Cleveland: Food Trucks/Carts News & Discussion
Speaking of food trucks... Jibaro food truck owners to run restaurant on Middle Bass Island Published: Monday, June 25, 2012, 12:54 PM Updated: Monday, June 25, 2012, 1:53 PM Debbi Snook, The Plain Dealer By Debbi Snook, The Plain Dealer Good news for fans of Middle Bass Island: St. Hazard's resort will be kicking up its heels this summer to a Latin beat. The dire legal and financial binds that threatened to shutter the restaurant and swimming pool complex this summer have been loosened enough for a seasonal tenant, Jibaro World Eats, operator of one of Cleveland's popular food trucks.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
So I have been playing around with RTA's NextConnect site and overall it is really nice. However, the UI on it seems to be more geared to a full web browser rather than a mobile browser. I'm not sure if it is another companies site that is being overlayed with RTA's info, but it is harder to navigate than RTA's mobile site. Also, right now the map for the red line shows only 4 trains. That can't be right for afternoon rush hour traffic can it?

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
While I love the Chipotle rumor, I am not so sure there is much activity going on in this space. For one, the lock holding the "door" (which is just another piece of plywood) doesn't move. I walk by this every day on the way to work and it is on the same spot on the chain, facing the same way. Either construction guys are coming and going through another entrance (which didn't happen with Zoup so doubt it would now) or there is not any buildout happening. I posit that the plywood was erected because a couple of "street guys", namely the guy that carves walking sticks, would hangout there. I think because MRN had control of the space they did what they could to make it more unappealing to them.

Hi, I'm wireless
I have that exact router and don't have any problems. I would guess that you got a dud, unfortunately.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
They have a couple of Lizardville locations already, however this place is described as being heavier into the beer than their other spots. Which are more Whiskey focused I believe.

Cuyahoga County Executive and Council
A dumb idea IMO. The majority of the funds should be used within downtown; Small Business loans, infrastructure improvements, etc. But when a politician sees dollar signs I guess all bets are off. Cuyahoga County Councilwoman wants half of casino taxes devoted to suburbs Published: Tuesday, June 12, 2012, 7:00 PM Updated: Wednesday, June 13, 2012, 2:38 AM By Laura Johnston, The Plain Dealer CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cuyahoga Council Councilwoman Sunny Simon differs with Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald on how to spend the county's share of casino taxes: She wants to share half the with the suburbs. Her proposal, submitted Tuesday to the Cuyahoga County council, opposes what FitzGerald has pushed since February, which is to use all the money for downtown development. The suburbs have been hit the hardest by state cuts, so council must help them retain residents, Simon said before Tuesday's meeting.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
And I would imagine that if the square were to be become a Square-a-bout permanently then drivers would adjust their trip times as well. I do think that this would have to lead to a lane reduction on Ontario south to Prospect and north to St. Clair. Which would not be a bad idea at all.

Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
I think that is more there for when there are crowds, lines, etc. In those cases I would imagine it will become diamond and above. But if there is no lines elsewhere a casino would be incredibly stupid to deny someone access.

Cleveland: Downtown: Jack Cleveland Casino - Phase 2
My personal dream wish is for there to be a marina off the river that connects to the parking garage and therefore the casino. I have no idea how this would be accomplished (covered boat docking?? with the parking garage above??).

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
Makes me wonder, so far the city is doing fine with Superior and Ontario being closed off in Public Square for marine week. Hopefully someone is paying attention, as it is the perfect study to prove we dont need those damn streets running through public square and we can finally just make one large square! :D Absolutely And I have to imagine it would be even better if most of the buses could be diverted to the West Side Transit Center. I think that really have the ability to close those streets for good.

Hi, I'm wireless
You could disable the wireless connection when the laptop is plugged into the router (not the modem as that has one ethernet out that should remain plugged into the modem). You should be able to do so by going into Control Panel->Network Connections then right click on the wireless one and choose disable. This way you can determine if the ethernet connection is working properly. You shouldn't have to do this though, and it could be more due to traffic on the individual site. that is something you aren't going to be able to control.

Cleveland: Hotel Development
The Holiday Inn Express awning is still blue, but they have added planters around the entrance so the awning is no longer the most notable feature. That is at least a small win. They also replaced the old sign that was on the East side of the building. But while the sign is vertical, the lettering is does not read top to bottom. Instead it is as if the sign should have been placed horizontally. Not bad, but after looking at he old style out of my office window every day this is going to take some getting used to. FYI, on thie website for the hotel Announcements Completely renovated hotel featuring a new contemporary design. The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Cleveland Downtown is now accepting reservations for arrivals after June 21, 2012.

NBA: General News & Discussion
^ there's a clip on you tube right after the game where LBJ and the Heatles are walking into the locker room and you can hear that kid crystal clear pretty d@mn far into the tunnel. It's fantastic. The C's can play as a team and aren't reliant on just their top 2 1/2. The drop off from Wade and James is so deep that those two have to play 48 min at super human levels. The C's have more role players that can contribute in different ways. It allows their best players strengths to really shine, instead of trying to do everything. Doesn't really matter who wins this series though. OKC and the Spurs I think are just at a different level than these two teams. Winner of the West takes the title in 6.

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
Tremont Taphouse probably the closest fit. That was my thought as well, but they aren't really a brewpub. Which is defined as a bar serving beer brewed at a small microbrewery on the premises. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/brewpub I do think that this pizza/brewpub would be a great addition though.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
Looks like the darker colored concrete that was installed in front of the building is getting replaced with pavers. I'm not really thrilled with the overall "improvements". I will admit that it was in terrible shape and something needed to be done, but this has quick and cheap written all over it. I'm sure that the opening of the casino hastened the "improvements", but a little time and effort is required here IMO.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
What I really liked about the article, well I liked all of it, was Tracey Nichols comment: "The mayor says that the big wins are great, but really the bread and butter of growth in the city of Cleveland is in smaller companies," said Tracey Nichols, the city's economic development director. This is how your really populate downtown with jobs. Its like planting grass, you don't put just one big seed and hope it spreads. Lots of little seeds do the job much better.

IRC their idea was to have Jet Ski docks, so you would be able to do that. You'd just need your own Jet Ski.

Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
In regards to the Alcohol service, there is no casino i a neighboring state that offers 24 hour service. Most are required to stop serving between 2-4am. However, Michigan, Pennsylvania and West Virgina are allowed to comp drinks. Which could be an issue for some players. But again that would mean driving at least 2 hours just for free drinks. Not worth it to me. OTH I could see this law being changed more by creating a separate license that is prohibitive for most if not all bars to apply for it.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
That is very true of the Potbelly's sign. I hope it is one of the spreading effects of E4th that better signs are erected when new businesses open. Also pretty impressive that between PS and E9th there are 5 spots that are currently unoccupied (I am assuming that Schoefield will have tenets whenever they reopen), pretty remarkable considering where things were just a few years ago.

Columbus Crew Discussion
I might be the worst person to answer this because I really don't get into the whole "bitter rivalry" thing - so I might be downplaying this. But I'm not sure Columbus/Cleveland would develop into a Cleveland/Cincinnati or especially a Cleveland/Pittsburgh type sports rivalry. As far as NFL, MLB and NBA fandom goes, Columbus feels like "Cleveland South" at times. Partially because of Clevelanders who have moved into Central Ohio and partially because of the bandwagon effect, there are tons of Browns, Indians and Cavs fans here. Heck, Columbus' AAA baseball team is even the farm team for the Indians. But like you said, there is no modern example of a Columbus/Cleveland sports rivalry. So maybe it would develop into a rivalry if they played head-to-head games. But it just doesn't seem natural to have one. However, if Detroit got a MLS team . . . now that seems more natural. I don't think a Cleveland MLS team will happen for a long time. Unless the Crew are moved up here. There is no real point for MLS to create a division among the Ohio soccer fans. There honestly probably aren't enough to currently support two teams in state. Although I know if there was a team up here I would definitely have season tickets. I really would expect the 20th MLS team to be in NYC. Maybe Detroit, but probably not the Florida area. While that is a big soccer market and has a good number of fans they are mostly immigrant fans. Where they are supporting the teams their fathers supported (like Barca and Madrid or the National teams of South American countries). MLS has done a much better job of including the Latino population in their fan bases (Chivas and Houston have done particularly well), but Florida is just a weird place fan wise all around, look at all the trouble Jacksonville, Tampa, and Miami have filling a stadium. Actually it's just a weird place period.

Columbus Crew Discussion
^ Don't forget that for the 2002 season MLS contracted two teams to go down to 10 total. At the time it really looked like the beginning of the end. So, if you look at the situation from that nadir it is really amazing to where they have come. I still wish the playoff format just took the top 4 teams from each conference but that is a debate for another time (like after the second NYC team is added).

Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
Yes and she said she would go to Erie before here because she prefers mechanical ones hopefully this won't be the vast majority. Though she did said it was a nice casino just crowded...wish I was old enough :-( Which is also false. There are mechanical machines in there, on the main floor no less. Some people I swear will make up any excuse to rag on this city.

Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
I looked all over for pictures of that. I especially remember a newspaper photo of pedestrians forming a human chain to pull a pedestrian back to a railing at the Erieview Plaza. And you often didn't need to use physical effort to get moving on your roller skates or ice skates. The wind was sufficiently strong to get you going! The north-northwest winds are still strong in that area, but much less than they were thanks to the wind breaks added over the years. If this wind break is to be removed, then something else needs to be added. Are we certain that the entire section of trees is being removed? From cursory looks at the renderings and the trees there on Google Streetview I don't think the whole lot will be removed. Although it would be much better if they were to somehow work around the trees and still create their patio. I think that is one of the things that makes Reddstone's patio in GS so great.

I would imagine that it will be that way for the next few days. Pretty sure their GM said that they would be limiting capacity, @ 4K people or so, for the first few days so as not to overwhelm their workers. Probably in one of the PD's 50 articles about their opening. Hopefully they can ramp up capacity before the Tribe's weekend series. I would expect a whole lot of people to be coming in before and after those games.
