Cleveland City Council
I think some of the outrage stems from the fact he was re-appointed and not re-elected. I agree with Hts121 that the media and everyone else should make sure they hold all of our politicians to the same standard and not just the ones in Cleveland. I admit I am a conservative, but I live in the city of Cleveland and I truly care about making this a better place to live. That's the reason I tend to be critical of city of Cleveland politics because it directly affects me. I am very happy with several of our democratic politicians and I hope we can continue to get good leaders in elected offices. Also, I just got off the phone with Cimperman and I have to give him credit for giving me a call and explaining to me what happened. He definitely cares about his constituents and Ward 3 is better for having him.

Cleveland City Council
I have to say, this whole Ken Johnson double-dipping controversy has left a sour taste in my mouth regarding local politics here in Cleveland. I e-mailed my councilman, Cimperman, who has nothing to say about this, but Brian Cummins, who voiced opposition, gave me a nice response that made me feel a little bit better that somebody gets what's wrong with this situation. I just want elected officials to put the taxpayers first instead of their bank accounts. Mark Naymik sums the situation up well in his latest article. http://www.cleveland.com/naymik/index.ssf/2013/01/cleveland_city_council_stands.html#incart_m-rpt-2

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
Does anyone know how the Avenue District's doing renting out the apartments?

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I was looking at the hours for the downtown Subways after walking by the one on East 9th and seeing how busy it was at 8pm last night. According to their website, there's a new Subway coming to the Southworth Building. I assume this will be in the old Sushi 86 spot. Also, I noticed many Subways downtown are open until 10pm. I'm not a big Subway eater, but it's nice to see places staying open after 6pm.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
For anyone who is interested. I found this report from Jones Lang LaSalle incredibly interesting. Nothing too exciting, but two smaller firms recently moved downtown and it has updates on several large companies in the region and where they are looking for office space. http://www.us.am.joneslanglasalle.com/ResearchLevel1/Cleveland_Highlights_Q1_2012_Final_Draft_03_26.pdf

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
I also have mixed feeling with K & D. I actually currently live at 668 and while it is nice and the location is unbeatable, the walls are very thin and there are some problems with the plumbing and electricity. Nothing major, but it is not as nice as they'd lead you to believe.

I love Chipotle and I'm psyched if they come downtown, but if I'm going to drive out of downtown then I am going to Ohio City Burrito. IMO, they have the best quick service burritos in Cleveland.

Cleveland: Filling in Euclid Avenue
That's awesome news. I'm jealous, I work in Independence. I didn't think I'd miss working downtown so much, but Independence may be the most boring place for a young person to work in the area.

Congratulations! This sounds like an awesome event that is coming to Cleveland.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
This is obviously a terrible incident, but hopefully now they will get their liquor license revoked and that will be the end of it. I'm not always a huge Cimperman fan, but he moved quickly in getting Club Allure's license revoked a couple of months ago when they had their shooting. Hopefully, this place's fate will be the same.

I didn't blame Jackson for letting the Beachwood company move to downtown Chicago. I was merely contrasting Rahm Emanuel's aggressive, very-public approach to fixing Chicago's problems while our mayor does everything behind closed doors. It's okay to be very quiet about what you're doing if you run a private LLC, but when you're the mayor of Cleveland, you should have a larger presence in the community.

I don't know JMC's motivation for moving because I was not sitting in their boardroom, but I really like the aggressive approaches Rahm Emanuel is taking to try and improve Chicago. He has helped many other companies move or expand operations downtown and he really got behind the police in a somewhat violent summer in Chicago. I just wish Mayor Jackson would be a little more outspoken on his actions on recruiting businesses and improving Cleveland.

My fiance and I can make it. We live downtown and are always looking to meet new people. Plus, I have a weakness for the Chop House.
