  1. if MMPI is giving away free space in The Medical Mart complex all this does is cut into their profit margin. This doesn't seem too come up in any of the debate.

  3. This is from the Cleveland Planning Commission. It shows what work is happening to restore this bridge to its former glory. They list it under wade park bridge http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/landmark/agenda/2011/06232011/index.php
  4. Construction Update - 09/21/11 Project Updates :: September 22, 2011 Turner Construction has completed the load transfer from temporary shoring to nine new permanent columns and foundations underneath Lakeside Avenue. All temporary shoring has been removed and Turner is monitoring the elevations of Lakeside Avenue above the site of the future loading docks as the roadway is now bearing on the new foundation scheme. Turner will grout the nine new columns solid within the next week, locking them in their new permanent positions. http://www.clevelandmedicalmartonline.com/clevelandmedicalmart/index.cfm/news/construction-update-092111/
  5. further photo updates from the construction. The lawns have been planted. An amazing transformation! http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.201970307473.160793.131349842473
  6. Regarding the North Campus : Does anyone have any information on what was discussed or shown? On Sept 16 The Cleveland Planning Commission had this on their agenda. DOWNTOWN/FLATS DESIGN REVIEW DF2011-037: CSU North Campus Neighborhood mixed-use development Project Address: Chester Avenue between East 21st and East 24th Streets Project Representative: Rob Martinson, Buckingham Companies
  7. http://clevelandart.org/about/the%20building%20project.aspx Updated photos from The museum's official website. They can be seen under "recent construction slideshow". I cannot wait to see the finished product. One of the photos shows the east wing addition receiving some work outside of The East Wing glass box. Does anyone know what is happening to that space?
  8. great video showing the re-imagined Allen Theatre space. A job well done
  9. With regards to the raised walkway argument of why it is needed for the purpose of bad weather why is the covered parking through Tower City not an acceptable alternative? Also I assume tourist buses cannot fit into The Welcome Center so where do they drop them off and park?
  10. Western Reserve Historical Society's plans for Euclid Beach Carousel and Crawford Museum's renovations: http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/landmark/agenda/2011/09082011/index.php
  11. Does anyone find this ironic? KA Architects wins Adaptive Reuse Award for the Higbee Building from Cleveland Restoration Society & AIA Cleveland Honor in May of 2009 and now the Higbee Building runs the risk of losing its historic tax credits due to KA Architects designs to mar the original facade with the raised walkway/welcome center.
  12. updated construction photos for august and september http://www.greaterclevelandaquarium.com/construction-photos.html
  13. Thank you Clueless,Ohio. That is exactly what I meant. I unfortunately live in Los Angeles and have not been to that area for at least 20 years . I do not exactly know how the layout of the tracks worked.
  14. Question. Does the RTA Waterfront Line pose a barrier for pedestrians to walk directly to the "lawn" from this phase of development? From the photos it appears the tracks begin to elevate. Also how close is the nearest station to access the RTA trains?
  15. a sea of parking lots! I have always questioned the practicality of the preservation of just The Stanley Block surrounded by nothing but parking structures. The City owned parking structure never made money for Cleveland but somehow adding more parking will. Was losing The Columbia Building really necessary? Who uses The Old May Company parking structure? Is this structure full 24/7?
  16. landmarks commission design review agenda for August 25.2011 Little Italy Historic District: Concept Plan 2/12/2009 RTA Cedar-University Rapid Transit Station Cedar Glen Parkway New construction Ward 9 - Conwell http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/landmark/agenda/2011/08252011/index.php
  17. The Cleveland Planning Commission agenda for August 19th has the final design for the Casino and Welcome Center. I still find the bridge design to be unacceptable. If this is to be pushed through, the historical tax credit should be revoked. As seen in photo 16, it completely destroys the aesthetics of The Higbee's facade. Photo titled Welcome Center 25 shows the construction prior to the bridge. The Design Review Committee needs to look at this and tell the developer to at least design this bridge in a manner that enhances the buildings. Please, if we were to lose The Columbia Building at least hold the developers and architects to a higher standard . How do others feel about the latest plans? I encourage all to let The Commission hear your opinions. http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/designreview/drcagenda/2011/08192011/index.php
  18. I am fascinated to see this re-imagination of the space. The photographs from the article are hard to see how much of the historic architecture you really see through the added skins. The Hanna Theatre seems a bit more on a blend of old and new.

    love the scale of it
  20. some recent photographs of the progress made to the park. the plantings look very nice. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.201970307473.160793.131349842473
  21. i came across this image of the main ave swing bridge and thought wouldnt it be great if this were rebuilt for connectivity for the east and west banks as a pedestrian bridge only. http://images.ulib.csuohio.edu/cdm4/item_viewer.php?CISOROOT=/urbanohio&CISOPTR=620&CISOBOX=1&REC=20
  22. The Scene Magazine was a great read. Thank you for the fyi on the article Here is a link to another photo/postcard of the original bluff/Lake View Park that GGN proposed for The Group Plan to restore. I am/was 100% for this concept. What a majestic space would be restored if the 2 parking structures were removed. Lastly, is it true most of the landfill of the existing lakefront was from the big dig for The Terminal Tower? http://images.ulib.csuohio.edu/cdm4/item_viewer.php?CISOROOT=/postcards&CISOPTR=3928&CISOBOX=1&REC=18 http://images.ulib.csuohio.edu/cdm4/item_viewer.php?CISOROOT=/postcards&CISOPTR=3929&CISOBOX=1&REC=19 http://images.ulib.csuohio.edu/cdm4/item_viewer.php?CISOROOT=/postcards&CISOPTR=3934&CISOBOX=1&REC=1
  23. Great photo KJP. I always thought how amazing it would be if the natural bluff coastline was restored. The Group Plan would be amazing as City Hall and the Court House are literally at the waters edge. I know this would never happen but I always thought of the missed planning opportunities landfill provided. I think of the natural bluff parks along the east side of downtown and how they were pushed so far from the lakefront.
