  1. Some bus stops have been temporarily removed from Public Square. That's why you don't feel the Ring of Steel impact. Wait until the bus stops are put back around the perimeter and see if it changes.
  2. Interesting. So then does this bridge link the trail up to West 17th/18th/19th between Lorain and Abby?
  3. Slightly off topic, but I'd love to see something like that on Detroit where Max Hayes high school is!
  4. From the article: "Stark might expand the project, now 200,000 square feet on eight floors above a parking garage, by another 100,000 square feet, based on interest from potential tenants. If that happens, a skywalk-like hotel designed to rest atop the office building and to bisect the apartment tower would climb higher into the air."
  5. Agreed. Waterfront property costs more. Open Zillow and look at home prices along the lakeshore compared to just slightly south.
  6. No, he's probably just making moves to increase the desirability of properties he owns.
  7. What would be needed for this to happen? I assume the city would need to purchase all of the buildings? Are they for sale? Would the CMHA buildings be involved in this?
  8. Hopefully lighting will be a part of whatever plan they move forward with. Bright lighting is just critical. Perhaps moving, multicolored lighting.
  9. I don't like this trend of well known local eateries going into pro sports arenas, stadiums and ballparks. You see this at First Energy Stadium as well: Rocco Whalen, Michael Symon and Jonathan Sawyer all have "restaurants" there and it's not the same experience. They're basically just selling rights to their name. They're run by the same company that runs the rest of the stands in the stadium. The quality of the B Spot in the stadium is not the same as an actual B Spot. They don't have the same controls over their employees, either. You're not working for one of those restaurants, you're working for the stadium. Obviously these owners can do what they want and good for them for the money this is going to put into their pockets, but I think it cheapens their brands.
  10. The problem is those are sliding into the river. There's some discussion about making that area a park.
  11. Because's there's no timeline for him to do so.
  12. Yes, and the comparison to the High Line is a good one. Maybe when James Corner is done with Public Square... (I know, they're already picked someone for the bridge)
  13. Blocking views from Browns stadium don't bother me. It shouldn't have been built there in the first place. And even though it's "public" you have to pay to get in to see those views. If there's a boardwalk along the edges of the port, I'll be satisfied. Regarding the hotel between the science center and the Rock Hall, I think a much better spot would be on top of the Science Center garage. You wouldn't be messing with something iconic like the IM Pei designed Rock Hall and the height won't be as much of an issue since it's right next to the stadium.
  14. Their website is live at http://ivoryoneuclid.com/.
  15. The Cuyahoga is somewhat unusual in that it dumps into Lake Erie as opposed to Lake Erie feeding the river. So when it rains, dirt/mud gets washed into the river and then into the lake. It's been that way forever.
  16. "Steel fabrication in Kansas City, Missouri, is in production and will continue into November. To date, nearly 70 tons of steel has been shipped to Cleveland and is awaiting erection." Don't we make steel here anymore?
  17. Awesome! Thanks for taking the time to do that.
  18. "The apartments in the Breuer tower are more than 90 percent leased, Greg Geis said, while the smaller units in the 1010 building are 75 percent leased." I like.
  19. I'm not seeing that anywhere on http://www.the9cleveland.com/. They mention an "energy fitness studio" as an amenity of the hotel, but no spa.
  20. Is downtown population at a point yet where a significant national retailer could be lured to this project?
  21. "Superior Avenue in the square ultimately could have six to eight bus shelters, Kennedy said." That feels like a lot to me for the space available. And I think that's something the renderings leave out: buses idling down the center, a walk of people dividing the two halves of the square... It's going to feel like two very separate pieces. Probably better than what we have, but not as grand as what we're being promised.
  22. I think rooftop bars are key for downtown Cleveland. You need amenities that you don't have in the suburbs to bring people down: sports stadiums, casinos, museums, etc. Yes, you could have a rooftop bar in the suburbs, but it wouldn't be as high and therefore not as impressive.
  23. Lots of infill potential in that neighborhood.
