  1. I know that they reduced their hours. Likely in an effort to contain costs. I had heard that they were having some trouble before. But it is a shame as their smoothies were pretty good.
  2. The Monthly passes come pre activated. So there is no need to swipe them in the machines to activate them. Also, you do need to swipe them when entering or exiting TC. Kinda redundant, but it is to supposedly get user counts. Anyway I used the new machines to buy the wife a 5 ride pass and it was very convienient to pay w/ a credit card, but we couldn't figure out how to swipe them for the return trip. Granted we had gone to Feast and had spent $70 on food and drinks, mostly drinks, so I can't really comment on their usability.
  3. That really is going to be something. And now it will truly look like there are two seperate buildings there, City Club and this one. The old facade made it blend in too much. I truthfully didn;t know they were seperate until they started the removal process.
  4. Also looks like there are covered walkways from RRHOF->GLSC->Mather. I think these were refernaced in the presentation as well, or at least that during winter it would be nice. And I do think that it would be a great way to expand the use of the attractions in the winter months. It may not take away the wind, but some walkways not covered by dirty snow would be nice.
  5. We are expecting the crowd, I recall driving around it to get to covnetry once. And I do want to come back once the Feast is over so that we can kinda do our own thing. But I do really enjoy a good Party :)
  6. So instead of actually going to dinner in Little Italy, we were going to go today, we realized that Feast is going on and are just going to wander around and enjoy it. After all she really just wanted cannoli. So I think sometime in the near future we need to make it out to some of the places that were recommended. BTW I have never been to the Feast so I'm really not sure what to expect.
  7. Probably because the Kolping Society organized this and they may own Kolping Park, where this is being held. Doing something free of rent is a great deal for a likely not for profit. Plus if they own the park then they wont have to deal with a third party's rules and reg while putting on the event. Basically it comes down to it was simpiler.
  8. ^ I'm not so sure about the segways, they just seem kinda goofy to me. I understand that they are likely quicker than most people could run, but I think there will be too much of an association with the "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" movie.
  9. Good to know that as if there was any evidence to the contrary this would raise a whole bunch of stink. I'm sure the PD will report it as such anyway.
  10. Prove it was theft! Can you prove that it wasnt? or are we all just speculating on what happened?
  11. Yeah, but thats for the card media. If I remember, as I have been getting a monthly pass for 7 months now, a one way trip just gives you a paper receipt. IF they are changing that then I can see how you would swipe it, or if I'm wrong.
  12. How do you swipe the receipt?

That is a really tight time frame.
  14. Folks I need some help. The anniversary is coming up next week and the wife really wants a good authentic cannoli. We were thinking of heading to Little Italy, but I have never been there (Moved to Cleveland 4 years ago, and live on the west side; I haven't had a chance to get out there and she probably hasn't since she was a teenager). I'm looking for recommendations, we both are pretty adventurous and a good wine list is a must.
  15. Looking at the floorplan, is there only one elevator for all the apts? I thought there would have been one for the Prospect side and one for the Euclid.
  16. EC, I know you are against lawn services like Chem Lawn, but do you feel the same about induvidual use of fertilizers and weed chemicals? I am sure that these are still harmful to the environment if used excessivly, like a Chem Lawn, but I know that when using htem on my own lawn that they dont get used that often? Anyway curious on your thoughts and how they might affect the local watershed.
  17. If there is a better alternative then I think we would all like to hear it. I would say most are in agreement that the port should move from its current location. EC, if you have a better spot lay it on us and let the debate begin!
  18. ^ I would say that is a company doing due diligence and not over commiting. While downtown is not a crime havent that so many people make it out to be, there is always a chance that something could go wrong. Additionally it could be that w/ a 24hr gym staffing at night may be limited. All factors need to be considered why examining safty, inside and out.
  19. ^ As an avid boater that is trying to make a return trip to Kelly's Island I strongly endorse this one. The island is big enough for calrs and you will encounter some, but it is more likey that you will see people on golf carts and bikes. Most, if not all, bars and restaurants have bike racks so it is really considered the main form of transportation. And as the island is around 4 sq mi it is easily transversed in one day.

Is there even still time to change the plans for the interstate routing? It seems that ODOT is set on giving us some nice girder bridges.

KJP did you consider straightening the curve that would be created around Tri-C and St.Vincent Charity Hospital? This interchange works currently as routed because everything around that cure is moving at an off ramp speed, leaving this curve would create a second DMC. At least it is my view that unless there is complete redesign of the way that 90 would connect to the current 77 it could create another dangerous freeway situation.

What three interchanges? This is from our perspective living off 71. With the routing of 71/90->490->77->90 there would seem to be 3 interchanges, 71->490, 490->77, and 77->90. Without some major reconfiguration to the 77->90 interchange, which I'm sure there will be, i'm just not sure it is going to be enough to create a smooth enough trasition. There would need to be some significant land acquisition in order to straiten the U-curve that is currently there between 90-77.

I spoke with the wife about this, and her concern is that the addition of essentially 3 more interchanges to the route may create a deterrent for suberbanites to come downtown. I know that everyone on here will relate that there are adaquate alternatives, i.e. Rapid, alternative streets, etc. But most of the businesses survive off the abaility for them to come and spend their money there. If it is made more difficult, even if it is only the perception of greater difficulty, then you may lose customers. Additionally, with this being a major East/West artery there may be federal restrictions on how the routing can be changed. At least the Fed may make things more difficult to acquire funding.
  24. ^he may have started that way but everyone else kept going. And critical mass is an important topic when discussing retail. It would be nice to know what all kinds of different stores needed in residents in X miles in order to open. Then we would know what the number of people would be. Unfortenately it is all speculative from our part.
  25. Also from reading the thread I gathered that the 25K number came from what has been stated as the amount that would support a full sized grocery store. I think the 15K may be in response to the fact that the area of downtown is smaller. Thereby the per sq mile of people would reach the "critical mass." I think that the "critical mass" is very much in the eye of the beholder, but that it is between 15K and 25K.
