Cleveland: Filling in Euclid Avenue
Well, Zoup is hiring so hopefully we can enjoy some soup in the sun soon. Also noticed that there were workers clearing out the City Blue place, taking it down to the framing it looked like. Also the empty space next to it on E4th had white paint on the windows. Anyone know if there is finally going to be something going in here? Could they be trying to knock down the wall between the two buildings and make one really big space? I want info! :)

Where did the trolleys run to and from? All the way to DT or was it a shorter route?

Best Movies Ever Made?
Doesn't feel as if all the Fancy computer effects have robbed Sci-fi movies of some of their depth? I mean some look terrible now. Independance Day seems instanly dated yet Aliens or Star Wars holds up for decades.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I have been meaning to comment on them, but has been slipping my mind. Never been there for lunch, but occasionally grabbed a crepe for breakfast on the way in. They were really good. Never had a crepe before so I personally can't tell if they are good, great, or other worldly fantastic, but I keep going back. RnR, I did have that crepe and it is very good, you should get it. Also, good to hear that their lunches sound healthy and affordable. Hard to find that combo DT.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
I know that condo conversions are in vogue right now, but are we anywhere near a point of saturation? Also reducing some of the Class B-C office space, while it may look good for occupancy numbers, wont this remove some of the cheaper rents from companies that may be looking to move but not afford Class A space. I fear becoming over zelous on condo conversions and drastically reducing the capacity for white collar jobs. Then again if this can make the case for building on the Public Square Super Lots then do it. Do it now!

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
Forest City's Neil Mohney proposes turning Public Square into a park By Steven Litt, The Plain Dealer February 23, 2010, 4:50PM Neil MohneyNeil Mohney's proposal shows how Public Square could be turned into a central commons for Cleveland. To some, it's a given that Public Square in downtown Cleveland will remain divided by cross streets which carve it into four equal quadrants. Neil Mohney is not one of them. http://blog.cleveland.com/architecture/2010/02/forest_citys_neil_mohney_propo.html

REI would be great, especially with a connection to the Towpath.

From what I remember about the language was that there were multiple sites in Cleveland had could be chosen. They were listed separately, ie the Higgbee Building or between Huron and Canal. I think the Scranton Peninsula was included. Basically it is all the same area, just not all the same site.

Other States: Passenger Rail News
The Comments from the customers are the most telling about gas taxes. As long as they are used to make transportation better then I don't think most customers would mind paying the extra 5 cents a gallon.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
It looks like work has started on the space next to Teresa's Pizza on Euclid. Do we know what is going in this space? I thought I heard a Souper Market at one point. It's not very wide but does go back pretty damn far.

Weather
^ I agree. I especially like that the temps have been relativly low, not too many days above freezing and not for a long time. Keeps the snow in good condition. Then again as a skier, and racing at that, my views are probably a bit skewed. Generally though I beleive that getting through winters in Cleveland makes you appreciate each day when the weather is nice just a little buit more.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
^ I have seen people place luggage there, and have used it to place my bag if it's a standing room only train, used to be a bit more common. However, I think the idea of having a garbage container on the train would be a great idea.

Are you sure there is other parts of downtown outside of those districts ;) anyway, this morning Chocolate Bar was installing a backlit sign. Basically looks like their martini glass logo, just above their entrance facing Euclid. Don't have a camera so no pics but if someone would be kind enough to snap one I;m sure it would be useful.

^ I agree with you on HOB. That is just a terrible decision that likely results in them losing customers for dinner as well. It really is a travesty if a place cannot even open for their posted hours!

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Lunch can be a tricky one for certian places to operate for. I have worked in the industry on both sides of the house and while the actual employees may not cost an establishment much, the food will. And one slow day means that all the food that has been preped for lunch cannot be used in dinner service. Again depending on the restaurant that can lead to a significant loss. And if over the course of a few months lunches are not profitable then there is no reason for them to be open. That I think is a reflection more on the job market in its current state that some of these places cannot remain open for lunch.

^ yes but at lease Pickwick doesnt make a habit of speaking falsely. From their Website: Winter Seasonal Hours of Operation: Tuesday-Sunday 4pm-Close Spring Seasonal Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday 11:30 am-Close Saturday-Sunday 4 pm-Close http://www.pickwickandfrolic.com/aboutus.html Not very descriptive, but I think we can all agree that it is still winter.

Huh? Yeah I didn't realize Valley View was not a part of the suburbs, or that Milford in Cincinnati wasn't near the Exurbs.

Cleveland: The Residences at 668 Euclid Avenue
^ What would you have wanted from an advertising company? They are not likely to get any walk in customers. And I wouldn't say they are barricaded from the street, if they had stayed in the Skylight Tower that would be barricading themselves. As the article stated they are leaving the office more and discovering the area, more than they ever did before.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
If AG creates a satalite office for some of the executives that live in Beachwood (I think someone mentioned that possibility in their Relocation Thread) then they could have the more creative and administrative move DT. I would think that their designers would want something like that and it might be quicker for the Execs to come DT than go over to Brooklyn from Beachwood.

Cincinnati Cyclones Discussion
I couldn't agree more. It always felt like a hockey game at the gardens. Like a fight could break out on the ice or in the stands. I do understand that the gardens doesn't feel as nice, clean, whatever. But it has character that US Bank Arena doesn't have (just saying it sounds sterile).
