a camel going down into the grand canyon every time I walked on it.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
Speaking of this, the WLWT tower looked AWESOME today peeking in and out of the clouds from my clifton heights street. If only it wouldn't give my stereo so much interference hiss...

Also true if heroin was legal...

Cincinnati: Downtown: 21c Hotel (Metropole Building Redevlopment)
How would any neighborhood or street ever improve without some change? At what point would this building's conditions have to creep to in order for the naysayers to agree that something finally has to be done? There is no reason why any humans in a modern American city should have to live in a building like this that Sherman has described. 3CDC is being more that fair in how they are handling this, and there are many places for these people to go that will be a win-win for them. my only question is where are these pimps, prostitutes, and drug dealers going to spread out to after they move out? At least they were all concentrated in this building before.

I saw a headline today that said the casino owner is planning to speak at broadway commons today, but didn't have a chance to read the article..any word on that?

This new hotel looks AWESOME, but a contemporary art gallery right next to the contemporary art museum..a little redundant?

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
Hughes is looking great..I would have to say that the most improvement happened when they cleaned up all of the yellow molding and trim around the building

Cincinnati: University of Cincinnati: Development and News
bigredmachine replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionIve noticed this week that the streets and sidewalks on the east side of the baseball stadium and south of sander hall, and around the arena on the other side of sander have been marked with spray paint. They have marked water lines but Im not sure what the other markings are for. Could this be a part of the planning for the new Jefferson sports complex or for something else?

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
Saw today that a light pole was put up and hooked to the power line that runs along the street.. on corner of ohio/calhoun where urban outfitters is. The UPA side still has a board over the hole they dug a couple weeks ago.

Greater Cincinnati Metro (SORTA) and TANK News & Discussion
I saw an articulated metro bus that looked brand new last weekend when i was going south on reading to get on 75 south downtown. The sign said training or something like that on it. It looked very sharp..I didn't know metro had any articulated buses

Cincinnati: University of Cincinnati: Development and News
bigredmachine replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI've always wondered what was inside Wilson..I had no idea it was in that kind of shape and not being used at all. It looks awesome from the outside and from those pics it looks like it could be beautiful if it was in good condition. I would love to UC renovate it like they did with the Teacher's college building, which looks amazing now...of course it all comes down to what the university needs and the money it has. Dorm space is an obvious need with the increasing number of freshman each year. This year they had to place new freshman in the one fraternity that is left in Stratford because there was so little room. I feel like UC is close to hitting it's breaking point in terms of how many people/classes it can house on campus every day plus the amount of students living on campus.

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
My bad i only saw the post after yours..i was hoping highlanders wouldn't become their standard patrol car. Still don't know if i like the logo though

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
It is exciting to see pictures of what kind of vehicles would be used in cincinnati...they would definitely give cincinnati that "big city" feel for sure.
-
Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
So are these new highlanders just for special purpose or are they the new patrol vehicle choice of the CPD?
-
Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
This may not be the correct thread, or may have been discussed but what is the deal with the new toyota highlanders that the cincinnati police have been using? Im suspecting they are just their new standard police vehicles since ford is no longer making the crown victoria. Im not sure I enjoy the new logos however..

University of Cincinnati Shuttle System
I was wondering if there was ever any developments on the UC shuttle system..From what I can see it seems to be very popular and could use expansion. I could see the system expanding routes to outlying campus areas such as gaslight clifton neighborhoods and further south on the edge of fairview. It also seems possible to use larger buses, as many of the times ive taken it the driver has to not let some people on later stops on the route due to the bus being full. I recognize the problems with this such as the narrow streets of fairview that are frustrating enough to maneuver in a car, and money of course. I also doubt croswell operates transit style buses bigger than the airport shuttle types they are using now. Just wondering if there was anything on the horizon, especially since UC and the campus area are growing so rapidly.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Getting back to the UC student discussion..I am a UC student living in Fairview just south of campus and although a streetcar wouldn't necessarily benefit me on a day to day basis it would be amazing to use it to ride downtown to hit reds games, findlay market, and all the new things popping up in OTR, especially the bars. I also know people that co-op downtown that live in the area and take the bus every day. As for the UC shuttle..it is free for students and very convenient if you catch it at a non-peak time (a couple loops before everyone is heading to the next hourly class starting time). The shuttles are usually full and getting on one is hit or miss depending on when you want to catch it. I may just start a thread about the UC shuttle system...

Cincinnati: West End: The Gateway Park District (Union Terminal)
I totally agree about spoiling the view. My deck has an amazing view of downtown and union terminal..i would hate to see it blocked even though I am totally in favor of some development in that area of town.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I want to write barack and tell him how much an average cincinnatian would appreciate a streetcar. I was at Krause's deli at findlay market today and they had a picture of the portland streetcar sitting on one of their shelves. Got me pumped to say the least.
