World Class Signage in Cleveland
Quote stolen from another thread I think 327 may be making some phone calls . . :D

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
Really I dont think MH is horrible, as I do reside there as well. There is a lot left to be desired with public transit, but most things are not that far. I don't understand how people can live further out from the city than this though. It is the suburbs and right next to a freeway so we get all the chain crap but there are decent things about it too. Metroparks right through the middle for one. And if you look hard enough you can find local restaurants, like Bucci's Brick Oven Pizza. I mean it's not Tremont/Ohio City. But neither is it Brunswick.

World Class Signage in Cleveland
Ok, I agree that the Door and pharse above it are beyond tacky. And obiously when you spend so much on a door and wording above it you may not be able to put up a more expensive sign. However I still think that a banner that is on fixed poles that are afixed to the buildings exterior represent quality signage. As long as it isn't just tied on, which really screams temporary, I think it has its place. Now should the Bang and Clatter taken the savings and better invested it, absoulutly.

World Class Signage in Cleveland
327 you mention that you want a sign with a nighttime impact. Can't this be acheived by placing spotlights on the sign if it isn't back lit. I think Fat fish and Bang and Clatter do this and it is effective. Additionally, if everyone were to place backlit/neon signs I think that it would become overbearing. You need variety ever once in a while.

Other States: Passenger Rail News
Do you think that the increased exposure to other countries, specifically Western Europe, through study abroad programs has actually enabled a larger part of the population to have positive experiances on trains. I know that the wife did a three month study abroad in Germany and loved the abaility to leave Friday or Thursaday night, they only had classes 4 days, and be in another country in a few hours.

Kings Island
Yeah I did much the same. Actually started out working games, nobody seemed to like my pitch to play wack a mole; and yes I really did work the wack a mole. Worked differnet rides from '99-01. They actually wanted me to supervise but at that age (17-18) I did not want to try that hard. Good times back there. Also, I am really excited for this new ride. Ive never been on or seen anything with a splash down. Curious though how that is going to play out in the early spring and late fall days.

Rando when did you work there? I used to work Flight of Fear, loved being in the A/C.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Is the upgrade for the Brookpark station upgrading the current temporary station to make it more of a permement structre? Or is it to rehab the old station? Also, I am assuming that this is nowhere near sovel ready and won't be available for Stimulus funds.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
So, the entrance to the Med mart is going to be at the food court level? That sounds real appealing.

Cleveland: The Residences at 668 Euclid Avenue
looks like sheetrock and framing are going up on the inside. Hopefully when it gets warm they can start working on the exterior, right now its not so pretty. Also, the parking ramp spot may be wide enough for some real green space. Provided they don't slap the ramp right down the middle.

JMasek, Do you know when they are thinking of going to three trains for rush hour rapid service? Or are they still trying to figure out how to deal with the "temporary" two train station that Brookpark has?

Cleveland: Rockometer Proposal
I would much rather see an aquarium built in this space than whatever this is supposed to be. I know we are all going off the renderings that are very preliminary, but seriously a giant Jukebox?? Ridiculous. The "Legacy Plaza" part is a much better idea, and maybe do that instead. Cincinnati, well Newport, put their aquarium right on the riverfront. That was a part of a larger project though. And this space is not that big. But incorporating the Legacy Plaza with an aquarium would make this much more of a destination area. You could go to the IMAX at the Science Center, a show/exhibit at the RRHOF, grab lunch at the Plaza and then go see the fishes! P.S. would the idea of having a Walleye sandwich be a little odd after being in the aquarium?

Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
I walk by this every day. It looks like some V shaped thing is in the back, not sure if it is a doorway. Also looks like track lighting in front right by the window. So could be display for art.
