  1. http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/designreview/drcagenda/2016/03182016/index.php When overviewing the plans presented it doesn't appear any mention of cinder blocking windows. Can anything be done to correct this approval?
  2. How did this vertical sign pass the design review commission? Cinder blocked windows unacceptable for this historic gem.
  3. An odd choice for the decorative lamp posts surrounding the property.
  4. This is part of the upgrades approved earlier this year. In your photo I am amazed the Browns' Stadium bridge is still standing since nobody is allowed to use it anymore. Does anyone know what will happen with this structure if it is to remain.
  5. Please do tell if you have insight. The deadline of June 1 is fast approaching and no mention of any art for that blank wall has been presented to city planning commissions
  6. Unfortunately the back side of the cafe will remain blank for a while. Land Studio chose the Cracking Art installation for Public Square first inserted of focusing it's efforts in what they promised. Not sure what the timeline is for activating this wall but am disappointed it will remain blank and hope their efforts go back to this spot. At this point I would have preferred a green wall of native plants.
  7. I wonder with all the talk about restrooms if the metal panels still have the male and female symbols etched as in the rendering. This would be a great sign for Cleveland if both stall bathrooms are non gender specific. This shouldn't be an issue since these public restrooms are for single occupancy during use. Think of an airplane bathroom,
  8. The $50 million does not include the park maintenance budget for upkeep and planning.
  9. i'll give the project on time but I will not say it was ever on it's initial $32 million budget! No matter how you divide the cost up, this project stands at an end cost of $50 million. Overall it looks great. Were there things that could have been improved on? Yes. The biggest wish would be no traffic cutting through Public Square and my wish that the cafe remained with it's circular design. I will love to see how this park will be used
  10. I had the same thought. Why not push those towers back and make this space an active marina for boaters? This would be one more unique and needed amenity for the growing neighborhood. I am sure all establishments would enjoy this.
  11. May 12 Landmark Commission Agenda Cracking Art placements on Malls A-B and CPL http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/landmark/agenda/2016/05122016/index.phpadditional photos on website.
  12. NArchitects Facebook page has photos showing the install of the cafe's metal panels! IMHO the panels aren't as dynamic or reflective as they were initially rendered. While the idea is interesting I would have preferred the sides to be glass as to minimize the amount of obstructed vistas. The chosen colors of all the materials in the southern half of Public Square all have the same value making the site extremely monochromatic. I have seen the pavers when they are wet from given days of rain and I prefer the darker tone next to the cafe walls. I look forward to seeing what art is planned for the back side of the cafe since it holds such predominance to the park's entrance. NArchitects notes regarding the cafe design and layout "NArchitects . many issues were tested through many schemes, within very tight constraints. The roof was indeed considered; all required mechanical and plumbing elements were consolidated into a recessed court. The budget permitted the team limited flexibility in choosing roofing materials but visibility from above was a factor. The NE facade has about 60 feet of glazing; this was considered the most important vista to the square. The NW, SE, and SW facades are largely opaque since this is where the kitchen/BOH is located. However a large transaction window is provided on the SE, as well as large openings on the SW under the canopies. Once the building is complete we hope you can visit and experience the project.
  13. http://fox8.com/2016/05/09/public-square-renovations-nearly-complete/ All these views were taken From Tower City's Observation Deck. This view is what many will see and photograph of Public Square. Also it appears Cleveland's City Council extended the hours of Public Square and The Malls until midnight instead of 10 pm.
  14. The striping around Public Square looks good. http://www.towercitycenter.com/info/publicsquare/
  15. If Superior were ever to be closed permanently how do you think Field Operations would alter the design?
  16. The HVAC elements were in the initial design presentation to the planning commission. They were never predominantly shown only as slight grey outlines hence they probably were never discussed. All renderings hid these elements and one would assume this was by conscious choice. Nobody ,including myself, would want to show this in renderings Not blaming anyone but for so many views of Public Square always taken from above it would have been nice to have paid more attention to this point of view as a finished surface. Overall kudos to those involved. I loo forward o seeing how this updated public space works for all
  17. I'm not sure what they cut back because the project's budget grew over the build timeline. I wish architects would do a better job rendering these aspects that are part of the issues that could have been corrected if the details were shown
  18. The area where Stacy Levy's "Sky Blossoms" public art installation has begun. From the Hilton Convention Center Hotel's webcam, the grass has been removed and the area is fenced off. This is one project I wish was not happening.
  19. The perimeter has had all existing striping removed on May 4th. This was visible from the the webcam
  20. Were trees planted all the way down E. 9th?
  21. According to Land Studio that is the finished design for the cafe. I was told the design was considered to recess the HVAC for minimal view from the ground. I did mention to them that much of the views of Public Square are from office windows and voiced my concerns with the placement. No response was made after that. Interesting that all articles regarding the cafe as having ton back side and yet clearly the roof was overlooked as being a dominant feature
  22. I wish the cafe's hvac system was hidden. The roof could have been greened similar to how The Hilton's podium roof has been done
  23. Thanks Mendo! It looks better than the renderings !
  24. A well done job. Does anyone have pictures of the canopy that has been added to the east facade? I wish the framed photos of Cleveland vistas were changed to art that matched the amazing painted murals . They just seem out of place and framed incorrectly for the grandeur.
  25. Since it begins the health line route I always associate the shape with the fingertip bandage
