Cleveland: Food Trucks/Carts News & Discussion
Is there a city the size of cleveland with a thriving food truck scene? I think we recognize that LA, NYC, and most bigger cityies will have a good number of food trucks, but what about smaller cities? Check out http://www.mobilecravings.com/ and you'll see that most cities cleveland compares to have one truck. I think it is good that they are aiming to make the permitting process easier. But from a city perspective a full fledged restaurant brings in a lot more tax revenue than the food truck. Also, if they cause a place to close down then all of us on here will be bemoaning the loss. I think it is a delicate balance that needs to be walked so that the food trucks don't have an inherent advantage.

Honey we do this in Cleveland as well! HA! Thats true. Heaven forbid you would ever venture across the river. Why you may find a sudden appetite for TGI Fridays and the urge to go shopping at your local Kohls. Then again when us west-siders cross we have a sudden complex to speak in navely aristocratic voices and demand that the maid fluff the pillows 3 times not just twice. I visit the Westside. I have family in Clark, Tremont, Ohio City and the West Bank, and I have to get to the airport. If you ever saw or heard me admit to shopping at Kohls, trust and believe, I've gone mad! And I'm sure each visit involved more kicking and screaming than a 9 year old girls soccer game. So I should get rid of the wife? :-o :-o

Weather
I love snow in November and December (and some of January). After that, I'd much rather it melt and be mild in February, so that sounds like a nice winter to me. Aghh...NOOOO!!! I need snow, and decent snow at that until March, after my b-day (March 2nd) it can become mild and melt all the snow. Skiing on dirt is not so much fun. Hopefully an early cold snap will allow paces to start making snow. Especially those in Western NY.

I love how my little tread for advice on a quick trip to NYC has become a throwdown for everyone that lives in NYC to defend their turf. At least I enjoy all you crazies.

Yeah it's crossed the mind... Don't you worry. I have a feeling I am going to end up at Four Seasons for dinner, in which case the question becomes do we do the prix fixe meal or just order off the menu?? And probably one other place. Unless anyone has any amazing lunch recommendations, taking into account that lunch will be @ Rockefeller Center Thursday, 34th st/Herald Sq Friday, Friday is spoken for, and Grand Central Station Saturday, then we will likely just find what we find. Four Season Restaurant is a great choice! If you're going to eat inside of Rock Center the only restaurant to eat in is The Sea Grill. Period. Other suggestions near Rock Center Oceana Del Friscos 21 Club The Modern Brasserie 8½ The food hall at the Plaza Hotel Ohhhh...I just thought you may want to walk thru Plaza, Peninsula, St. Regis or Waldorf Hotels. Just to say you've walked through the lobbies and its also an place to take a break if you get tired from walking. Herald Square doesn't have good food. You either need to go North to Midtown or South to Flat Iron/Murray Hill. There is a strip of Korean Restaurants on Broadway so maybe - just maybe - Ram23 could be of assistance. In Grand Central Metrazur Oyster Bar Before you leave check out the Campbell Apartment. Probably not going to be eating in the Rock Center, but was wondering what was in the area. Korean doesn't sound like a bad idea for lunch. Ram if you have one or two spots that you prefer in the area please let me know.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
"Sanchise"? Ummm, "Sanchez" is a popular name among Avogadro's people! How could you f*ck that up? :wtf: Turn off E! and listen to what all those delusional Jets fans are calling this guy. The Sanchise (Sanchez + Franchise=Sanchise), worst nickname for a current QB. Especially since it was dubbed upon him when he was drafted, not after he had done anything. Which quite honestly I'm still not sure he has yet. Too bad Braylon shaved the beard. I'm sure someone in the dawg pound could have ripped it off for him.

Columbus Crew Discussion
Yes it was. I think that next year they may not make it back to the playoffs. Schelotto is getting old and its pretty clear that even at his age right now he has the best touch and vision. They need younger playmakers, specifically up top. Lenhart is a good target forward, but there is no one that can really run at people. Rodgers can to a degree, but it would be nice to have a solid attacking forward with ball control. Someone like Cummings or Buddle.

Are you asking Midtown east? Yes, in that area. go austrian for lunch, this one has views over central park: http://newyork.timeout.com/eat-drink/restaurants/124939/seaesonal-restaurant-weinbar or if you want less expensive you could go greek at ethos, its at e33rd and 3rd ave (aka toidy toid n toid). good place! oh speaking of austrian, that reminds me -- you must must must go to cafe sabarsky first thing in the morning before you go to the met or guggenheim, its on 5th ave and is very close to both. go in right at 9am when it opens: http://nymag.com/listings/restaurant/cafe-sabarsky/ Seasonal might be interesting and we will be in that area around lunch. As for Sabarsky, we are going to the American History Museum first then over to the Met and Guggenheim so probably not going to make it there.

OK. What type of food or restaurants do you guys like? Is there a particular restaurant or area you've read about/researched? MTS, we're westsiders so just point us to something that resembles an Applebees and we'll be happy. ;D ;D We like a pretty wide range of foods, although we have ended up cooking at home more than going out. Knowing that there is a good amount of the Cleveland Restaurant scene that we should explore but havent yet, I would want something that we can't find here or doesn't get done well here. OMG....Do me a favor, if people ask where you live say "Columbus"! Then they will understand, why you're socially uncultured and don't know any better! Should I poke the bear anymore or should I be done for the day...

Don't really have a budget per se. Really don't want to spend more than $300 on one meal just for the two of us though. Anything $200 and below, with 1 bottle of wine, would be great.

What effect has the economy had on you?
Well, considering that I managed to survive the NCC-PNC merger I think things have been going my way

Seen as I offended MTS with my Westsider-ness I need to seek recommendations for dinners on Thursday and Sat. nights. Thursday we will probably be in Midtown. We may go to ESB and walk back up 5th Ave, Lexington, etc. The evening is kinda open. Saturday we will be in the Upper East Side area. This will likely be an earlier dinner as we are planning on going to the Met afterward, they are open late and someone said it was a bit more laid back then. Which sounded good.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Saw that yesterday, actually saw the banner being taken away. My first thought was that they should have made the backgound of the sign black to match the deli next door, but Dollar Bank actually has a forest green background as well so it is the Deli that is more out of line. Regarding lighting, will the sign be back lit, or have spotlights? I know there was electrical wiring behind the sign, as it could be seen while it was in its temporary stage.

Ouch, go get a coffee I think your blood sugar is low. And, while the Westside is notorious for their love of Chain food, besides traveling down 71 to visit family I don't think I or the wife have eaten in a chain in 2 years. There are non-chains on the west side, they are just slightly more hidden. Don't knock the clearance bin, how do you think I can afford this little adventure.

What part of Cleveland? Pretty sure they lived in N. Royalton, her parents and the wife's parents lived next to each other for a while (The wife's mom has lived there her whole life, such a sheltered life). They have since moved to C-bus... No wonder why they picked serafina, they're [suburban - which makes things worst] westsiders! What do they know about fashion, art, beauty, design, dining and/or culture?! Well as a semi suburban (Middleburg Hts - Semi Suburban, Strongsvill - Full Suburban (its what i believe and it makes me feel better)) westsider I should feel right at home there. I was trying my best to keep them out of the GV/Chelsea ghetto! Again, I want them to have a great experience, not a "so-so" experience. Teddres55 - look at the restaurant reviews for Serafina then compare them to what i've listed, then you tell me what looks and sound more appetizing! Dont let these broke a$$, jealous, bitter hoes ruin your weekend! LOL Yeah i am sure that those are great places, but I'm thinking something like that would be better for just the two of us. So that could be a Sat. Night dinner plan. It is just going to be the three of us.

HUSH. I want them to have a memorable time in NYC not an "OK" experience. you sure do -- first you tried to get him all up in the ghetto, now you're meddling in his dinner plans instead of responding to the question he actually asked! so wait -- mts he should just take the bus down and walk on the highline, then head over for the gv tour, right? what do you think? now i'm thinking that downtime between 10:30am-2pm really isnt a lot of time to be hiking around all over the place, plus they will need lunch. :wtf: I know thats why I asked. It is almost too short of a time to really do much. But I dont just want to be twiddling mt thumbs either.
