  1. Serafina? Eww! Ask them to take you to La Bernardin, Gari 46, Aureole, Becco, Blue Fin. Those are much better options (in my opinion) than Serafina? Hell, you might as well be eating at Virgil's BBQ! ::) ::) ::) Hey this is another Clevelandite transplant that apparently you need to talk some sense into then.
  2. So on Fri, after the Circle Line Cruise we were going to go over to Time Sq. for lunch and then down to Greenwich Village for a tour and dinner down in that area. Well, the wife's friend who lives in Manhattan wants to meet for dinner at Serafina which is @ Times Sq. I wasn't real excited to be going to Times Sq. during the day to begin with, and really don't want to go there twice in one day. So as I still plan on doing the cruise and the tour I need something to kill the time, and eat. The cruise should be done around 10-10:30 (docks at 43rd st and 12th Ave) and the tour starts at 2 (meeting at Waverly Pl and 6th Ave.) I am thinking that going over to the High Line. Any other good ideas?

Riley and Nike need to be in full damage control mode. They have a product that isn't living up to the hype right now. I wouldn't say that Simmons article was damage control (I'm sure there is an article somewhere in the mothership that is more apologetic and upbeat for the Heat's prospects). More pointing out where the problems lie with this "marriage". And I think he is right for the most part, at least through the first 2 games of an 82 game season. Call me in January, then I'll care about the NBA again. You're right, I love soccer now! Seriously, we've had this argument before. Can't we agree to disagree and leave soccer out of the "NBA: General Discussion" thread? Hey, I just threw my original comment in as an afterthought. But yes we both have made our positions and agree to disagree on the sport. I do think the NBA could use some changes to make the last 2 mins more like the other 46 min.

Watching the grass grow is uninterrupted by commercials as well. :) Which is fantastic once you hit the final 10 min (about equivalent to the final 2 min in Basketball). Play continues unabated, with whichever team that is down pressing, creating, and in general creating havoc. also leads to long counter attacks think (Landon Donovan's goal in the WC) which may be the most exciting sequences in all of sports.
  5. I missed most of the first half, but at the start of the second they looked terrible. They couldn't keep possession, and were really really lucky that Colorado didn't put one or two more in. Once they replaced Scholleto and Lenhart they seemed to have more energy. Really thought Iro's header was going in. he could of had it on the rebound if it bounced the right way and he didn't have to bring it down first. Ohh Well 1-0 loss on the away leg is not bad at all. easily can be made up once they get back home.
  6. They are at Iowa, which is a tough place to play. And their big wins this year have been at home for the most part (Wiscy, which always plays better at home than on the road and ND who has now been shown to be a terrible team), their only quality road win is Michigan and I think we can honestly say that they are not that great of a team.

I think it's like that for every sport. I mean a 1 hour football game is 2:20 Minutes. There was an article in the WSJ, I think, a while back that reviewed NFL games. They came to the conclusion that for each hour of game watched there were something like 11-13 mins of actual game action. This included all time that had inaction, so even pre-snap when the clock was running i think was considered inaction. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704281204575002852055561406.html Be interesting to see what the break out of basketball is, especially a comparison of the first 46 min to the last 2 min. (and to think soccer is looked down upon, but has 45+ min of continuous play a half)

Most Turnovers aren't from ball handling. Someone stepping into a passing lane-> TO, Tipped ball into defenders hands->TO, Traveling TO, Shot clock violation TO, there are lots of different way to create a TO that dont involve dribbling it off your foot.
  9. Fountains - You mean NEW fountains? There's already a fountain in the northeast quadrant. I like the idea of a "water feature" where kids could play in. Although suburban parents probably won't come downtown JUST for a water feature. It's something they'd go to in addition to something else (like a free concert in the ampitheater). And there's the whole issue of people bathing/peeing in it. I believe the new Perk Park is going to have a water feature. May be in the 2nd phase though, but it is designed for it.
  10. BTW, they changed the standpipe signs on the fron of the building to read "Rosetta Building" Any idea when they are planning on putting their name on the side that used to have the NCC ad? I thought I saw that on the Cleveland Planning site at one point.

Right right, corporate whore. Ha, no I respect what SI puts together editorially much more than anyone else. There are really just a few writers at ESPN that I take seriously at all, JA Adande and hopefully Windy as he gets some more exposure. I mean it is an "Entertainment" and Sports Programing Network.

The TNT guys just pander to whatever the current opinion of the second is; except Barkley he usually speaks what is on his mind, good bad or from space aliens. In all honesty 20-30 wins is where the team should be expected pre-season. There are way too many unknowns about the roster to project any higher right now. Could they win 45 and be a 5-6 seed, yeah but JJ will have to make that next step (looks possible after last night), Jamison needs to be good with coming off the bench, Mo needs to be a dead eye from the 3, and the team as a whole needs to push the ball. If all that happens, big if, 45 is possible. If Mo is hurt for an extended period of time, also a good possibility, or if JJ acts like an immature 21 y.o. then they could easily fall to 25-30 wins. I still think they will sneak into the playoffs as a 7 seed, but not sure that is the best thing for the franchise. Might be better to get into the lottery and improve through the draft.
  13. I heard within the next couple of weeks. Good because if 327 were here I'm sure there would have been 3 rants about quality signage by this point.
  14. Ha I knew I'd get a rise out of you on that one. Bazinga!! ;) Are you saying to take the M60 bus from LaGuardia? Goggle Maps disagrees. The M60 goes through Queens to Harlem. Nowhere near Midtown, and the train connections dont work either. So, I think the Q33 will get me to Rockefeller Center much faster. Oh...so now you're an expert? HUMPH! I take the bus all the time. You're back tracking. The M60 travels EAST, right past the N/R which would let you off in midtown at 49 Street/B'way, two short blocks from Rock Center. Even if you went thru harlem it would connect you to the 2/3 (2 short blocks from Rock Ctr.) or B/D which are directly under rock Ctr. It's very Guadalajara where the Q33 connects. There are always delays on the E/F/N/R lines from Queens. Well that was going to be my next question about how these connections would go. BTW, you need to complain to google. They love routing people onto the Q33. You have to thoroughly mess with it in order for the M60 to be an option to that area. I suppose I can play it by ear as to which to take. Depending on which issues MTA is running into at that time. Ok, so if I scrap ESB, and go to Top of the Rock that first night, I could take my trek across the Brooklyn Bridge. :D You guys are great.
  15. Franklin Castle. Plus there is 7 floors of hell out in Berea. The kids said it was fun, but what the hell do teenagers know about scary?! Are they your nephews and nieces? Have they been around you first thing in the morning?? 'cause I'm sure you're just a Jolly Green Giant then ... ::duck and roll:: Work PC can't see your funny little pictures so as far as i'm concerned there is no picture and you are just flabergasted at my comment. I'd actually love to do these CCM rides, but so far they haven't worked. I'll be looking for them again in the spring.

Again all help is appreciated. And MTS I wanted to wait until you were back before I posted this just so that our most outspoken NYC transplant can offer his ... two ... cents.
  19. Agreed that once Wallace is healthy he should play. Delhomme should never play again, should have played at all last year either. I know that probably wont happen, as Delhomme is getting $7 mil this year and will probably start once hes healthy, but he doesn't have a Steve Smith to chuck the ball to on the Browns. No WR will punch someone in the face for the ball on the Browns.
  20. As a Carolina Panthers Fan masquerading as a Browns fan you don't ever want to see Jake under center again. I was apologizing to my friend who has season tix the instant they signed him. When he blew the playoff game 2 years ago with 5 turnovers it was a mistake, when he threw 3 interceptions in the opener next year it was a trend, he's never recovered. I actually think he is better with just an earpiece and a clipboard. Make him the new quarterbacks coach and I think that's a perfect fit.
  21. Really wish there was some kind of rotating picture collection. Partially because I'm selfish, I walk by that wall every day and staring at the same pictures is a bit of a bore. Although I will admit that I do catch something new in each pic every once in a while. And it is really small, heaven forbid three people try to walk through there side by side at once.
  22. ^ honestly, I don't think there is anything wrong with the Red Line Cars. And I would think the RTA can use those dollars much more productively than on the inside of those cars. Replacing the Brookpark Station(hell really just the parking lot, fell like I'm going to blow out a tire every morning), or just about any Eastside station would be a good start.
  23. Also keep in mind regarding the amount of this reduction, PNC had to divest some branches in the area, not a lot like they did in Pitt, but some. And all the assets associated with that branch went to the new company, being any account of any kind that was opened at that branch, whether someone uses that branch as their primary one or not.
  24. I know they have been trying to keep the building within some LEED certified energy use window, so this could have some affect on that. I know we can't adjust the AC on our floor at all.
  25. I need to figure out how to bring my UO self into 2.5D!
