Cincinnati: Historic Photos
Truly sad. Every older American city has wiped out a significant portion of their urban fabric in the automobile age. There's no doubt that most of these historic dense districts would be the most prized neighborhoods today if they hadn't been leveled in the name of "progress." St. Louis' Mill Creek Valley suffered the same exact fate. You don't know what you got till it's gone.

JivecityCLE - my trip to the Forest City
Detroit also has plenty of historic high-rises, scattered around New Center, Midtown and along Jefferson Ave. I saw about two in the University Circle area, to be fair.

JivecityCLE - my trip to the Forest City
Wow, are any of those buildings in Hough still standing? Such a sad, sad loss! I echo all of Jivecity's comments. I absolutely love Cleveland and its people.

That's the Grand Avenue water tower. Of the 7 remaining historic water towers in the U.S., St. Louis has 3 of them.

Dallas-Fort Worth & St. Louis, 2008
It's a new tacky cheap watered down payless shoe store version of University Circle. You are an idiot. First of all, nothing about the Central West End is "new"... Secondly, there is nothing cheap or watered down about it. The vast majority of businesses are independently or locally-owned. The Central West End was a mature urban neighborhood when University Circle was a pasture. I advise you to visit before claiming to know what you're talking about.
