Cleveland: Downtown: May Company Building
Hope they build it with better insulated walls than they did with the Grand Arcade. "The investors also could build a modest ninth-floor, with approximately 30 apartments." Love that 30 apartments is 'modest'! Overall, love the idea of this project happening.

Cleveland: Downtown: May Company Building
I understand tearing down the old parking garage and making the new street, but I don't understand the courtyard aspect. You just arbitrarily chop up the building or is there some older building in there you'd be tearing down?

Cleveland Public Schools: News and Discussion
But talking about schools beating other schools is also silly, as if the building or even the teachers are the primary factor. They're not. It's the parents. So it's not the suburban "schools" that are great. When you say that, you're actually saying, "The children that go to this building all live within certain geographic boundaries where parents tend to be more involved." When a good school goes bad, it's not that the teachers suddenly stopped teaching. What happened? Involved parents moved out (or their children grew up) and less involved parents moved in (or had children). Conversations should be around how do we create better parents, not better students. Because if you're a poor kid whose single mom is a crack whore, guess what? You have a really tough path to climb whether you go to a Cleveland public school or a Solon public school. You think Solon is more prepared to take care of kids who go home to an empty house and are hungry during class because their mom didn't make them breakfast? No. It's just that situation is more prevalent in Cleveland, so it makes the school look bad when it really has little to do with the building, the teachers or even the students. It's the parents (or lack thereof).

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
Maybe because painted brick is ugly.
-
Cleveland: Downtown: Residences at 1717
Some, like Rosetta Center, have separate freight elevators. Maybe that covered the requirement in some instances.

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
Nautica is 1,100 feet away and The Music Box will be indoors. I don't think it will be an issue.

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
"...and developers are trying to revive the water taxi that once ferried bar-hoppers across the Cuyahoga River." First I've heard of that.

Cleveland: Skylift Aerial Tram
Like a big swing? Hahaha, that would be cool. Does that exist anywhere?
-
Cleveland: Hotel Development
I drove by the Avon one yesterday and the sign said "$219" and I thought, "Whoa, that's expensive!" But then I saw that was per week.
-
Cleveland: Skylift Aerial Tram
At least this is generating conversation. I think the gaps this is pointing out that need to be filled are connecting the stadium/science center/Rock Hall to the rest of downtown (probably via the Mall) and connecting the east and west banks of the Flats. But there's probably cheaper ways to bridge these two gaps.

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
A Channel 19 reporter tweeted that the PlayhouseSquare outdoor updates should be completed by April. They're doing a story on it for their 4pm newscast.

Cleveland: Skylift Aerial Tram
I think that's a pretty safe position for RTA to take.

Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
I'm really cheering for Weston. I'm glad to see a new downtown residential developer/landlord enter the market and I think Weston gives us the best chance of doing something with those parking lots bordered by St. Clair, West 6th, West 3rd and Superior.

Ohio City lands 'Palace of Fermentation' food retail and production center next year: Restaurant Row Cleveland's market district will gain a major food shopping and tourism destination next year, when restaurateur Sam McNulty and his business partners open The Palace of Fermentation in the old Culinary Arts Building at 1849 West 24th St. at Bridge St. in Ohio City. http://www.cleveland.com/dining/index.ssf/2013/08/ohio_city_lands_palace_of_ferm.html

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
The rotunda square footage is very similar to the Hudson location (about 20,000 sq. ft.) so I think the Village Market concept would be a good one for the downtown space.

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
Heinen's just did a focus group with some downtown workers and residents on whether or not they would patronize a Heinen's location in the routunda. So Geis is apparently seeking Heinen's to utilize that public rotunda space. Awesome!

Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
"The county received seven proposals for storage space, including a plan from Optima Ventures to use part of the old Huntington Building, last September." Poor Optima is just saying, "WILL SOMEONE PLEASE PUT SOMETHING IN THIS BUILDING?! ANYTHING!"

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Yeah, it's too bad Lutheran Hospital and West 25th Street were built after Market Garden Brewery. Oh, wait...

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Yes. One of those buildings (both?) is where Ohio City Pasta makes its pasta. I think they really need to upgrade that spot or look for a new location. It looks like someone's making pasta in their garage. I picture noodles strung over rafters...

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
What's the status of this? Article says construction to start Spring 2013, which didn't happen, so...?

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Fitzgerald quote: "Downtown is the county’s number one job center. 75% of downtown workers bring a paycheck home to a residence outside the City of Cleveland; concentrating strategic investments downtown reinforces downtown’s growth and strengthens the entire county.” Love it.

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
You need a Google car that takes pictures in all directions at once!

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Part of me is upset by the free standing building aspect because I believe density is key for cities. But then again, many of the buildings in this area that were torn down were one and two story buildings and I don't really want skyscrapers built right up to the river. Still, no room for some offices or apartments above? Especially apartments...

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
Some tried to call yesterday to reserve spots for the group tour, but it was sold out!

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
As a Rosetta employee, I'm upset I'll be at a happy hour (along with most of my coworkers). I've been excited to see what they're doing in my building! Surprised this poster hasn't been posted around our office.
