  1. http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/designreview/drcagenda/2015/12182015/index.php New public art and overall plans for The Malls. I wish the water feature on Mall C remained. The art chosen appears to be a better concept for Canal Basin Park or at Voinovich Park locations.
  2. What is going on with so many seat removals? Not sure I have ever seen any plans for the left field corner seats to be removed. Are there any renderings of that area?
  3. But it still will. Last I checked the design still has Superior dividing Public Square. I am all for this design. I am just against the costs that keep rising. Th public deserved to know the truth prior to rushing construction. extra monetary requests for additional cafe seating is not a necessity for this development to ask of the State to cover
  4. Programmng special events never seemed impossible. 4th of July Cleveland Orchestra events worked great. So did Winterfest.
  5. I am still amazed that this project was green lit when nobody ever figured the underground work into the 32 million dollar budget! Someone should have lost there job over this omission to the public. Asking the state for an extra 5 million dollars for frivilous items such as extra seating by the cafe s ridiculous. If Cleveland is asking for more money spend that money on hiring more police officers.
  6. https://ceacisp.org/news/public-square-makeover-hits-32-million-budget-deal-between-cuyahoga-county-rock-ohio-caesars With $32 million committed - and a guaranteed price-ceiling and timeline from contractors - construction can start even though the bonds haven't been issued. But that doesn't mean the heavy lifting is done. The Group Plan Commission still needs to raise money for long-term maintenance of the square and for events and activities that will keep the space lively. http://www.cleveland.com/architecture/index.ssf/2015/10/double_shifts_keep_public_squa.html Of the $5 million increase, $2.7 million is a contingency to cover the potential need to accelerate work to compensate for bad weather or other conditions, and to cover the cost of increased seating for the square's new outdoor café and other design elements, Paris and Deb Janik, the senior vice president for real estate and business development at the partnership, said Tuesday.
  7. i found these additional renderings of restaurant spaces/lounge areas on Downtown Cleveland Hilton's Facebook page. Also stated on their page is the name of th bar on the 32nd floor will be called "Bar 32". IMHO not the most creative name.
  8. looks amazing! I wish all the group plan buildings were lit all year round
  9. http://www.cleveland.com/arts/index.ssf/2015/12/rock_box_public_art_project_ai.html From Steven Litt's article regarding the Rock Box concept. Harris said the concept for the Rock Box installation grew out of an earlier attempt to extend the museum's presence into downtown with its "Walk of Fame," planned as a series of brass sidewalk markers celebrating Rock Hall inductees. But he said the initial installation of 14 brass markers, embedded in sidewalks on Lakeside Avenue near Public Auditorium, where Rock Hall inductions have taken place, did not fare well in Cleveland winters. "They got scraped up by snow plows," Harris said. "Water infiltrates. Ultimately, it becomes a very long-term maintenance nightmare. And as a fitting tribute to an inductee, they're not as strong as this new concept will be and not as sustainable." Sounds like this new concept replaces the brass markers
  10. I am underwhelmed by the stacked speakers! 3 sides of these stacked boxes will be grey monoliths. I find the idea sketches more inspiring and hope they could create the stacks more like those concepts. I also wish they would state whom the artist is. It feels like a Mark Reigelman design.
  11. Did the city document all the buildings that were torn down over the years in the Warehouse District? I would love to see what architecture was deemed worthy to destroy
  12. What if this were to be built on the muni lots off of Marginal Road as a series of horizontal buildings. This can connect to the RTA Waterfront Line an still connect to downtown restaurant and law offices. It would definitely activate the transit system. I know the lakefront plan adopted by the city proposed buildings to be buillt in those parking lots the City already owns
  13. City Planning Commission approves early "schematic" plans for lakefront Superman monument http://www.cleveland.com/arts/index.ssf/2015/11/city_planning_commission_appro.html#incart_river_home CLEVELAND, Ohio –The city's Planning Commission gave an enthusiastic thumb's up on Friday to plans for a Superman monument on the city's lakefront. "This is going to be an awesome addition," said commission member Lawrence Lumpkin, who chaired Friday's meeting. Lakewood artist David Deming described his vision for a 13-foot-long stainless steel statue of the Man of Steel, which would be mounted on a 36-foot-high pylon.
  14. I cannot figure out which buildings are phase 1. Can someone help with this?
  15. I am very pleased with this development. Let's build it!
  16. Is the final nail in this development's failure come as Starwood brand hotels are now sold to Marriott brand? I don't know if The Le Meridian brand will continue at all.
  17. I found this video on youtube by Cool Cleveland
  18. It is hard to see how many windows are damaged as well as the glass curtain wall system. Hope not to much was damaged.
  19. I find the Landmark's Commission and Cleveland Planning Commission at fault. Too busy to address historic landmark status so instead go ahead and demolish. I am all for progress but ask yourself if what is being replaced is an improvement. Functionally, the answer is yes but I do not understand why this space was needed when any event of the magnitude they expect could easily have been held at the Tinkham Veale Center.

Why did Ikea settle on Brooklyn as their choice location?
  21. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20151103/NEWS/151109956/real-estate-is-more-intriguing-to-rock-gaming-than-building-a-new Real estate is more intriguing to Rock Gaming than building a new casino Rock Gaming is more focused on pursuing real estate development on the site it purchased on the south side of Huron Road than constructing a new casino there. A new casino is more likely to go in as part of a mixed-use project than go in alone. But don’t hold your breath in either case. That’s the word from Matt Cullen, president and CEO of Rock Gaming, in an interview Monday, Nov. 2, after Rock announced it plans to assume operations in mid-2016 of Horseshoe Casino Cleveland, Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati and Thistledown Racino from Las Vegas-based Caesars Entertainment Operating Co.
  22. I would like to see the name of the casino's turn into a simple brand name. Casino Cleveland / Casino Cincinnati/ Racino Thistledown . European casinos always are just named after the city they are in. Casino Cleveland at Higbees as a second choice.
  23. I enjoy the contemporary lines of the apartments. The walnut cabinetry provides some warmth to accommodate many tenant's style of furnishings. The exterior is the star of this complex
  24. Wouldn't it make more sense for Rock Gaming to buy the "Horseshoe" brand from Caesar's than to rebrand all their properties?
  25. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20151028/NEWS/151029791/cuyahoga-county-council-approves-firstmerit-naming-pact-for Cuyahoga County Council approves FirstMerit naming pact for convention center from the article: The county will use its share for upkeep of the convention center, while the city will use its cut to improve the malls that are adjacent to the convention center complex, which includes the Global Center and the under-construction Hilton Cleveland Downtown hotel. I look forward to see what is planned and when this will be implemented . One item I am not a fan of is the new logo. Just no sure what it relates to. I would prefer a simplified version incorporating the overhang along Lakeside. i played around on Photoshop
