I would say we will do that after biking around on Sat. as it is right by Central Park but I feel that we will be out of the element for that kind of activity. Maybe Friday night, but she has a work function during the day that will lead to Happy Hour. Not sure we will get up that far north.

^ Those are both Bruell restaurants. I knew it was one of the two in that area. ^^ I looked at Gramercy Tavern, but they did not have any open times. I think their first was 10:00 or so.

Blue Hill doesn't compare to Commerce. If you want a special meal for your anniversary, go to Commerce! Your wife will really appreciate it. I did. She picked Blue Hill. I can only take things so far. Plus we really like the Farm to Table aspect, so that affected things as well. Change. I'm telling you. Change that reservation. One day, you'll listen to me.... Well, to be honest the wife was not a fan of L'Albatross and I believe you have been on the record of loving that place. So in the interest of marital bliss I am going to go with what she choose. This way if she doesn't like it it won't be "my fault". Something I'm sure you would love to say as much as her. Besides if I started listening to you then we wouldn't have these lovely little conversations. Maybe we will stop there for drinks though, it's not far away. The show at the Comedy Cellar isn't until 11 so I imagine we will have some time to kill.

^ Actually just got lucky and booked a table at Blue Hill @ 8:30, yesterday they didn't have anything before 10:30. It does not look like we will be keeping this meal under $300, but it's our anniversary so eff it. BTW, Commerce was on my list of places, and Annisa but they didn't have anything until 10:00. Should be fun, pretty much everything is worked out at this point. Bikes, Dinner, and Comedy. Solid day in the city.

So I totally forgot about making dinner reservations until today. We will be going to the Comedy Cellar at 11 so are figuring Dinner around 8, putting us pretty much at the height of the inner rush. Looking for recommendations in that area; Meatpacking, Greenwich, NoHo, etc. I imagine the majority of my day will be spent being told that there is no availability.
  7. A nice summary article about E4th. If You Build It, They Will Come: How Cleveland Lured Young Professionals Downtown Sophie Quinton 8:44 AM ET When the Maron family decided to redevelop an entire city block in downtown Cleveland, the area was so blighted no restaurateur would lease space there. A decade later, the East Fourth neighborhood is home to Food Network personalities, a House of Blues, and free Saturday yoga classes. Café-style seating spills into the pedestrian-only street. Apartments on the block are fully leased, and a 100-unit building under construction across the street has already reached full capacity. read more

As opposed to starting a new thread just so it can die later I am going to bogart this one. The wife and I are going back to NYC for our Anniversary Weekend, Aug. 9-11. We are just going for the weekend so it wont be anything too crazy. She pretty much said "Don't plan" :drunk:  But she was interested in renting bikes and riding around the city, probably through Central Park. We just got a new Nikon D5200 camera and will probably be playing with that. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for Bike Rentals? We are staying at the W Union Square, so it could be around there or up by Central Park. Also, we are thinking of going to see some stand up comedy act somewhere. Again if anyone has any recommendation they would be appreciated. I promise when I get back I will upload some pictures. I need more experience with the camera anyway before we go to Europe in the fall.
  9. Even non fans!! I don't find baseball enjoyable to sit and actually watch, but it makes great background noise. I had the game on last night while doing other things and it was great. That probably helps their ratings too.
  10. This is popular in the south. I don't want to stop at the "mail center" to get my mail, I want it at my door! Then maybe you need to send USPS a nice check to cover that service. BTW your inbox is full MTS.
  11. That final was not pretty, but that was Panama's gameplan. Park the bus and look for something on the counter. With their speed it was a good plan, and if they tried to play too open the US would have picked them apart. Shea's goal couldn't have been easier, but it did look at first like he may have been caught offside. Donovan didn't touch the ball however, so Shea was good to tap the ball in, @45 sec after entering the game. That is the second time this tournament that a sub has scored in less than 1 min. Overall a nice addition to the trophy case, but the real work starts in a little over 1 month. Costa Rica v. USA, in Costa Rica. The first match was the infamous Snowgedden game, I don't know if the Costa Ricans have any weather tricks they can play, but you can be sure they want some revenge for a game they thought should not have been allowed.
  12. Lakewood per their tweet. Can't link to it as I'm at work.
  13. ^ I believe it is a 1/3 of a mile. $33.7M * 3 = $101.4M Still an overstatement as Keith is right about why the cost is so high.

I've been pre approved for it, but they've never sent me the official invite! if they don't want my money its on them. I'm good with my Platinum. I figured you would have the platinum. The wife actually has the option to upgrade her work AMEX to platinum and would have in a heartbeat if it included access to United Lounges. Alas, it does not, but seems to include access to every other lounge on every other carrier. Just another way that United is trying to nickle and dime you. I wonder if there is a specific hipster credit card. One that gives additional points for shopping at goodwill and vintage record stores. Or if you instagram your purchase.

Yes many are. I'm good to AMEX and AMEX is very good to me. I'm sure AMEX knows exactly what makes them money overall, and won't do a thing beyond that. Have you seen the benefits of those cards? The more bennies they give the more I'm willing to spend! Which AMEX card do you have? I have been looking into a new CC as I'm pretty sure I can do better than the PNC card I have. Almost went with the Chase Preferred Sapphire but wasn't completely sold that their point system was worth it. Their signup bonuses were pretty good though.
  16. The US is on a 9 game winning streak. Granted a few of those games have come against the likes of Cuba and Belize, but it is still a pretty impressive run of form. Their last loss was actually the game in Cleveland against Belgium, I wonder if they were to play again if it would be so lopsided. Probably, but still no reason to not enjoy the way this team is playing. US plays in the Semi-Final of the Gold Cup Wed. 24th against Costa Rica, and, provided they can keep the streak going, will be playing in the Final on Sunday against the winner of Mexico v. Panama. Donovan shines again for U.S. in Gold Cup Posted by Jeff Carlisle With each passing game, the evidence has been mounting that Landon Donovan is back. In Sunday's Gold Cup quarterfinal against El Salvador, Donovan delivered his most impressive performance to date since his national team return, delivering a goal and four assists in a 5-1 victory. In the first half, Donovan set up Clarence Goodson and Joe Corona to stake the Americans to a 2-0 lead. El Salvador then pulled a goal back just before halftime thanks to a Rodolfo Zelaya penalty and went on to create some nervous moments for the U.S. immediately after the break.
  17. It's a continuation of the joint Blue/Green line west of Shaker Square. I know that but was wondering if there was a different color to indicate that the car would be traveling to the Waterfront extension as well? Maybe white or something as it travels into Downtown.
  18. Saw a blue bar above what I am assuming was a Blue Line train so I think it's safe to assume that they are done for all LR. Only question, does the Waterfront Line get a special color or just whichever line it is coming/going in/out on?
  19. I have a friend that works there since they started, they had a good amount of turnover at the start and I wasn't surprised by that as the hours are unusual. I'm sure some of this is replacement, but also due to the fact that they need more table workers than most casinos. Good news about the additional jobs though.
  20. I travel nationally and internationally and Lebron is #1 on my list, ahead of the weather. Thinking more about what people asking me about Cleveland when traveling: 1. LeBron James "The Decision" 2. "How are the Flats?" (boy if they only knew).... 3. Weather, snow etc.... 4. Drew Carey. Those are topics of conversation. Not image or perception. These are what people read or see in the media. I travel for a living and meet people from everywhere. Sure they bring up the Browns or LeBron, but when I tell them that I don't follow sports much (and I don't), they usually tell me that they don't either. So does Charlotte get a bad rap for their losing teams? Kansas City? I believe the perceptions of different cities are determined more by those crappy lists that Forbes and seemingly every other magazine puts out. We know its cr@p, but they have more sticking power about what an actual city represents.
  21. Especially when it's quite possible that football as we know it won't be around in a couple of decades. With the lawsuits beginning to simmer initiated by the players themselves against the NFL for injuries sustained, it's only a matter of time until they drift down to the college, high school and grade school level. What school system will want the liability of a football program? Parents are now loath to let their kids play. Even some ex NFL guys warn against it. This was said a hundred years ago as well. Won't happen. The game certainly hasn't lost any popularity as a spectator sport. It's too good a metaphor for war and too perfect for the American psyche. Agree on no dome. Weather is a big part of the Browns' home field advantage. Look at how quickly Baseball changed from "America's Pasttime" to the second most popular sport in the nation. I wish the poll went back to the beginning of the 80s as I would bet baseball was the most popular sport at that time. I have a feeling that Football could have (or will shortly) reached its zenith in popularity.
  22. Done. Thank you. FYI next Gold Cup match is Sat. against Cuba. Anyone want to take bets that Cuba doesn't show up with the full 23 man roster?
  23. Mods Can this thread be renamed as the USA Men's Soccer thread. The USA dismantled Belize 6-1, granted Belize is a tiny nation and we should dismantle them, but the highlight was Chris Wondolowski scoring a hat trick in the first half and Landon Donovan coming back into the National Team fold after his sabbatical. Wondolowski's time to shine Posted by Jeff Carlisle The U.S. went into its Gold Cup opener against Belize with little to gain other than three points in the standings. After all, reputations are rarely enhanced when a team is forced into the role of Goliath. Yet Chris Wondolowski ensured that this wasn't a night for underdogs and improved his own standing in the process by netting a first-half hat trick to lead the Americans to a 6-1 victory. Ian Gaynair tallied for the Jaguars, while Stuart Holden, Michael Orozco-Fiscal and Landon Donovan scored in the second half for the Americans on Tuesday night. Donovan added two assists, giving him a total of 52 in his international career, and becoming the first American player to record more than 50 goals and 50 assists.
  24. They have been playing this game in Columbus for years now. Typically it has been scheduled for the early round of World Cup Qualifying (US lost at Honduras last week 2-1, a bad loss to have but not the end of the world). We try to bring the Mexican players out of their element by playing in Columbus when its cold. They do the same thing by playing us down there in the heat. Gamesmanship. There is also a rumor that the US will play Belgium in Cleveland toward the end of may at Cleveland Browns Stadium. US Soccer has not confirmed or denied. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2013/01/30/report-us-meet-belgium-cleveland-may-friendly
  25. If Mirch Masla ever opens I will be shocked. They have been "coming soon" for well over a year now.
