Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
And that part in parenthesis is why study after study needs to be done. Financing partners don't give money on gut feelings. There needs to be actual numbers behind the feelings in order for them to hand over those nice large bags with $ on them.

That permit has been there for close to 9 months now. I don't think much has been going on recently, but don't have any inside information. I would actually be surprised if the place opens anytime soon.

Potbelly's is nice, but I was hoping for more retail options. Mostly just to differentiate from all the other restaurant spaces around there. These new apartments in the area can't come online fast enough.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I believe it was mentioned along with the new trolly lines that are supposed to be coming online that he interiors were being refurbished. Not sure if this will provide an actual update to the color scheme (which I am absolutely sure is causing the "Yuck" factor). But I agree a change in color is much needed.

Didn't want to post in the 515 Parking garage thread as I believe it is under completed projects. The empty storefront at the corner of Euclid and E 6th is having work done. Black paper is covering all the windows so we can't really get a sneak peek either. Does anyone have any info regarding what is going in there?

Cleveland: Hotel Development
I want to update the sign that HI Express has posted: "The Holiday Inn Express will be closing for 60 days and will be reopening as a completely refurbished and rebranded Holiday Inn Express" Based on that I would not expect a different flag, but their updated HI Express format. If they don't get rid of the blue awning, I will personally do it for them, under the cover of darkness of course.

Cleveland: Retail News
A while back there were plans for upgrading the entire entrance of the Casino all the way to the entrance to Tower City, with new lighting, sidewalks, etc. Maybe they are starting??? Based on the way that they have closed it all the way to the street and the markings that have been spray painted on the ground this would be my guess. From what I recall it is an improvement, and a much needed one, but not a major overhaul by any means. Feeling to lazy to try and find the plans right now.

Hopefully they will rebrand it a Crowne Plaza. Wishful thinking. Literally zero chance of that happening imo. My money is on HI Express or Hotel Indigo if it stays within IHG. Anyone's best guess if it doesn't... What we dont need is another low-mid level hotel downtown. Although Crown Plaza is a middle of the broad brand for InterContinental/HI Hotels, it's better than an Hotel indigo. Just wishful thinking. They have a sign on their doors that are a bit misleading and honestly I can't make heads or tails of it. Basically, it states that they will be closing for 60 days and a new Holiday Inn Express will be reopening completely refurbished and rebranded.

I'm sure as classy as Hodges can sound. They will be open for the St. Patricks Day parade. The patio anyway. Love that patio, but I think they had a bit of a fail with their sign. It faces parallel to Euclid, not perpendicular like most blade signs. This will make it very hard to see when walking/driving past. I did bring this up on their twitter feed, @HodgesCleveland, and he indicated that there were some regulation issues (based on the size of the one they are putting up it may have hung over the street) and that there will be other signs.

Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
I had it as well, and it was not as flavorful as I was expecting. Not bad in any way, and I do tend to like my food a bit spicy, but I feel that the meat could use some more seasoning. Otherwise the place looks really nice. And I don;t think the portions are that much different than Chipotle.

I apologize if it was (and i kinda thought about it an hour or so after I wrote it). I do enjoy going down to C-Bus as both my sisters are down there. Especially the Victorian Village, Short North and German Village areas. its just unfortunate how disconnected DT feels at times.

Just a perfect description of C-bus:

Well we know for a fact that it isn't a Westin because we also know for a fact that we're getting a Westin through the conversion of the Crowne Plaza. So this is most likely a LM. That's not necessarily true we could have two of the same branded hotels. Its not unheard of. Seen as you are a renowned world traveler ;) can you point us to another similar sized city with two hotels of the same brand in their Downtown. I just feel that outside of a city that is purely tourism we couldn't support two Westin's. Different brands from the same corp absolutely, but the same brand would be competing with each other. Seen as we're playing a little speculation, where do you think a Hilton would go/work. My guess would be over in one of the Warehous district lots, especially if the RTA transit station/Residential tower goes through.

Cleveland: Downtown: Euclid & 9th Tower / Schofield Building Redevelopment
I think they are still building the garage. Although they were pretty far along. Not sure how tall it is supposed o be, but a week or so ago it was 3ish floors. Really can't wait for this one to start. Like mentioned above this is a major, major intersection. Plus I just think it will look d@mn awesome when done.

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
Didn't Dredgers Union say they wanted to expand because of the success they've had? Maybe the work going on is an expansion of their store I've asked various workers at surrounding businesses on E4th and no one has had any idea what it was. They all seemed rather curious too. Work does not seem to be progressing very quickly, but it does look like a complete gut job.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Not sure, but with rumors of Chipotle circulating around here recently this would seem like the perfect spot for them. Actually is there even any work going on?? There is no permit posted. It does seem odd though to put this up if there were nothing happening. Maybe Ari Maron is just getting better about keeping everyone in the dark.

Columbus Crew Discussion
And to think i just got rid of cable, thinking I could watch all the MLS games because I would be outside of their service area (Cleveland) with ONN. Damn you FSN for spoiling my plans. Good news for the Crew though. A better TV contract will increase viewership and hopefully fans.

Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
Where the Holiday Express is currently located? I thought we heard that someone said the Holiday Inn Express was shutting down. In a way, that makes some of the new hotel projects easier to finance and injects increased residential life on lower Euclid Ave. Sounds great to me. It was said on another thread that the hotel closed for "rebranding" but nothing has been confirmed, not even the closure of the hotel. I havnt heard anything else about it. The National City building is confusing me. There is, I believe a plaque on both Euclid (right next to the Holiday Inn) and East 6th, on the side of the Garfield Building, that say it is the Old National City Bank Building. Does this building wrap around the Garfield? Or are they one in the same. If you look on Euclid the building containing the Holiday Inn is distinctly different than the Guardian. From my understanding these are two distinct buildings. The building with the Holiday Inn is the Guardian Bldg, this contains the old National City Bank Branch. This is not the building under discussion for conversion. The Garfield Bldg is under such discussion, however preliminary, and is located immediatly adjacent to the HI Express/Nat City Bank/Guardian Bldg. It is attached and I think that is what is confusion some people. Also I'm pretty sure it is attached in a couple of spots as NCC used to house a lot of offices in the Garfield Bldg. Now it is empty, at least the Garfield Bldg. Either this one or the Baker Bldg should be converted to residential. Not sure if both could be, that would be a significant amount of housing coming online very quickly (between this, FEB, and the Hanna Annex).

There is no true bakery in Downtown. I remember when Hough Bakery was on the square and the line would be 20 deep at any point of the day. Damn now I want a Hough bakery sugar coookie! Anyway, this is a plus for downtown as a whole. We're gaining a traditional neighborhood business, that is an asset for downtown all around. Yeah there have been many afternoons that I have needed a sugar fix. This place is just a little too close though...

Cleveland: Random Development and News
I didn't know any architecture firms that would actually release such an infantile-looking graphic. It looks like it was made with some early 1990s-era graphic design software. I'm actually not sure that an actual architecture firm released that design. They have been talking about redoing the lodge there for a while. Mostly because the existing buildings are not on stable footing. I actually would not be surprised to find out that they had one of their teenagers working there put this together.

I also love how giant the bridge over their little creek is. It's a ski resort that barely acknowledges that they should be putting money back into their product. I'm actually impressed it wasn't made out of Lincoln Logs.

They have window signs on the PS side, but nothing along the lines of what they were approved to put up yet. On that note though there was someone this morning working on the flag pole holders along Ontario. Could have been electrical for the lighting though. Hopefully there will be some more external activity soon. May 14th is a lot closer than you think.

The old Octane Cafe space on Euclid is going to become Colossal Cupcakes, they have a sign out now. That space seems like it would be really large for a cupcake shop, but I suppose if they use it for more than just retail and expand the kitchen it would be about the right size. Either way it is good to see something go into that spot, especially something that is not just another sandwich place.

Me in Cinci, that right there is a "funny"! HA! 8) Hey at least I saw the light and got out. But yeah for the most part all those lines are true. HUH? You lost me with that one. I grew up in Cincy, went to college in Dayton, then moved to Cleveland. Yeah...but you moved to the westside, so it's just like being in Cinci-tucky! HA! Just kidding, you sensitive westies, I couldn't resist jumping on that one, hey, you left yourself open! :P Seriously, you made an upgrade in your life! Welcome to a real city! HA! Ohh I left that there on purpose ;) Besides I can't make too drastic of a change all at once. I may get home sick and start making moonshine or something. It's a process MTS.
